A beautiful hideaway on the famous Greek island of Hydra. Straight out of a fairy-tale, this is a gorgeous little village house, with a comfortable and bright living & sleeping space with amazing views of Hydra harbour and the sea from the windows. The house is totally private (the owner is not on site) with a lovely courtyard and garden as well as a roof terrace with a spectacular panoramic view. The interior is about 30m2 and the courtyard is somewhat larger. You can sit in the courtyard to have breakfast or sip coffee surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers, sunbathe on the roof terrace and, in the evening, have romantic suppers up there with a breath-taking panoramic view of the village and the sea, watching the lights of the boats coming and going in the harbour as the sun goes down.

This property for two people offers the unusual combination of being self-catered, with a two-tier garden and a roof terrace, all totally private, nothing shared and no landlord/owner nearby.

The house is fully air-conditioned for the summer and is also fully heated for the colder months of the year, making it a perfect hideout for the summer, autumn, winter, and spring. Simple and functional in its aesthetic, it has a fully equipped bathroom and kitchenette with all standard conveniences, including an iron, a cafetiere, a kettle, a toaster, a refrigerator, an oven and hobs with all cooking utensils supplied. We hope that our guests will appreciate and enjoy the house, not as a substitute for a hotel, but as a home away from home.

Famous for its traditional architecture and heroic history, Hydra is uniquely tranquil since no cars or mopeds are allowed on the island. The house is reached by walking up the shallow steps from the harbour (approx. 10 min), and shops, restaurants and other amenities are all nearby. You can walk to the popular rocky beaches in 15-20 minutes, or take a boat from the harbour to the sandy ones further afield. Hydra is popular among artists and food connoisseurs, and with a year-round expat community, the island remains lively all year round.

Little House - Great view

We enjoyed to be here for 8 nights. Communication with the owner was helpful. It’s something people will like if they are searching for a nice and simple house and a quiet place at night. It’s near the port.

Hydra was by far our favourite Island we visited in Greece. Communication with the host was excellent, she even coordinated the mules to help bring our luggage from the ferry to the house (well worth the 20!). The place is small and cozy but has what you need for your time on Hydra! The views from the rooftop terrace are beautiful and the island has a lot to see and do. We will certainly be coming back one day and would rent here again! Cheers from Canada!

Spectacular view

I would highly recommend this property. There are no addresses in Hydra. By time we found our studio apartment, we open the door to an amazing view of the city and sea. The view didn’t stop there the view from the patio and rooftop were just as stunning. This is centrally located get away, with comfortable beds and clean. The Property manager was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions.

penthouse in paradise

My wife and I are in our 70's, luckily widely traveled, but seldom have we found such a wonderful place to stay. Hydra is pure magic, and every day we started high above the port sipping coffee and watching the sunrise from our glorious roof deck. It was so glorious we didn't want to leave. But we tore ourselves away down many, many steps, along with cats and mules, to trek to monasteries and peaks and beaches. Then after a wonderful day, we loved the hike back up to a magnificent sunset with red wine, of course. The apt. is cozy and well-equipped, but who needs lots of space and things, with such a grand location. Thanks Sonya for a truly memorable experience.

Not up to today’s standards.

After an arduous journey we had to rearrange the furniture to make up some sort of double bed. One mattress is shorter than the other and in the night the beds separate. Didn’t know what linen to put on and spent ages trying to work out and then had to make the bed ourselves. No bedside lamps or tables and a very dangerous ornamental lamp that could not be used. The shower is the worst I have ever been in. unfortunately our visit was during the hurricane and we were forced to spend time inside. Very uncomfortable could not wait to leave. Overpriced! Nice view though.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We take our customer service very seriously and we appreciate all feedback. I think it would be fair for me to point out that the reviews our house on Hydra receives on this and other rental platforms are overwhelmingly positive – typically they are glowing (average 4.8 out of 5 on overall experience) and often point out that the house is particularly reasonably priced (70% awarded us 5 out of 5 on value for money). I am sorry you take a different view and I will certainly be addressing each of the issues where you feel there is scope for improvement. Just a few responses to your points, in the order you raise them: - The studio is advertised as having twin beds rather than a double bed, and the arrangement of the furniture is shown clearly in the photos on the web-pages (although we are of course happy for people to re-arrange the beds during their stay, as you did). - I’m concerned to hear, however, that the beds were not already made on your arrival. Our standard practice is to have the beds made under the settee covers (since the beds double up as a settee), so we apologise that this did not happen on this occasion. I have now discussed this with the cleaner to make sure there are no similar slips in the future. - The arrangement of the beds does not allow for bed-side lamps for both beds. However, there is a stand-alone lamp that includes a reading-lamp, suitable for this purpose. The ornamental lamp you mention is for the desk. There is no danger associated with it, other than the fact that the lamp shade is made of glass so, as you also indicate, it is better left on the desk. - Finally, I am sorry to hear that you didn’t find the shower satisfactory. I have asked our caretaker to see to it.
