A TOURIST TOWN: Le Diamant, located in the southern Caribbean of Martinique, owes its name to a rock that proudly points out to sea, like a jewel in a blue setting. The beach of Le Diamant (4km) the longest beach in Martinique, lined with coconut and almond trees, is very popular with many joggers, especially on weekends.
On the route, lovers of beautiful photos can stop to admire the panoramic views of the rock and the Diamond Bay.
Le Morne Larcher, more poetically called 'the reclining woman' for its very feminine curves, will offer itself to you in a majestic way. Le Diamant is also the starting point for many hikes
The beach of Anse Caffard houses the memorial to the deported slaves which is made up of 15 large white statues erected on the site where a slave ship ran aground on April 9, 1830. A little higher up and below the road, you discover the Maison du Gaoulé built by a former convict from Guyana.
The church of Saint Thomas, of baroque inspiration, built in the seventeenth century, overlooks a beautiful sunny square from which a long footbridge starts, crossing the sea, to the delight of fishermen and walkers. The particularity of this church is its exposed framework which evokes the overturned hull of a boat.
