2 bedroom plus loft, spacious deck overlooking the peaceful, screen-in porch, crystal clear lake and private beach, private log cabin, full amenities including washer and dryer, full kitchen with all appliances, one of the clearest and cleanest lakes in Minnesota.
A unique cabin hide-a-way set in the majestic deep Minnesota woods with a private sandy beach, fire pit and true nature. Pontoon rental is available for $450/week or $80/day...please let me know if you want to add it..

Great for nature walks, relaxing, watching sunsets on the lake, and always good fishing. Enjoy the loon calls and lots of wildlife. Special boat conditions: any boats must be cleaned and certified as free of invasive species and jet skies are not allowed. Furry friends are welcome as long as they are good with other people and dogs (we have free ranging friendly dogs).
Our goal is to provide a outstanding 5 star experience for your trip with us so please reach out with any specific needs or questions about the space.

SUCH AN ADORABLE LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN. Secluded at the end of drive with next neighbor separated by lots of forest. Perfect for quiet fall walks down the gravel road. Very peaceful and quiet. The dogs loved the water and beach. My dogs don’t get a lake to enjoy so it was really a special treat for them. Public lake access close by. Pontoon to rent. Had lots of games and activities available on the property- canoe, kayak fire pit, volleyball on a rope game etc. green grassy area to play fetch.

Beautiful cabin on the lake

We had a great time during our stay. The cabin is very clean and updated, and communication with Penny was fantastic. The screened-in porch was a definite bonus for our family. All in all a great spot!

A Great Pace

We enjoyed our time at this secluded cabin. The fishing and lake were excellent. The cabin was clean and up to date. Our host was very responsive and helpful. I would recommend this spot if you want to get away from the everyday rush that life brings.

It was very relaxing enjoyed the beach the gazzabo the cabin but very little water pressure in the shower otherwise it was great will definatly stay there again in the future!

Mother daughters time

First vacation with grandchild without their parents!

Our 5, 5, and 7 year old grandchildren loved the dock and beach. So relaxing to watch them play. It doesn't take much to fulfill their needs. Your screened in gazebo was so helpful for the extra space for our kids to hang out-less sand tracked into the cabin. Lovely accommodations for us to build this grandparent muscle! You are close to Detroit Lakes so hunting for trolls was fun for us too. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

Returned and not sorry

We stayed here 7 years ago and loved it so when we decided to stay in MN this year it was an easy choice to return to Big Sugar Bush. The cabin accomodates our group well. Nice living/dining room, good kitchen, main level bedroom and large 2nd floor sleeping area. Only challenge is just 1 bathroom on the main level. Beach is sandy and no quick dropoff. We had good luck fishing from the dock. Rented the pontoon for the week. Ping pong in the basement was a hit as was corn bag toss. Plenty of firewood available. A fairly short drive up the road to a gas/grocery store, a liquor store, and an ice cream shop. Inatruction for handling garbage and recycles was good. TV and Internet were reliable. Host Plenny lives next door which is convenient. Know that her garden is at this rental location.

Northern getaway

We had a great time enjoying the peace and quiet this home provides. The lake is beautiful and there is a large deck to enjoy as well as a screened in gazebo. The home is well stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We had a great time, thank you!

Perfect for us!

The cabin was ideal for our group of 4 adults and two dogs. We enjoyed our relaxing long weekend and never had a need to leave the property.

A much needed reset!!

We had a great time at this cabin. The cabin was fully stocked with everything one would need. The fishing was amazing!! We canoed, got to watch fledgling bald eagle getting ready to leave their nest. Penny was a great host who was sweet enough to even offer us fresh produce from her garden while we were there. This would be a place we will visit again.

Unexpected house guests

Me, my kids, and my puppers had fun except for the unexpected mice guests. Dog found mouse poison in closet and a mouse trap on the floor. Last two nights caught 3 mice in the trap.

Always a great stay!

We keep returning every summer because this place has everything we need. The house is comfortable and clean, kitchen well stocked, the property is private and surrounded by trees, and our kids love the sandy beach. We love using the hammock, kayak, canoe, and fire pit too. This year we got to enjoy the screen porch and we spent a lot of time out there playing games and watching some tv. Thank you, Penny, for the great stay!

This is our 2nd trip to this cabin. Such a wonderful trip and cabin! Our kids had tons of fun at the beach, and many awesome family memories were made! A new addition to the property is a beautiful 3 season screened in porch with fan, lights and table and chairs. Our daughters had a super fun picnic in there while my wife and I had lunch on the deck. If I could give this cabin 10 stars instead of 5 I would! Very happy!! 😁👍

Beautiful beach

This is a great property. The lake is clear and clean and great for swimming. A really beautiful sandy beach that's great for lounging and for dogs and kids to splash around in all day. The house was clean and well-stocked. Even had a blender for us to have a margarita night!

Lovely beach

We really enjoyed the on site sandy beach. The cabin is remote enough that you don't see other neighboring cabins even though there are many cabins on the lake. Wifi was good enough to watch TV. Caught fish right off the dock. They are building a screen house that will be great to use when completed. Deck and patio furniture it very comfortable. Cabin had everything we needed for cooking.

A perfect stay

This was our second time at the cabin. It checks all the boxes for us. Cozy, well stocked cabin with comfortable beds. Private sandy beach for the kids to play and swim, canoe and kayak, fire pit for s’mores, ping pong in the basement, and tv with Netflix for rainy days. Penny is a great host and our kids love when her dog Tigger comes by for a visit. We already booked our week for next summer and are excited to use to the new screen porch being built!

Beautiful

Beautiful property. Everything you could want or need was there. You can tell Penny takes great care of the property. We had a blast fishing off the dock. Fishing off the boat we didn't catch much! Made smores in the fire pit. We all had a very relaxing fun time! My daughter and I fell in love with Tigger the pup. Thanks for a great stay.

My parents came to sugarbush when I was a youngster more than 30 some years ago and I now have a home there as do many of my relatives. It was such a gift to know and love this lake. I also own the local winery, Richwood Winery, and spend most of the summer in paradise.

My parent's home is special as it has a sandy beach , which is rare in this tree-lined , often steep banked lake. It is has been completely updated to provide modern conveniences while keeping the charm of the log cabin in the woods that my parents created.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

One of the cleanest lakes in Minnesota. Pontoon available for rent (the preferred method of cruising the lake), a canoe and kayak available for free on the beach, very quiet and isolated on a private dead end road. Dogs are welcome and because it is so isolated, most have been able to freely run round without worry. Fiber Internet, Netflix, UTube TV, blue ray are also there if you want it.
To be on one of the best swimming lakes in Minnesota with abundant wild life is an experience I want to share with others.
