The bathroom is pretty old and a bit dingy. Could use a treatment of insect repellant and new tile. Bed was said to be a queen but definitely a long double. It was perfectly comfortable but a bit small. There’s a futon in the living room but no bedding available for it, so if you want to bring someone along, bring bedding. Kitchen was fine. It was clean. The oven was pretty weak. Where this cabin is situated, there is frequently a strong, chilly breeze, making it a bit too chilly come the evening (and I say this being familiar with other parts of the island and know that it’s just where this cabin is situated, a chilly, sturdy breeze comes down the waterway). The cabin felt very secluded and quiet. The beach was rocky. Nothing you’d want to have a beach fire on. Stonington was about 10 minutes away. Stonington kayak is a must. Fin and Fern was pretty good. Nearby is Deer Isle Village with a coffee shop and the Whale Rib. I absolutely advise against the Whale Rib. Waited over an hour for dinner that came out tepid. Lots of short hikes all over the island and Isle au Haut is a short mailboat ride away (totally worth it). Overall, the cabin was more rustic than other available cabins, but the price is great and you get what you pay for. We were comfortable.
