FREE INTERNET - IN THE WINTER HEATING INCLUSE The house is located on the hills above the town of Amalfi. It is an authentic ancient house of the Amalfi coast renovated with love; it is in a quiet inset surrounded by lemon groves, gardens and has a wonderful view over the sea.The apartment has a sunny living room with the balcony and sea view, a kitchen with hand painted tiles old style, a bedroom with double bed, a bathroom with cristal shower box and hand painted tiles old style. The house has also a large terrace with a table made of hand painted tiles where you can have your breakfast outdoor and enjoy a fresh relax in the evening when you come back home after you spent your day around the coast.
You can quickly reach the heart of Pogerola, with its shops, bars and restaurants by foot, climbing 120 steps on public stairway or by car using the little way passing near the house.
In the Square, the centre of the village, you found the bars where you can have an aperitif before a good dinner in the restaurants located around the Square.
During the day from Pogerola you can take some hikes, climbing ancient stairways, and you reach Amalfi, Ravello, Scala; walking along these stairways you will enjoy breathtaking views.
Staying at this house you will attend the many cultural and artistic happenings that take place throughout the year. If you are fond of archaeology, Pompei, Herculaneum and Paestum are easily within reach, and, of course, Naples and Salerno as well. If you love the trekking and hiking, you can take the several paths of the Coast, climbing and walking around to discovery the amazing panoramas of the sea from the mountains.

Lovely apartment, with to die for views

We had a lovely holiday, the flat, scenery, garden were all great. Sitting out on the terrace surrounded by the beautiful garden was one of highlights. The village of Pogerola has all you need and is perfect for us, as we can easily walk into Amalfi, or catch the bus, but then return to the peace and quiet, just how we like it. We will be back soon, thank you Giuseppe and Anna

Nous avons bien apprécié cet appartement avec vue imprenable sur la côte. C'est un petit appartement décoré avec goût et avec beaucoup de détail. Petite cuisine mais avec tout ce qu'il faut, salon avec balcon et lumière. Terrasse sûrement très agréable en été. Idéale pour deux personnes au maximum. Anna et Giuseppe sont très sympas et parlent aussi parfaitement français. Le parking peut être problematique pour ceux qui ont la (mauvaise) habitude d'avoir la voiture à côté, il faut garer la voiture au parking près de l'église, et prendre le beau chemin qui compte quand même plus de 170 marches. Cela ne pose pas de problème mais il ne faut rien oublier dans la voiture ou oublier d'acheter quelque chose dans la petite épicerie du village (sinon il faut compter 170 marches x 3 fois..., ça m'est arrivé, bien sûr). Le chemin qui passe à côté de la maison, continue à descendre jusqu'à Amalfi et c'est un excellent exercice. Je préfère la montée. Toute la côte est belle mais c'est hyper compliqué de prendre la voiture, déjà en hiver il n'y a pas une seule place où garer, alors je ne peux même pas imaginer en été. Le top est Capri, tranquille et avec des chemins sans voitures.

Stunning view, homely part of a real Italian village.

We have stayed here for 12 nights, in that time we have discovered all of the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Ravello is a must followed by sorrento. We opted for an over night stay in sorrento to get to Pompei, well worth a visit by train again only €9.60 for two return. We traveled only by public transportation. A mere €2.90 fro Amalfi to sorrento for the one and a half hour scenic ride. Don’t bother hiring a car the road along the Amalfi Coast is chaos. Our stay in Pogerola was peaceful, a great base to explore. 120 steps to town, you do get used to it....... but it’s hard on the legs. Bring a torch if you’re coming back at night, part of the path is unlit. Overall loved the whole experience, because that’s just what it is a truly wonderful holiday.

Just perfect for us

Giovanni, the owner, was very helpful in giving tips on what to do on our holiday. The appartment is tidy and kitchen was well-equipped. Location of the house is quiet and we enjoyed the view from up to the hills and the sea. Thank you!

I COULD LIVE THERE

I can't write or say enough about Anna and Giuseppe's villa. It was clean, gorgeous, comfortable and most adequate. The view was spectacular! The villa had all the amenities needed. The villa was very Mediterranean. The windows and doors all had screens. The air was fresh. The breezes were nice. I felt safe as did my girlfriend. We left the bedroom doors open with the screens closed every night for the five nights we stayed. Having a washing machine helped us a great deal. We had already been in Italy for six nights/six days. We were able to do a couple of small laundry loads and had fresh clothing for the last leg of our Italy trip. The town of Pogerola is so quaint. The locals are friendly. We especially enjoyed eating at La Caracara. It's a family owned restaurant and the food is superb. The family which owns the restaurant made us feel like family. Also, we enjoyed the Tea Room Bar. Maria, who is the owner's daughter, was kind. She speaks very good English and she's a beautiful young woman. Using the local bus line to and from Pogerola was easy and inexpensive. You must obtain a bus ticket before boarding the bus. Tickets are not sold by the bus drivers. The buses used were motor coaches. The drivers were proficient especially with all the curves they must drive. I highly recommend Anna and Giuseppe's villa. It's so nice that I could live there. We will definitely try renting this property should we return to Italy and the Amalfil Coast. Believe me. You won't be disappointed staying there.

Eindrucksvolle Lage oberhalb von Amalfi

Die 2- Zimmer-Wohnung liegt in Pogerola oberhalb von Amalfi. Die Anfahrt mit dem Auto erfolgt über eine sehr enge Straße und ist schwierig. Ein Parkplatz am Haus steht wegen der besonderen Bauweise im Hang nicht zur Verfügung. Die Unterkunft ist geschmackvoll und zugleich zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Besonders schön ist die große, mit Blätterdach überspannte Terrasse mit Blick auf die gegenüberliegenden Ortsteile und auf das Meer. Der Vermieter ist sehr hilfsbereit, gutes Informationsmaterial auch zur Nutzung der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel, die sich sehr empfiehlt, liegt bereit. Von hier aus hat man einen guten Ausgangspunkt zu allen touristischen Zielen der Umgebung: Positano, Ravello, Capri, Wanderung auf dem "Weg der Götter" und Ausflugsfahrten nach Pompeji, zum Vesuv etc. Einziger Kritikpunkt: die etwas feuchten Wände im Schlafzimmer

Lyst, dejlig atmosfære og flot beliggenhed

En rigtig lys og venlig lejlighed, med en skøn terrasse og små udendørs plateauer med smuk udsigt alle vegne. Pogerola er en hyggelig landsby, hvor man hilser på hinanden. Der er små lokale butikker, der kan dække de daglige fornødenheder, og et fint udvalg af restauranter. Er man til ro og fantastiske vandreture, er der masser af muligheder her. Så snart man bevæger sig fra huset, er der trapper op og ned, så bentøjet skal være i orden. Det kan anbefales at benytte offentlige transportmidler under opholdet, da trafikken er tæt, vejene er meget smalle og parkeringsmulighederne er få. Anna og Guiseppe er yderst venlige og var meget behjælpsomme under vores ophold. Vi vil meget gerne vende tilbage engang. Vi kan varmt anbefale stedet.

Great location and owners!

We had a wonderful 5 day stay in Pogerola at Anna and Giuseppe's appartment. It is clean and tidy with everything we needed. It is nice to get away from the rest of the tourists down in Amalfi and spend time in this charming village. Giuseppe was very helpful, picking us up when we arrived and dropping us off at the bus station in Amalfi when we left. We aldo enjoyed some of the restaurants, especially, La Carcara Thanks for a great stay. We recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a quiet location with a great view of the coast.

Stunning views and location

This is a lovely apartment set high above Amalfi. It is light and airy with double doors from the living room that open onto the balcony, the views are stunning. A large terrace allows you to eat outside. The accommodation is in good order throughout and the owners could not be more helpful. What we liked is that there are 4 exceptionally good family run restaurants in the Village, all a bit different but all serving exceptional food. We didn't need to drive anywhere else to eat in the evenings. I can't remember any other holidays where I've returned and raved about the food. I would like to think we will return one day.

Wenn man aus dem Fenster schaut, sieht man direkt aufs Meer, auf der Terrasse hat man den Duft von Jasmin in der Nase, die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet, die Gastgeber sehr nett, sie haben uns netterweise bei unserer Ankunft in Amalfi abgeholt, mit Tipps versorgt, zudem liegt jede Menge Informationsmaterial bereit. Pogerola ist ein typisches italienisches Dorf - es gibt einige Restaurants, aber kein Hotel, insofern gibt es nur wenige Touristen, etwas italienisch sprechen zu können, ist ganz hilfreich. Mit den öffentlichen Bussen ist Amalfi und von dort Ravello (wunderschön!) oder Positano (ebenfalls wunderschön) sehr gut zu erreichen. Und an der Küste kann man sich nicht sattsehen, ob von oben nach unten oder von unten nach oben:-) Herzliche Grüße Michaela & Viktor

Topspot at the Amalfie coast

We found this great house on Homeaway.com, what a find! Anna and Guiseppe welcomed us at there beautifull house in the mountains near Amalfi. They where very kind and helpfull. The house has a wonderfull view over the mountains and the sea from the sitting room. We enjoyed our stay very much. In short, don't mis this home when going to Visit Amalfi. Bob & Angelique

Traumurlaub

Leider sind wir jetzt schon ein paar Tage wieder zu Hause aber jeder schöne Urlaub geht einmal zu Ende. Wir haben 2 traumhaft schöne Wochen in Pogerola in der schönen Wohnung von Anna und Giuseppe verbracht. Man muss sich hier einfach wohlfühlen. Wer keinen Urlaub in einem Strandhotel umgeben von vielen Touristen machen möchte, ist hier bestens aufgehoben. Die Wohnung ist mitten in einem historischen Wohngebiet am Berg gelegen. Man hat trotzdem jederzeit seine Ruhe, bekommt aber doch in wenig vom dörflichen Leben ringsherum mit. Für uns war das ein Gewinn zumal die Anwohner im Dorf sehr liebenswert sind. Man grüßt sich auf der Strasse auch wenn man sich (leider) gegenseitig aufgrund von mangelnden Sprachkenntnissen nicht unterhalten kann - das war für und sehr schade. Ein freundliches Lächeln bekam man aber zu jeder Zeit. Etwas englisch sollte man sprechen, dann kommt man auf jeden Fall gut zurecht. Von unseren Vermietern, auf die man sich jederzeit 100% verlassen konnte, haben wir viele nützliche Tipps bekommen. Wir mögen individuelle Urlaube und waren somit sehr gut aufgehoben. In der sehr gepflegten und mit viel Liebe ausgestatteten Wohnung war alles vorhanden und wir haben die Stunden auf der schönen Terrasse sehr genossen. Viel waren wir allerdings nicht dort weil es einfach in dieser schönen Gegend viel zu viel zu entdecken gibt. Man kommt mit dem Bus und natürlich auch dem Schiff überall hin, wir haben auch viele Fahrten mit dem Auto gemacht. Hierbei haben wir auch die unkonventionelle Fahrweise der Italiener zu schätzen gelernt. Am Anfang erscheint es etwas chaotisch, aber nach einigere Zeit macht es sehr viel Spaß. Niemand beharrt auf seinem Recht und seiner Vorfahrt. Es ist zwar manchmal etwas anstrengend, aber wenn man den Bogen raus hat funktioniert es prima :-) Alles in allem können wir die Region und vor allem unsere Unterkunft mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen. Excellent views! Pogerola is a great stay

Excellent spot away from the masses. Pogerola is a 20 minute bus ride from Amalfi and well worth it. Anna & Guiseppe have a beautiful place here where the pictures truly convey the apartment, but can't begin to illustrate the views. Our stay was filled with many day trips from Amalfi, and for those we also did venture down the stairs on both Via Sopramare (right outside the front door), and Via Casamare (which is located in town). Sopramare seems to be a bit less travelled and a bit precarious. Casamare is a much more pleasant and scenic hike down into Amalfi, plus it is much less strenuous (Sopramare also had our calves aching for days). It's a shame we didn't spend more time just relaxing on the patio, but stormy or cool days kept us inside. The place is very clean, comfortable and private. Highly recommended. Tips: Wifi seems to be strongest in the bedroom, greet everyone you see with "Buon Giorno" or "Buona Sera", always pack a bottle of water and some nuts for any of these hikes into town...along with a camera.

Wonderful apartment with beautiful view

Dear Giuseppe and Anna Greetings from Denmark, and a big “Thank-you” for a wonderful week we stayed at your house in Pogerola. We really enjoyed our stay. So quiet and calm a village and everyone was so kind and helpful. Also superb food and dining at the restaurants – very delicious. The apartment was delightful – so clean and beautifully decorated. Most of all though we enjoyed the breathtaking view from the apartment. Every day – after being on an excursion – we would look forward to coming home and sitting by the French doors with a good book and glancing out at the mountains and the sea. Wonderful! And in the evenings it was just as delightful, sitting with a glass of wine, listening to your classical music and enjoying the “view by night”. Yes, we have many pleasant memories to savour. Thank-you so much for your hospitality and your kind way of being – we felt very much at home. It has been a pleasure to get to know you. Maybe we will get to visit you again in the future. A great base to explore the Amalfi coast

We had a lovely stay of one week at this property. Anna & Guiseppe were very welcoming and gave us plenty of information to ensure we made the most of our stay. The photos can't quite convey the magnificent surroundings, with a sheer mountain top to one side and views down to the sea on the other. The terrace is very private and secluded despite the closeness of all the properties on the hillside, thanks to the pergola covered by wisteria. We made the trip on the steps up to Pogerola many times, and the long journey down to Amalfi once, thereafter relying on the excellent bus service. Amalfi and the other towns along the coast are all very pleasant to visit and the scenery is magnificent, but we were always happy to return to the apartment in Pogerola, being a much calmer and quieter place than the coastal towns. We tried 2 out of the 3 restaurants in the village and enjoyed them both, especially the take-away pizza option. There are a few shops too which we used often for supplies and for bus tickets. The apartment had everything we needed and we found it very comfortable. The washing machine was very handy too and we used it often. Although we drove from Naples, we subsequently abandoned the car in favour of public transport due to the very winding nature of the roads. It's much more relaxing to let someone else worry about the driving. Although I did make one lengthy excursion to Paestum, which was well worth the trip. The must-see places for us were Ravello (particularly Villa Cimbrone, where I will stay once I have won the lottery) and Capri, where you can wander around traffic free lanes up to the Roman villa. All round we had a fantastic time in Pogerola and would like to thank Anna & Guiseppe for their hospitality. Well recommended for couples who might like to have a bit of peace and quiet in the evenings whilst still being within reach of all the sights.

Lovely retreat in the hills

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely little flat. A lot of care is taken to keep it clean and tidy and it had everything that we needed for our week-long stay. It is in Pogerola about 1,000 steep steps up from Amalfi and 150 steps down from the village square from which you can catch the SITA bus which is about a 15 minute trip down to Amalfi - it's not a long distance, but the roads wind back and forth down the hill to even out the steep drop. We did try the walk down the 1000 steps once, but it took about 4 days for our legs to fully recover from the effort (and the shakes!), so we stuck to the buses after that! From what we could tell there are 3 main restaurants in Pogerola, each very warm and welcoming. There are also a few shops to provide for your self-catering requirements, though we did purchase a few items from Amalfi as well. The cocktail bar, akin to a beach-side cafe (try the lemon granita - extremely refreshing!) has breathtaking views to the sea, as does the flat itself. The bathroom is sufficient and the shower powerful which is always nice. There is a small washing machine which was very useful, as we stayed there in the middle of a 3 week tour of Italy, so it was nice moving on to the final leg of our tour with clean clothes! There is plenty of cupboard and hanging space and we also found the bed quite comfortable. Many thanks to Anna and Giuseppe for a very pleasant stay. I have no qualms in recommending this flat to anyone who is reasonably fit and fancies getting away from the hustle and bustle of the larger Amalfi coastal towns.

Perfect little home at the Amalfi Coast

Wir haben eine wundervolle Woche in dem Apartment verbracht. Die Wohnung ist ausgesprochen geschmackvoll und auch praktisch eingerichtet. Auch in der Küche ist alles Notwendige vorhanden. Anna und Giuseppe sind sehr herzliche Gastgeber. Trotz der Lage hoch oberhalb von Amalfi ist das Apartment gut mit dem Bus zu erreichen; wir haben unser Auto kaum genutzt. Man kann endlose Wanderungen unternehmen und Amalfi ist als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge ideal. Wir können das Apartment uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Great base for exploring the Amalfi Coast

Dear Anna and Guiseppe We are now back at home and just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your lovely apartment. It was very well equipped and a very relaxing place to use as a base to explore the Amalfi Coast. The village of Pogerola is a very peaceful place and the views from the balcony were beautiful. We hope to return one day in the future. For anyone thinking of staying here, we cannot recommend it highly enough. The views are beautiful, the apartment cosy and very well equipped and the owners very welcoming and helpful. I would say however that you need to be relatively fit as there are quite a few steps involved when you are walking back and forwards to the apartment from the village square. But dont let that put you off because we are in our mid 40's and managed pretty well !!!

Magical Costiera Amalfitana

We've stayed at this magical place for a week and regretted that we could not stay longer! Allessandro was a charming and helpful landlord (Anna and Guiseppe were on holidays) providing us with local knowledge and tips. The flat is very tasteful, very clean with spectacular views and the veranda is just a treat! You have to be fit if you want to walk down to Amalfi (and back, which is more to the point) but there is an excellent bus service from Porgerola (get a three day ticket for 18 Euros) . Our ambitious plans to visit Naples, Capri, Pompei and so on didn't come to anything because we enjoyed Amalfi, it's beaches, Porgerola and the local walks too much. But don't miss a boattrip to Positano! And a glass of Prosecco in front of the dome in Amalfi is another highlight - the front of the dome glows golden in the evening sun. It's easy to get around and you are spoilt with beautiful views where ever you are. Supplies for breakfast and lunch can easily be bought in Porgerola and there is no shortage of Restaurants. We had some fantastic meals. It's a place where you can choose how to be: with the crowds or on your own.

Lovely little apartment with a breathtaking view

We stayed in May for a few days and enjoyed it very much! The interior of the apartment is in the best of taste and very comfortable. Anna and Giuseppe gave us a very warm and personal welcome. There is everything you need. Away from touristy hustle it is also the perfect spot for walking-tours. In walking distance there are several little restaurants and a "osteria" with very good food and decent price. Also for shopping facilities it is not necessary to make the way to Amalfi. We would highly recommend it for couples, private ambiance is warranted.

And in more you will find the quiet of the surround away from the busy downtown, hearing the birds in the morning and the crickets in the evening.
