The Mugnana Castle, which dates back over a thousand years ago, can accommodate 14 to 25 people (both in the medieval tower and in the main body of the castle). It has a beautiful panoramic swimming pool and is located close to all the most interesting destinations in Tuscany. The nearest city is Florence, a few kilometers away, and it is also an ideal base to visit Siena, San Gimignano and the rest of Tuscany. The castle is a suitable place for walking, mountain biking, horse riding and golf, and of course relax. The most high-end shopping outlet of Italy ("The Mall"), is 20 mins away, driving along a country road that starts from the castle.

Our stay at the castle

Giovanni and his crew were everything we could have wanted and more. This place was incredible. We stayed here and had our wedding here and it was one of the best trips. Everything was very clean and organized. We loved everything about this place. We will definitely be back.

3 Generations at the Castle

It was a wonderful time for our family of 18 at the castle. The grounds are wonderful. Giovanni was very helpful and the castle staff were friendly and accommodating.

Beautiful Tuscan Retreat

Beautiful Castle tucked away in the Tuscan countryside. I wished we'd had a car and maybe some A/C as it tended to get fairly warm in the Summer, but we knew that going in. I couldn't be happier with our stay. Chiocchio was just about a 15 minute walk away with a small cafe and a wonderful little restaurant, as well as a ~35 minute bus ride to downtown Florence.

Week in Tuscany

My wife, three kids and spouses, 5 grandchildren and 14 friends for 2 of 7 nights spent a week at the castle in the Chianti Classico region and had a blast. The owner and Vera were extremely accommodating and the castle was perfect. We visited wineries, Rome, Pisa, Siena and local towns. It was a bucket list dream come true vacation. Thanks to all for making it spectacular.

Well equipped

The kitchen was well equipped, had a big stove, 3 sinks, plenty of dishes, a separate coffee area with another huge sink. The castle gave each couple plenty of room for privacy and yet had space to gather, talk, play games....it is very spacious. It was hard to pick where to meet up because everywhere was so nice. As a family of 18 the big dining room worked perfectly for us. I loved setting the long table, cooking dinner and looking down the table with the family all so happy. The pool was wonderful although it was not real close it was fun. It was hard to leave the castle!

Fantastic

Everything was smooth from start to finish. Giovanni is a very nice person and very easy to work with. The castle was amazing! We had a wonderful time (13 of us) and will remember our stay here fondly! Vera was a joy., and we will actually miss her! The property is unique, I don’t know where else you can have this type of experience. It’s close to so many wonderful towns and wineries . So much to do, your problem will be deciding what to experience and what to leave for the next time. We had a formal dinner arranged for the last night and everyone thought it very special. I hope we make it back this way again sometime and if we do,, we’ll definitely stay here again. The pictures really don’t do the property justice, you have to be there to truly appreciate it!!

Incredible Stay!

In lieu of a wedding, we rented the castle for a long weekend family vacation. It was incredible! We had 14 people and all fit comfortably in the rooms. There are many common spaces. Giovanni recommend a wonderful private chef who we used for dinners and breakfasts. Taxis need to be booked far in advance or rent a few cars to get around. In Tuscany taxis tend to book out quickly. We had some family members traveling internationally and arriving early. Giovanni was very helpful in getting their rooms ready first so they could take naps and get settled in. The castle was so much fun to explore! The basement is a wild sight. The rooms were comfortable, large and had amazing views. Visit all of the rooms because they are each unique :) The suites have sinks and refrigerators, which was an unexpected surprise! There are many hiking trails nearby to explore. Bring your binoculars because there is great birding! The pool had shaded areas all day and sunny areas all day. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Magnificent Property in Tuscany

My wife and I got married here and brought 19 friends and family. It was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. During our stay we worked with several local vendors and taxi drivers to make everything run smoothly, we did day trips to Florence and Cinque Terre as well as the nearby Strada in Chianti. Everyone enjoyed the views all around the property and from each window. Tuscan sunsets here are magical. Our stay was in early October so the weather was perfect for a crew from Colorado and New Mexico mountains. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Looking forward to coming back one day. Truly 10/10 stay in Tuscany.

A lovely castle

We stayed with 16 other family members. The property is a very authentic castle with more rooms than I ever really appreciated. We were welcomed when we arrived. The grounds were fabulous. Pool was very nice. One concern is that it can be a little difficult navigating for older people (I am all most 70) as it is a castle with old stones and steep stairs. Nevertheless, we ALL loved it!

Exceeded expectations! Magical stay

We stayed in Mugnana Castle for Thanksgiving. There were 18 of us (multiple families). The coordination ahead of time with Giovanni made for a smooth arrival and overall stay (perfect English, effective communications, great attention to detail). The castle exceeded our expectations.... the pictures are accurate, but in my opinion don't do it justice. The whole location is magical and wonderful. Additionally, this served as a perfect jumping off point for Tuscan day trips. We spent a day in Florence, a day in Northern Tuscany (Pisa/Lucca) and a day in southern Tuscany (San Gimignana/Siena/Panzano). As well as coordinating for a big family feast at the castle for Thanksgiving. The day trips were nice, but hanging out at the castle around a fire in the kitchen in the mornings or living room in the evenings was honestly my favorite part. You can't go wrong with this rental.

Modern comfort in a Medieval setting

We rented this property between 14 friends, as a relaxing break after a wedding in the region. We had a wonderful time. The castle is set in the most beautiful surroundings, with wine tours on the doorstep and restaurants a short drive away in Greve. The castle itself is stunning, with lots of history. The facilities were great, with modern (but not plush) furniture and bedrooms. Use of the huge practical kitchen meant we were easily able to cater for our large group and the hosts provided a home cooked traditional meal on our request, for a very reasonable price. The host was very responsive, with the house/grounds-keepers nearby at all times - they couldn't do enough to help us ourlt during our stay. All in all, a fantastic experience.

Everything You Imagine

Booked the entire castle to host my family and friends for a couple of weeks. Giovanni (the host) is a wonderful person and is highly responsive to all our needs; the cleaning staff (Vera) was a delight and felt like family. The castle itself is fantastic and romantic and much larger than photos let on, with excellent facilities, and a lovely area where we saw both wild boar and deer outside the walls on a near nightly basis; and is a quick drive (15min) to Greve and Impruneta.

The perfect castle experience

Thank you Giovanni for letting us stay in your amazing castle. We were 22 danes staying at the castle just for a weekend. The pictures really don't do the castle justice - it's truly a marvellous place, and right in the Chianti wine region. We would want to come back :-)

fantastic experience!

We stayed here with a group of friends traveling from the USA and it was everything you could have ever immagined. We were a group of 17 and never felt crowded as we had booked the whole castle to ourselves. After having spent the day in hectic Florence, coming home to our castle in the hills of Greve in Chianti was a total joy!. We chose the option to have a 4 course dinner prepared for us. Our personal chef prepred our delicious dinner and it was served ito us by candelight....it was simply magical! No other words can describe the experience we had here. It was our first visit here and it surley wont be our last! Thank you Giovanni! Sylvia & Ron

Top Adresse, die noch nicht gross bekannt ist. Schöne Lage im Chianti mit Blick über die Weinberge , ausrechend täglich gepflegter Pool, Ruhige und dem Haus angepasst schöne grosse Zimmer, Alles in Allem wunderbar.

Unique and memorable stay

Overall, our stay at the Castle Mugnana was unique and memorable. The owner was very hospitable and the housekeeper was very accommodating. Her breakfast cakes were amazing! The kids loved the experience of being at the castle. Furnishings are dated but serviceable. Pool is in good condition. Be forewarned that groups are charged a sizeable additional daily fee (ours ended up being equal to 29% of the nightly rental). I think we would have felt better about this had it been disclosed at the time of booking, but we were only informed after we started asking questions about the amenities of the castle and locale less than 2 months before our stay.

This is a truly magical place. We found it on a lark last-minute and were blown away.

What a wonderful place! Incredible true 10th century castle expanded over many years since its original construction to guard from above the road between Rome and Siena. The accommodations are very basic yet entirely comfortable, and the owner Giovanni was a wonderful host. Vera who cooked and cleaned was delightful as was her husband Alfred. Our three children had the best game ever of hide and seek throughout the many rooms inside the mains building and magical tower. Spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside far from sight of major cities. Their Chianti was lovely too! Very much look forward to visiting again this magical place!

Incredible

We had a wonderful stay at the castle. From the moment you step foot on the grounds, it's truly a fairytale come to life. We rented to whole property with friends and family. The staff is amazing. Dolores was a wonderful cook and caregiver. We recommend hiring her for your entire stay. Total bliss. The location, privacy, views, comfort, space, everything. The photos are great but wait till you see the real thing. 5 stars!
