A couple of miles away, Richmond offers a fascinating Norman castle, a weekly market, old curiosity shops set along narrow alleyways and the picturesque River Swale.

Richmond itself contains a magnificent Georgian Theatre and an imposing, ruined medieval castle that overlooks the River Swale. The area is full of footpaths and bridleways, criss-crossing the picturesque landscape in every direction and excellent fishing facilities are available nearby.
