A Wonderful Four Bedroom Village Area Cottage situated on beautiful St. Simons Island, Georgia, known for its southern history and charm. 'Mermaid Cottage' is located in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk to the beach, restaurants and village shops.

This smoke-free home has all the amenities you could want. Situated two blocks off the beach on a quiet street lined with 150 year old live oak trees, you will enjoy the privacy and special ambiance that 'Mermaid Cottage' has to offer.

Three bedrooms and two and one-half baths are in the main house with two living areas. One bedroom with queen bed and a futon, kitchenette and private bath are located in the guest house, perfect place to put the kids!! Total of 2,000 square feet of indoor living space!

Enjoy the privacy of the courtyard area, perfect for catching a nap, outdoor grilling, or swimming in the heated pool, one of the few on the island. Or catch a few games on our outdoor ping-pong table. Rate includes heating pool

Very special

We rent 3-4 times a year and this is easily the cleanest, most well maintained home we've ever rented. There was no hint of the wear and tear you usually see and not a speck of dust. The landscaping is phenomenal and the care of the pool above and beyond. The home is well appointed yet so very comfortable. Everything you need is generously provided and the kitchenware is great quality. (Scratched nonstick cookware is a pet peeve) This home is a perfect 10/10.

Wonderful place

Great location for quick access to beach, shops, restaurants. The cottage has everything we could have possibly needed. Lots of room for our big family. And the detached guest house was wonderful for gram and gramps to go to have quiet time while the kiddos were still running wild lol!

Wedding weekend

Our family stayed for a long weekend while celebrating our daughter’s wedding. The cottage is cute, with plenty of space, nice short walk to beach and village area. Loved it!

Family vacay!

This was our second time at Mermaid Cottage! Had a wonderful week! Grandkids loved the basketball hoop in the pool!!! Great addition! Meremaid Cottage has almost everything you need! Well appointed!

Mermaid Cottage

This property was clean, well equipped, and full of quaint charm and character. The pool was perfect for a shady swim after a day on the beach. The walk to the beach was about 7 minutes with shade cover on about half of it. A two year old walked it one day! Great place to make family memories!

Wonderful Stay

Our favorite beach house

This is the perfect place for our family - we spend a week here every year. Works great for 3 or 4 generations staying together. Short walk or ride to the beach. Has all the pots and pans we need, plenty of dishes, cups, glasses and silverware. And towels - lots of towels - including beach towels! We hope to be back next year. And each year after that...

Perfect SSI Vacation Spot

We spent the week with our older teens and young 20s kids and their partners. The house was very well stocked for cooking large meals and was set up perfectly for family conversations, games and fun. We loved the pool and the proximity to the beach and the village was awesome as well. Fantastic home, you can’t go wrong!

Wonderful!

We had such a great stay! The house was exactly as described, very well stocked with everything you’d need. The pool was very warm. Beaches close by, beach chairs to use at the house.

Little Oasis

All of our flights were delayed and we had lots of rain to contend with making for a very late arrival. We had some struggle getting in but Martha & Bob were AMAZING and receptive to the lateness of the help needed. The home is spectacularly cleaned and literally not a need for anything!! We LOVED the pool and the closeness to walking to the Beach & downtown. Super responsive with any questions we had. We all fell in love with SSI!

Disability friendly

We have been here before when my husband just had a cane. This time he was in a wheelchair. Still the same great experience. 3 bedrooms in main house and the quest house was perfect even as a stand alone. Short walk to the beach.Great fir early morning walks. Currently has construction beside it. But is was not an intrusion at all. Would highly recommend

SSI is a wonderful beach for family. The home is pleasant and comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with everything you will need for cooking family meals. There are beach chairs and beach umbrella. Pool is heated and so relaxing. Beds are comfortable and two sitting areas are great for spreading out. The separate sleeping quarters was nice for young adult children. Easy walk to the beach.

May Mermaid Experience

Our family loved the charming cottage and the location. We walked to beach and restaurants , rode bikes and always enjoyed the safe environment. We appreciate that the cottage is so well equipped. Relaxing Getaway with Terrific Host

This was my second trip to the mermaid cottage and once again we had a truly relaxing time in this cute cute cottage owned by an extremely helpful host! My friends and I enjoyed the slower pace of the island and just let the days flow as they may. The Cottage itself is extremely comfortable with great beds, linens and a very nicely equipped kitchen. The vintage vibe with all the modern conveniences is a perfect combination for a wonderful getaway! When I say Martha is an amazing host I truly mean that as we locked ourselves out twice (embarrassingly in the same day) and Martha was extremely gracious in providing us access…with no judging!! We had great BBQ from Southern Soul BBQ and a delicious crab encrusted trout followed by a shared piece of butter cake from Half Shell (be sure to chat with Walter behind the bar). Take the tram ride around Jeykell Island and go to driftwood beach. Be sure to end your day with your feet in the sand and waves just a few beautiful blocks from the Cottage. There is no question in my mind that I will be returning for a third trip. Thanks again Martha for your wonderful hospitality!!

Spring Break Family Trip

We had a wonderful time at Mermaid. Cottage. It met the needs of grandparents, parents, teens, and children. Plenty of room inside and the warm pool was great outside. The cottage had everything needed and was super clean. We rented a golf cart while there which transported everyone to the beach and stores. We had a fun and memorable stay!

Wow! This Place Is Terrific!

The Mermaid Cottage was the perfect place for us to be introduced to St. Simon's Island. The neighborhood of nicely kept bungalow cottages in which it is located is reminiscent of mid-century island times. The landscaping at the cottage is very well done. When we walked into the home, we were struck by the wonderful decor. It is obvious that Martha spent a lot of time getting the details just right to be reflective of the mermaid theme. I will mention that there is one small area in the house decorated by Martha's husband that is dedicated to pirates. Have fun searching for it. While I refer to the property as a cottage, I must point out that it is roomy. We spent most of the time in the family/TV room at the back of the house. The dining room and living room hardly got used. The modern kitchen is sizeable and has up-to-date appliances. Bedrooms were nicely sized with very comfortable beds. Bathrooms were fine and featured the best towels we have ever seen in a Vrbo property. We particularly enjoyed the pool in the back of the house. It is heated and was a delight to lounge in following a stroll on the beach. The Mermaid Cottage also has a guest house beside the pool. While we did not use it, we were impressed with its spacious main room and en suite bathroom. It would add a lot of flexibility to room assignment planning. So, our overall impression of the property - absolutely wonderful!!

Family trip

The property location is in a great location. The cabins layout allowed for family dinner and game night. Having the pool room was great for allowing family to have their own space.

SSI mini Vaca

We had a great stay. The house is just wonderful and so was our host. St. Simons is a beautiful place. There are things to do or you can just relax. A day trip to Jekyll Island is worth the time. Thanks for the great mini vacation. We will return to the Mermaid Cottage. Sincerely, Sylvia
