This comfortable 2bedroom/1bath ocean and pool view condo is located on the first floor and has everything you need for your short or long term stay. Located in a residential area, it is a five minute taxi ride to the nearby modern El Paseo Shopping Mall complete with shops, food court, theater and grocery store or a 15-20 minute easy walk along the beach. A ten minute taxi ride takes you to the heart of downtown Salinas to all the seafood restaurants and beach boardwalk. Relax by the pools or take a stroll on the beach just steps from your condo.

a good place for vacation time

A great place for a carefree holiday. Straight from the steps you can dive into the ocean. Not very close to the bus stop, but a 15 minute walk is good for health. And you have a cheap taxi ready to serve you on the first call. We were lucky, because all weekend were without parties. It was quiet and calm. Nothing and no one bothered us to sleep at night. The apartment is very comfortable. There is everything for a comfortable life. Excellent set of dishes for all occasions. The neighbors are very calm. Excellent guards, poorly speaking in English, but always ready to help you. We are completely satisfied

Best place in Salinas.

Perfect place for people who want to rest away from the noise of the town of Salinas. The ocean is 20 steps from your condo. You can swim directly in front of the condo, or walk 7 minutes to the right or left of the exit to go, to two other beaches where the water is always quiet. Since 2010 that we rent condos never before we found a condo with a battery of kitchen quality as much, there is nothing missing in the condo to cook what you want. The internet is very fast, the security guards are pleasant and do not hesitate to help you in case of need. 15 minutes walk from the shopping center, where you can shop, and where there are many fast food. $2.00 by taxi to the El Paseo shopping center, or $4.00 to go on the Malecon in Salinas. $0.25 to move you by bus no matter where in Salinas. The condo is perfect for a single person or couple. P.S. The best restaurant Farallon Dillon at Balletina.

What a cute unit! Beautiful view.

Beautiful secure property with a top notch pool and beautiful view. Away from the hustle a bustle of downtown but still close enough for an inexpensive taxi ride and just a short walk to the mall. Beach is walkable at low tide for about 1/2 mile. The waves are exceptional for surfing. Friendly attentive 24 hour staff secure parking and functional kitchen.

neat and cozy

I had a wonderful stay in this apartment for a month! View at the ocean from the living room is astonishing. Apartment is not that big, but spacious enough and sparkling clean. As for the appliences and kitchen utensils there is everything you need and even more! Swimming pool is very spacious and again with a great ocean view. Unfortunately, on weekends when lots of people come over, pool becomes not that clean and very noisy. Shopping mall is about 20 min walk or $1.5 by taxi. Choice is poor and prices are 2-4 times of what it cost in Europe, by hey, it's Ecuador! Fish market in Libertad (just 10 min drive) is therefore recommended (you can buy there fruits and vegetables too). In the area around (apart from the beach) there is not much to see. Too little green and too much construction sites. It seemed safe though, didn't have problems even walking "home" after dark. Getting to Salinas center is very easy. Just walk 10 min to the main avenue and waive to one of the buses passing by! Price is a bargain: 25 cent; taxi would cost you $3-4. Beach is tricky. Sometimes waves wash off the sand and then all the sharp rocks are coming out! Few months ago beach just in front of the building was perfectly fine for swimming, but no more after El Nino. You can walk though just 50 meters to the left - it's all sand and no rocks in the water. There are quite few foreigners living in the buidling, including very nice American couple across the hall, we became friends during my stay. Carlene and Bill (apartment owners) were very helpful: arranged my pick-up from the airport, were immediately responding to my emails and giving all kind of advices. I would totally recommend this property!

Great views and good location

We stayed a month during off season and found this apartment an excellent fit for us. We wanted to be on the beach with good internet and away from the Malecon. It was awesome to be able to watch the waves and people body surfing, snorkeling, kayaking and more while sitting in the condo. We could walk directly onto the beach from the condo building. During the week it was quiet. On weekends and holidays there are more people who enjoy the swimming pools and barbecue area, so then it is noisier. We walked to El Paseo Mall or took a taxi to and from the Mall. Just outside of the mall we caught local buses. We went to La Libertad and bought fresh fish at the fish market and fresh chicken at the Mercado. We walked along their Malecon. We took a local bus from the mall to Anconcita, a small fishing village. Or, a person can catch a bus to Salinas. The owners had a basket full of goodies and were responsive to our questions and needs. We definitely would stay here again and we will recommend it to our friends.

Wonderful hosts, beautiful views, perfect condo

We stayed a month at Spondylus 2 and enjoyed it so much. The owners were such great hosts with all the helpful info needed to make our transition to Ecuador life a success. The condo is compact, with all the amenities needed, including a basket of goodies to get you started like coffee and cookies, and milk and water in the frig. There is an elevator in the building and an exercise room. No cable TV but there are a stack of DVDs of mostly current movies, or plug in your computer to it with the hdmi cable provided. Don't let the dirt roads to the condo off the main road in Salinas deter you as all side roads are dirt. Taxis called by the guards will get you to the shopping mall, grocery store (5-8 mins) or to the Malecon in 10-12 mins, for only $2-$4. We walked to the El Paseo mall for exercise and it took only 15 mins. (We are both over 60) We were there in the off season so it was quiet most of the time, but we heard that when full of people on holiday it can get noisy. (But being on the Malecon is noisy all the time!). The location is great because you can walk straight on to a smooth, clean beach right from the pool area - almost like a private beach. We loved our stay, and the hosts too!

Great value

Perfect location away from the noise of the malecon, but a quick (and cheap taxi ride). Close to mall also. Unit has everything needed and is well appointed. Lots of charm in a small space.

Spondylus 2 is oceanfront and located in a residential area with 24 hour on-site security and a great walking beach steps from the condo. You are only a 10-15 minute taxi or bus ride from the hustle & bustle of downtown Salinas and all the shops and restaurants.
Best sunny weather months are during high-season Dec-May with temps typically in the high 80's. June through Nov are typically partial sun & overcast but warm and enjoyable month's in the low 70's.

A turn-key unit maintained and cared for by the owner with the help of our property manager, our condo is clean, comfortable and well-appointed for your stay. All you will need to buy are your groceries and fresh seafood and fruits & vegetables. Wake up and go to sleep with the sound of the waves drifting through the screened windows.
