Canalside cottage situated on edge of Wilmcote village

Wharf Stables sits in the grounds of the private residence known as 'The Wharf' alongside Stratford-on-Avon Navigation Canal in the village of Wilmcote. Mary Arden's House, where Shakespeare's mother lived, is one of the major attractions in the area and is situated some 400 metres from the holiday let.
The village is also conveniently situated for those wishing to explore the Cotswolds, Warwick, Kenilworth and surrounding areas, in addition to enjoying the Shakespearian experience in Stratford-upon-Avon. Warwick Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Britain..
The holiday let is a conversion of an old stone stable block. It was originally used in early 19th century for keeping the ponies used for pulling the carts from the Wilmcote quarry to the quay.
The accommodation consists of 2 bedrooms, one king size bed, and a super king with an option to split to 2 singles. Both bedrooms have en-suites (one with a bath). The holiday let comes complete with necessary fixtures to make your stay enjoyable. Including wifi, dishwasher, 42 inch TV with freeview, radio with USB and bluetooth, freezer and washer/dryer. It is fully centrally heated with heated towel rails and gas effect stove.
Wilmcote has good access to Stratford and, if you wish, the train is 5 minutes walk away. Walk down the towpath or jump on the sightseeing bus that runs regularly between the Shakespearean tourist attractions.
There is a general store in the village, a public house and St. Andrews Church.

We had a brilliant time at Wharfe Stables over Christmas with our family.The accommodation was excellent, clean and included everything we could have needed, including a lovely 'welcome pack'.The floor plan was perfect with the two en-suite bedrooms either side of the Lounge/Kitchen area.The host were very pleasant and friendly and the surroundings perfect.We intend to go again.

Warf Stables was a beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. The accommodation was really well laid out and very comfortable & spotlessly clean. The outlook from the cottage was gorgeous with the canal & wooded areas providing an ideal spot for wildlife. Our host Liz was most welcoming and Bertie, her beautiful & friendly golden retriever was a most welcomed daily guest. Warf Stables is truly a place where you can relax & enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery and ideally located for visits to nearby Stratford & other historic & interesting locations. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to friends & family & hopefully, we will be returning in 2026 for another delightful stay.

Wharf Stables is a delightful little cottage by the canal. We were greeted with a lovely welcome basket of goodies and it had plenty of supplies of toiletries. Spotlessly clean and warm with lovely comfy beds. We met Liz several times who was very friendly and helpful. The swans, rabbits and squirrels were fun to watch. Lots of places to visit and walk close by made it the perfect location to stay.

We rent a lot of properties for our holidays over the years and this is without doubt THE BEST.Situated down a quiet lane on the ownerā€™s property and land next to the canal with views across the garden and trees.The interior is superb. Enter into lounge,diner, kitchen with two double bedrooms en-suite at each end of the cottage/bungalow. The beds and bed linen are very very good. Lovely thick towels.Kitchen has everything you need in top quality condition.Wilcote has great shop. The church despite being small has lots of historical Christian relics. Travel to Stratford upon Avon is easy. Bus/train/ park & ride.Recommend The View for coffee or lunchā€¦.just a couple miles up the road to Henley in Arden.

Peaceful location. Helpful owners. 'Bertie' the owners dog is nice and friendly. Welcome food basket and milk, a nice touch. The whole cottage well furnished. You can get to Stratford by the canal towpath or the local train service. The Stratford sites tour bus stops in the village on its circular route.

Excellent stay

The cottage is just a described on vrbo. Everything in great condition. We had some issues with the washing machine/tumble dryer. This was solved immediately by Liz an Alan. The owners are very helpful. Thank you both for helping me with my car trouble. We would definitely come back and stay at this location again.

What a beautiful property within a perfect, tranquil setting. Loved sitting on the canal side watching the canal boats go by and watching the wonderful wildlife. Plenty of seating options within the spacious grounds. It was a central base for us to visit Stratford Upon Avon but mainly to visit the stunning Cotswolds. The property is very well presented with every amenity for a home from home experience. Liz and Alan are wonderful hosts, loved talking to them but they are by no means intrusive just there if you need them. Our main highlight was their wonderful, friendly dog Bertie. He greeted us every day when we returned from our travels which we loved. We will definitely stay again next time we visit the area. Canā€™t recommend it enough.

Idyllic Setting

Wonderful week spent at Wharf Stables. Lovely peaceful setting with canal running along the bottom of the garden. Lots of wild life to watch and enjoy. Excellent Location

The property is of a high standard in an iydilic location by the edge of the canal with well maintained gardens and wildlife area. The railway station is a 5 minute walk from the property and the train journey into Stratford is only 7 minutes. We would highly recommend this property and would definitely look to book again.

We absolutely loved this property. The location was perfect for us, safe, secure, secluded. Alan and his wife were welcoming and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. It is perfectly located for Stratford upon Avon, yet appears to be miles away. We had a visit every day from Bertie the dog, who made the week even more special. Many thanks.

A wonderful trip down memory lane

My 2 daughters and I had such a special holiday staying in The Stables, it was everything I had hoped for and more. Liz & Alan made us feel so welcome, they are such lovely people. The cottage was bright, warm, comfortable and had everything we needed and the welcome basket and milk were very much appreciated. The Wharf is such a beautiful base for a peaceful stay with lots of interesting places to visit nearby. Thank you x
