This large vacation house is situated at the edge of the El Yunque National Rainforest on 6+ acres of tropical rainforest jungle. Private gated access, on a small mountain just 1 mile from PR3. Large private patio and 10x20' salt water swimming pool constructed on the mountainside. THE POOL IS USED BY GUESTS OF RENTAL HOUSE ONLY, NOT SHARED WITH ANYONE ELSE.

This is not a cramped condo or apartment with many neighbors. You will be in a safe mountainside tropical jungle setting, in a large concrete house, with plenty of room to explore and enjoy!

The property is close to El Yunque National Forest, Luquillo (Monserrate) Beach and kiosks, Carabali Rainforest Park, Hacienda Siesta Allegre, and just 20 expressway miles from San Juan. The ferry terminal to Culebra & Vieques is 23 miles.

Bedrooms: NO BUNK BEDS!
King bed in master suite with walk-in closet and separate bathroom with large shower. The second bedroom offers a comfortable queen, a futon, and twin mattress for a variety of sleeping options. A queen bed is in the third bedroom. Second Bathroom is at end of hallway, near bedrooms 2 and 3.
Two Pack N Plays are available for traveling babies. A high chair is also available.
The couch in living room contains a queen bed.
Linens, pillows, and towels (including beach towels) are provided.

The house has accommodated many gatherings with friends and family sharing in the food preparation in the open kitchen with large island, with many guests gravitating to the large patio, or the open two stall garage in rainy weather.

Open floor plan and spacious rooms are located on one level, making it easy for elderly or toddlers to get around. No steps! Pool just off the patio has an iron security gate.

If you want to stay where you have all the amenities of home yet are near many attractions the island has to offer, reserve this home!

Ceiling fans and air conditioners in each bedroom and living room.

Full solar system ensures you won't have any power blackouts, which is a common occurrence on the island, while you are on vacation.

1,000 gallon water reservoir makes sure you will have a shower when you need it, regardless of the inconsistent utilities that occur frequently on the island. And yes, a hot shower!

Roku smart tvs in each bedroom, dvd player, assortment of movies, and wi-fi throughout.

We want your vacation to be a wonderful time and can help with anything you need before or during your stay. Hosts reside in separate 2nd floor unit with separate parking and entrance. Hosts do not monitor guests. With 8-10" of concrete between the floors, noise has not been an issue. See previous guest reviews.

Hosts were responsive and accommodating. One of the hosts is living in the 2nd floor so you get the feeling of having someone nearby to assist, but you feel privacy when you are there. The kitchen has many necessities including ground coffee. We loved the location, near most things in the east. Terrain is rough so have a vehicle with gusto and some good driving skills. Will likely stay here again when we come back to PR!

Hector greeted us at the gate upon our arrival, and graciously showed us the property. We felt very fortunate to find such a gem on short notice.

They are great hosts! Non-intrusive but very responsive if you need help. I bought a foldable table for anyone that wants to setup a laptop to work from there. Internet is reliable, and the little animal noises are just charming. You do feel like you're living in the rainforest.

La Lomita is one of the best places I’ve rented! The home, the property, the pool and the views were beautiful! Hector and Kim were both very kind and responsive. We will definitely be back!

This property is gorgeous! We took our 4 children between 3-12 and they all loved the scenery, the pool (which has a light for night swims) and the wild lizards around outside. The hosts Hector and Kim were responsive and helpful! We had the whole ground floor home to ourselves, and had nice chats with Hector and little visits from the owner’s small dogs. The layout is great - we were able to have our own space in bedrooms, and the doors opened up to the pool/outdoor dining area which was super convenient and spacious. There are also great touches like a first aid kit (hiking a waterfall with 4 kids, you know), toiletries, towels, washer/dryer, and pool toys that were those little extras to put this hospitality over the top. We hit main attractions within 7-40 minutes: El Yunque and Luquillo Beaches are very close, and Old San Juan and the BioBay were easy drives. We spent almost a whole day just hanging at the house in the pool and cooking in the well-stocked kitchen. I would recommend La Lomita to any kind of group. Fabulous experience.

This place is amazing! My family stayed a few days and then moved onto a beach place. We wish we would have stayed here the whole time. Its secluded but still close to everything. Kim responded quickly to my messages. We didnt meet her, but we met her husband, Hector, and he was a real nice guy. He kept the grounds looking fantastic. They have some cats and dogs that live with them and they are so sweet. My kids fell in love. My daughter is still talking about missing Daisy. I would absolutely stay here again if we ever come back. They have everything you could need for your stay, minus stuff like toothbrush, etc. I felt I overpacked to stay because they had everything I brought. I cant think of 1 negative about this place!

We had a great stay. Nice place, beautiful landscape. Good location between the hustle and bustle of San Juan and the beaches and activities in Fajardo and Luquillo. Instead of cars and music at night, we went to sleep to the sounds of rainforest critters. The beds were very comfortable. There were plenty of beach towels and the kitchen had everything we needed.

A piece of paradise!

The property is even better than the listing! Its clean, well appointed, safe and very private. We loved the hosts and their sweet little dogs. If we go back to PR, we wouldn't dream to stay anywhere else!

Awesome Experience

I stayed at La Lomita for the second year in a row because I enjoyed my stay there so much the first time. Clean, beautiful house with all the amenities you could want with a great view and atmosphere. Kim and Hector are great hosts with excellent communication. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful Property!

We had a very nice stay at this property. The house was incredibly well stocked, communication was excellent, and we had a great time staying here! The pool was a big hit, as was the outdoor seating area. The drive can be a little steep, but totally doable. You can tell the property is well taken care of! 10/10

Island living

The property is an oasis that invites you with a long and beautiful driveway. If you want to experience the sounds of a rainforest and a cup of coffee in a tropical hillside then this is the property for you. We were able to enjoy a family reunion and introduce our homeland to grandchildren. It was especially beneficial to have solar power and Cistern water when there was an island wide power outage. The highlights are Don Hector who was available nearby to assist in a friendly & welcoming demeanor. There were pets to admire and pet which the little kids appreciated. The large balcony was our favorite spot to gather as a family for meals. Finally, we made use of the kitchen to cook many meals and found that we had what was needed.

Beautiful property in a great location

Amazing hosts, beautiful property and views. Our 6 year old loved the pool and had to be dragged out daily but could often be lured with the promise of a lizard hunt down the picturesque driveway (calling it a driveway doesn't do it justice, it's more of a hiking trail). Hector's dogs were frequent welcome guests, the happiest dogs I've ever seen. Would absolutely visit again if we have the opportunity.

Beautiful setting close to everythjng

We stayed here for 3 nights with 4 adults and 4 littles. It was a beautiful piece of property and only 15 minutes from a great beach and about 20-30 minutes to El Yunque. We also got to the ferry to Cuelbra in under an hour. Great location that seemed remote but was very convenient! Hector was very friendly but gave you the space to enjoy the amazing house.

Great place to stay!

Everything was just as described on the listing. Kim and Hector were very responsive to text. The location was great for El Yunque as it is close to it. Close to grocery stores and restaurants. We went to Fajardo, Old San Juan, and several different beaches. Nice pool and we had a covered place to park our cars. Very handy to have a washer and a dryer. The night sounds are amazing. You are in the middle of the forest. We felt at home. Thank you!!!

Hector grew up in the center of the island (Orocovis) and moved to Michigan in the 70's. Each vacation opportunity, we would return to the island to stay with family. In 2001, we had an opportunity to purchase a piece of land close to a niece's house that we always ended up staying with on vacation because of her great location to everything (and her great Puerto Rican cooking!). When Hector retired in 2010, he returned to his homeland to supervise the construction of this vacation home. In 2015 Hector and Kim moved to the island to manage the vacation rental house.

We chose this location because it is in close proximity to all the attractions and amenities of the big city of San Juan, the kid-friendly beach in Luquillo, and the ferries to neighboring islands Culebra and Vieques. Guests enjoy the privacy of the home and its surrounding tropical fruit trees, flowers, rocks, and palms. We are hybrid Tourists and Locals -- we want to see everything the island has to offer, but we don't want to pay the high costs associated with being a tourist, and we know THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO THE ISLAND THAN SAN JUAN!

The location of this home allows you to vacation comfortably with all the amenities of home. It is close enough to San Juan for an easy road trip, very close to Luquillo Beach, one of the best beaches on the island, and very close to the El Yunque National Forest. Move in for your vacation ... the house allows you to just relax, cook meals if you want, and spend quality time together. Excellent restaurants in close proximity and there is a book in the home containing our personal favorites and former guest recommendations. You can always feel free to ask us too!
