Nice Little Apartment
I stayed there for 16 nights and really enjoyed my stay. I live in the United States and am very used to nice accommodations. This apartment did not disappoint. It is in a very quiet family area of Naco.
There were two of us staying there and there was plenty of room for us. The place was clean when we arrived and was cleaned after our first week. The kitchen is small but very functional. We made almost all our meals in the apartment and there were enough cooking utensils to make just about everything we wanted. The patio is nice, we spent a lot of time sitting outside. However, since it’s a very quiet street on a dead end there is not a lot of activity on the street – not so good for people watching but very, very quiet.
The two bathrooms were really nice and the shower is great. There is a the small washer and dryer the 2nd bathroom that worked very well and was very convenient to have. The bed is not spectacular but was adequate for sure. There is a secure parking spot underground. The air-conditioning worked great.
The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. There is a large grocery store and several restaurants within walking distance. Walked around at night and felt completely safe (but I’m very used to the DR). Across the street from the grocery store there is a liquor store called “Drinks to Go” with people hanging out and drinking at night. There is a Chimi stand also on that corner that has really good sandwiches. I ate there a couple times and didn’t get sick.
The owners are very nice and responsive. The security at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The Colmado driver tried to rip me off (I wasn’t paying attention to the change he gave back to me) one time and the man at the front desk (I think his name is Miguel) recognized this and stopped it. So next time I went for a Chimi I bought him a sandwich and a soda for his help. A very nice man.
If you’re looking for a nice quiet place in a safe neighborhood in the middle of the city this is it.
The place could be improved with some minor changes. The patio furniture is very basic – two plastic lounging chairs. We took the pillows from inside the apartment to sit on outside. Some pillows for the chairs would have been better. A grill on the patio would have been fantastic but I understand the risks associated with this. Some additional shelving or cabinets in the 2nd bathroom would have been nice. But I'm not complaining...
