The Agriturismo il Bastione is in Spello, in a historic building from the 13th century, a unique medieval architectural jewel, known as the former hunting lodge of the Baglioni, Lords of Perugia, rulers of Umbria in the Middle Ages.
Panoramic, of extraordinary scenic beauty, surrounded by a thousand secular olive trees, adjacent to the Subasio Natural Park, at 1,7 Km c. from the historic center of Spello, very close to Assisi, Perugia, Montefalco, Bevagna, Foligno .... to the most beautiful towns and villages in Umbria .. Refined and elegant environments. Restaurant with traditional Umbrian cuisine. The quality of the cuisine is enhanced by the vegetables, legumes and meat from the farm. Refined sweets to delight the days. Production and sale of the extraordinary extra virgin olive oil from the Spello hill. Inside the farm there are multifunction and entertainment rooms. Panoramic swimming pool with whirlpool.
The "noble" room has a panoramic view of both the Umbrian valley and the Subasio Natural Park. Original in all its medieval architectural elements, it is large in size with double-sided vaulted ceilings. Antique furniture and precious rugs further enhance its charm and elegance. We stayed at this property in Spello for two nights. There were certainly some highlights: the view from the house was stunning, and the fixed menu dinner offered on-site was a wonderful showcase of traditional Umbrian cuisine. The town of Spello itself is a gemā€”peaceful, picturesque, and full of charm. Every window and balcony in town had flowers.However, the access road to the property was a serious issue. Itā€™s a narrow, one-lane dirt road over a mile long, flanked by tall grasses that obscure hazards like large boulders and deep ditches. Only a small European car can realistically make it through, and thereā€™s no safe way to pass another vehicle. Every time we engaged on it during our stay we prayed that no other car was on it. And of course the inevitable happened: on our way out as we were departing on our last day we encountered an oncoming car driven by a local who refused to reverse. We were forced off the path and into a ditch, damaging our vehicle with chassis structural harm and subsequent flat tire which required towing. Because of the dangerous access and the severe consequences we experienced, I would not recommend this property, despite its otherwise lovely features.

Incredible Medieval Hunting Lodge and Fantastic Host!

Thank you so much for a great stay! The host is super responsive and accommodating and cooks an incredible breakfast! Great views and very close to the town of Spello. We would definitely return here the next time we are in Italy! Thank you again for a wonderful and memorable time!

How romantic, staying in a medieval tower! The property is lovely, the views are amazing, and the staff helpful. The dinner was a lovely sample of Umbrian cuisine.

Wonderful Farm House

Spello is a wonderful small town in the Italian countryside of Umbria and Il Bastione is a gorgeous place to call home while exploring. The food is amazing - both breakfast and their 5 course dinners different every night!

Positively breathtaking

We were completely overwhelmed with the beauty of the property, the surroundings, and the view. Our room (Nobiliare) was even bigger and more beautiful than it looked in the photo, the dining room was exquisite. We also relaxed with wine in and by the pool in total peace. Tina was sweet and so very accommodating. The homemade food and the fresh juice at breakfast was the best we have had on our entire trip. This is an amazing place to stay. I just canā€™t say enough about how happy we are that we made this choice.
