Private Island Medieval Watermill with Pool & River Access

Sorry it wasn't to your taste! And sorry that the weather made everything rather miserable,. The watermill is not surrounded by any lake - it is on a river- and the furniture is actually fine French antique where not bespoke! I would not have it any other way. The pictures are accurate. I would agree with the cleaning...an emergency left a new cleaner totally on her own., and I apologise for that. However, that said, luckily we had the whole day to open all the windows when you had gone...your oriental cooking smelled delicious, but that, too,, is not to everyone's taste! I do hope the accident one of you appears to have had was not as serious as the blood in the various rooms suggested. I enjoyed meeting you and your delightful family and wish you all the best. You were good guests.

Yes...most guests include 'magical' somewhere in their description of the watermill, and I would agree with that. I was not surprised you asked about the sale of it! It became even more stunning by the very nearly total refurbishment the building underwent this year, which will be completed from October, as will a brand new, heated pool and natural stone surrounding area on the largest island. It's something to which I'm really looking forward, and as you say, will take this already wonderful property to a different level again.....!

Thank you for taking the trouble to post a review, Pat...and I appreciate your kind words. Although sleeping up to 8 people, you are right about even just a couple being able to enjoy everything on offer there, too. Glad you liked the 'treats' I left for you and your dogs, hope you enjoyed your honeymoon, and thank you for the booking!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday! It was a pleasure to meet you both (& Rocky !), & it most certainly would be a pleasure to meet you all again ....

I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves and the whole experience. We think it's quite a special place, too... You'd be very welcome back any time!

Merci beaucoup! C’est vrai : on peut passer des séjours merveilleuses au Moulin. C’est un endroit unique! Peut-être ça serait possible de se rencontrer une autre fois si vous revienderez dans l’avenir?!!

Thank you for your lovely comment, Mary.....I'd have to agree!

It's a nature lovers' paradise, with the dawn chorus being just as wonderful ! There are many riverside birds to be seen there, as you would expect. An added bonus if you don't actually live near water. Starlings, robins and sparrows are , in fact, the unusual visitors here. Lovely to have met you all, and glad you enjoyed your holiday with the new pool!

Thank you ! We've tried to make the inside of the watermill somewhat spectacular this year, so I'm glad you appreciated it, and are planning the same for a heated pool area next season that will be just as stunning. You'd be welcome back at any time to try it out!!

Yes...it 's quite rural, but not isolated and with the benefit of being only 5mins from the local little town which has all the usual French provincial amenities. Such is the nature of the location you feel quute cocooned from the outside world, and the recent renovations make for an altogether spectacular venue. You'd be welcome back any time.

Thank you for those nice comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves there - despite the rather unusually inclement weather you had! Yes...the islands are great for children to explore with some inventive (scouts??) parents even making trails for theirs, with signs, wigwams etc in branches! You'd be very welcome again at any time.

I'm so glad you liked the watermill, too! You're right, of course...both the windmill & the watermill are quite special, especially just for a couple. In fact I have another stunning house in another beautiful location on the edge of the Canal du Midi, too, that I'll show you next year. It actually sleeps 12 but couples are very well catered for there, too, with the flexible layout. Bilbo would also be in his element there, I'm sure. You'll be even more spoilt for choice, I suspect.....you need more holidays! Look forward to seeing you again next year...

Merci bien, Monsieur Sauvage! A bientôt, peut-être...

You seem to have fallen under the spell of the watermill as many others have before you, Lionel! I'm not surprised, however...as you said, it can be a magical place in which to spend some time - to unwind or not, as you choose. It is good for many age groups, and the sights and sounds there are second to none. In fact, the kitchen is even better this year, too, as it's just had a refurbishment. Hope to see you all again some time!
