One of the most suggestive destinations from a naturalistic point of view is Lake Pilate. The Pilato Lake is a mirror of mountain water located on Mount Vettore, in the massif and in the Monti Sibillini National Park at an altitude of 1,941 m s. l.m; the lake is home to a particular endemism, the Chirocefalo del Marchesoni, a small red crustacean measuring 9-12 millimeters that swims with the belly facing upwards. The area also has a very small insect called ditiscide, a black aquatic beetle of Boreo-Alpine origin.
