The property was beautiful, and our group of 18 loved the spaciousness. Having the main cabin, the bunkhouse, and the three smaller cabins gave us room to spread out. We loved the sounds of the creek flowing by and the view of the mountains from the front porch. We ate all of our meals at the huge table on the porch. Our host, Doug, was very responsive to our questions. We would stay there again.

Family vacation

We made wonderful memoriesā€¦.playing on the river, catching frogs, playing volleyball, etc. It was the perfect place for our big family to gather and spend time together. We hope to be back again!

This special home of the Wolds is an idyllic and rustic Spot to deepen relationships, laugh and play games and immerse yourself in a natural setting. We are thankful to have had this fabulous space for our family reunion.

Quiet, beautiful retreat near the best of Glacier country!

The cabins form a lovely circle right by the side of the river, with a beautiful lawn area smack dab in the middle so that all our family's kids could play in the line of sight of adults sitting on the porches, by the fire pit, or in one of the hammocks. It is a really thoughtfully set up retreat. It was easily accessible to Bigfork and Flathead lake. The Swan River was the most beautiful backdrop and playground for our diverse family and made for a wonderful experience for all of us. Our week included floating on the river, boating on Flathead Lake, trips to Glacier, and countless hours relaxing and spending time together by the river.

What a Spectacular Slice of Paradise!

There were 19 of us from ages 2 to 74. The property was just as described but we didnā€™t realize the true beauty of the cabins and natural surroundings until we got there. We lacked for nothing in the way of kitchen and dining amenities and adequate beds and baths. The fact that the only full baths (3) were in the main cabin never presented a problem. Dinner was at the huge table on the deck followed by outdoor games, fishing and a huge log fire with plenty of seating. A day in Glacier National Park, on Flathead Lake and on paddle boards on Swan Lake, all in reasonable proximity, added to the fun had by all. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a heavenly experience in Montana.

Spectacular location for a Family Reunion!

The photos don't do this property justice, each of the cabins are so unique and well thought out, there was plenty of space for our group of 20. We had some initial concerns with the bathrooms being in the main cabin but it wasn't an issue at all. Doug (the homeowner) was very helpful and showed us around the property upon arrival. The kitchen was well appointed with slow cookers, baking pans, knives, spices, and basics (sugar, flour, paper products, etc). There were also plenty of things for the kids to do, fishing poles for the kids pond, yard games, toys and video tapes, no one was ever bored! With the river right out the door, a fire pit, plenty of spots to relax, the pool and foosball tables, croquet and volleyball, this place is like your own personal camp! We loved it and hope to return sometime. Thank you Doug and Linda for sharing your little slice of heaven in Montana!!

I wanted to take the time to review the property on the Swan river. We held a family reunion there recently. All of us are from Montana. We're very familiar with the area. This location is very special. It is a wonderfully designed array of cabins that sit on one of the most peaceful rivers in Montana. The view of the mountains are beautiful and being able to sit out on the deck and enjoy the river, the sunset, and the stars at night is a great experience. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper, and other needed items. The kitchen is well stocked and there's so many great places to hang out. There are plenty of games, as well as outdoor equipment. As is clear from the description the cabins are separated. They form a tight circle with a nice lawn in the middle. This worked perfectly for our needs because we had several individual families connecting on this trip. But I also think it works great for friends or even coworkers planning to do a great fishing or hiking experience in Montana. This location is very close to some amazing hikes in the Flathead wilderness. Also close to Flathead lake, Bigfork, Kalispell, and of course Glacier. There's great fishing especially on the Swan river. Working with the host was awesome. They are super kind and accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay here in the future. It is a wonderfully peaceful place and the epitome of what I believe is a true essence of the Montana experience. You will love this place!

Best Family Vacation Ever!

What a wonderful location! Our family (8 adults, 5 children) takes a family vacation every summer. We all voted this as our best vacation ever! We loved being right on the river which was great for floating and fishing. The deer visited a couple times a day. The accommodations were perfect as was our host! We enjoyed being close to Bigfork and Glacier National Park. Our family definitely wants to return!

Absolute heaven

We couldnā€™t have asked for a better place for our group of three families to stay and play in Montana. The view and river were magical and where we started and ended each day. Very homey with everything we needed. Great porch for dining, games and cards. Kids loved the bunkhouse and parents enjoyed the quiet of our own cabins. Good hiking and lakes nearby, and close enough for day trips to Glacier and Whitefish. Thank you, Doug, for sharing your family retreat with us!!

Perfect Setting for Family Reunions/Multiple families

We absolutely loved our stay...the location, the cabins, the porch, and of course the river. We had an extend family reunion(and kids from 9 to young adults) and to a family we all agreed the property exceeded our expectations. Set up perfectly for 30+ to play, converse, sit in water etc. and yet be in the "same" location. Good communication, reasonable pricing, and priceless location for groups like this. We'll be back...we loved it!

Amazaing!

This place was perfect. We caught a bunch of fish right off the deck, swam in the refreshing river, played games, & enjoyed the long summer nights! 10/10 would recommend. One thing noteworthy. For twenty guys, we had enough wifi to connect to for all of us. We weren't there to be on our cell phones but were able to have enough to connect with freidns and family who weren't with us.

Perfect Family Gathering

After not being able to see our family for over a year, this was the perfect retreat. Our four sons and their families made 12 of us, and everyone had room to gather as well as their own space. Everything we needed was there; the property is well stocked with just about everything you can think of. To be there together in such an incredibly beautiful location was a real treat, and the family is already talking about our next trip. True, there is no cell service, but the internet worked very well. One son had an online meeting he had to do, and he found that the signal in the office in the main house was stronger than in the cabins. One night the power went out and it meant everyone had to put down their phones. I loved it!

FANTASTIC FAMILY FLEXCATION!

Location, location, location! We looked at many retreats and chose this one based on: Location Remote Riverside Retreat was absolutely perfect for our family flexcation, flyfishing, floating, and hiking! Glacier International Airport - 60 minutes north. Glacier National Park - 90 minutes north. Cabins Main Cabin ā€“ Cozy two bedrooms, three bathrooms. We sat on the large deck overlooking the river every night to watch the sunset over the mountains as the river rolled by. Nice, well-equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, two fridges, and even a small fridge for beer/soda. Convenient washer and dryer on property and nice new linens and towels. Bunkhouse ā€“ Perfect for the kids! Plenty of indoor and outdoor games. Didnā€™t hear ā€œIā€™m boredā€ once! Guest Cabins ā€“ Three additional two-story cabins circle the large lawn making for a very family-centric environment. Outside All the cabins were lit up with lights for plenty of light at night. We even caught sight of a few deer passing through! Fantastic firepit right out in front of the main cabin deck was perfect for s'mores. Main deck has a fun foosball table and a handcrafted pool table. WIFI worked great for our remote phone counseling jobs and our six kids school zoom classes and nightly movie binges. We even FaceTimed Grandma and Grandpa to include them in some of the fun. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back!

Doug, our host did a wonderful job helping us settle in to his beautiful and warm cabin. We spent every evening on the porch, watching the sunset, overlooking the Swan River. The setting was serene and secluded. And the cabin was well stocked with everything we needed for our week in the Swan Valley. We highly recommend staying at Dougā€™s park-like setting. We only used the main cabin, but clearly they could accommodate multiple families with the multiple cabins on property. When Mother Nature tossed us a challenge, Doug was very quick to help us out. Overall, we had a great and memorable time.

No cell service and basically no wifi

First, I understand the point for many is get off the grid. And if you want a vacation guaranteed not to be able to use your phone 90% of the trip, this is the place for you. There is ZERO cell reception. Your only choices are the owners land line and wifi calling. So pair that with horrible wifi (even with the 3 extenders we bought after arriving) & you get nothing. For our working trip this was unacceptable. I communicated my outrage that the listing does not mention this to the owner as soon as I booked & the data was finally provided in the details of the booking only. This is not okay though his answer was worse. His answer was simply that they currently had a tech company running their business & have had zero complaints. After staying there myself I know this is impossible & further lies told by the owner. His son arrived on our property the third day to fix the sprinklers and we discussed this. It got no better despite his attempts & then two additional days of him coming to the property still no better. Finally he said it could only handle 5 devices. So basically unless you are 1 single family with probably just one child, you will have zero ways to communicate to the outside world, search for activities to do or even ask the owner for help through VRBO where there is a record of your conversation. This is not per the listing. Now that that is out of the way, the cabins are decent as long as youā€™re okay with no running water, which didnā€™t bother us. The main cabin has 3 full bathrooms With showers (though donā€™t try to shower at the exact same time as another). The bunk house has 1 toilet and cold water only and the other 3 cabins each have 2 beds & no running water, toilet, etc. The ā€œfirst cabinā€ had a baby gate which was great for me, my husband and our 18 mo old. After purchasing a pack n play we discovered they had one in the 2nd cabin. So now they have 2 if any of you are bringing littles. They had 2 fridges which was very convenient for our 3 families all with kids ranging 6 mo to 13 years. We didnā€™t use their games except fooseball. But they do have a pool table on the deck as well. There are no dressers anywhere on property. The space is definitely serene, though that water is very frigid so please go in prepared for that. There is deer that come into the property constantly & while we were warned of bears & mountain lions none appeared on our trip Highly recommend Narrowpath Adventures!!!!!!

Amazingly peaceful beautiful setting and home. Place to play place to relax place to read place to fish place to be. We are a large family and everyone - everyone loved it. Thank you so much for sharing your place.

We are a 5th-generation Montana family who has been in hospitality since 1910. We love to share the beauty and grandeur that is Montana. We played host to all sorts of events over the decades. In recent years, most of our guests have found our Swan River Retreat the perfect place for their family gatherings.

We bought these 10 acres in 2000 and built our family retreat. We rebuilt and enlarged the main cabin and built three smaller guest cabins.

We had so much company, we next built a bunkhouse with 8 bunks, a half-bath, and two bedrooms, each with a loft. We lived at the retreat for about 4 months a year for about 10 years. It is nicely furnished with quality items.

Ten years ago we decided to share it with guests and make it available as a vacation rental. We have been fortunate in that our guests have all been very respectful of the property, and understand it is special, and not a regular commercial venture.
