The Okra Inn is a family-owned, locally-owned business run by professional inkeepers who live close by.
THE SPACE
The Okra Inn Iberville is a historic camelback duplex (New Orleanians say "double") in the vibrant Mid City area, within sight of the Canal Streetcar line. The property features 11 foot ceilings throughout, original pocket doors, beautiful crown molding, and our own blend of artsy charm. Each side of the double has a living room, a dining room, a kitchen stocked with basics, and three bedrooms. One side of the double has two full bathrooms and the other side has one full and one half bathroom.
The two sides of the duplex are connected by a front porch, a back balcony, and a back patio. Please note: the two sides of the house are not accessible from the same entrance. Guests use the porch or patio to move from one side of the house to the other.
The decor is a cozy, funky version of classic New Orleans, with kitsch alongside original art, elegance alongside a feeling of homey comfort. We want the house to be clean and pleasant, but without a sense that guests should be afraid to touch anything.
We strive to be pet-friendly, though we ask that you inquire before booking if you are planning to bring pets.
The combined sides of the double include:
* 2 living rooms
* 2 dining rooms
* 2 kitchens
* 6 bedrooms
* 4 bedrooms with Queen beds (all upstairs)
* 1 bedroom with a Full (Double) bed (downstairs)
* 1 bedroom with two Twin beds (downstairs)
* 1 full size futon in one of the living rooms (with pocket doors for optional privacy)
* 3 full bathrooms and one half bathroom
* Closets in all of the bedrooms
* Ceiling fans
* Wireless Internet
* Central AC
* Two televisions
* The kitchens are equipped with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, glassware and other kitchen and cooking basics, as well as salt/pepper, oil and spices
* 2 coffee makers (drip)
* 2 refrigerators, 2 ovens/stoves, 2 dishwashers
* 2 microwaves and toasters
* 1 blender

HOUSE RULES AND IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
We do allow pets at our discretion. However, please inquire before booking if you are planning to bring a pet.
Please inquire before booking if your group is a bachelor(ette) party. While we are happy to host these groups, we ask that they do not have any party events in the house, and that decoration is kept to a minimum.
Firearms are strictly prohibited. Active duty military and law enforcement officers may contact us at the time of booking regarding possible exceptions to this policy. Any exceptions will be granted at our sole discretion.
Smoking is not allowed in the house but is allowed on front and back porches with doors closed.
We have noise monitors installed on the property to comply with the City of New Orleans short term rental hosting requirements.
We do feel strongly about being respectful of neighbors. We ask that guests watch noise levels outside of the home after 10pm on weeknights and after 11pm on weekends; this is especially important in the back patio/balcony area, which is close to neighbor's bedrooms. We do not allow any outside guests to stay past these hours. In general, please ask before your stay if you are planning on hosting any sort of gathering.
We do not allow guests to use grills or other open flames, for safety reasons.
