Family-Friendly Authentic Ranch Experience on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River

Welcome to Rivers West Ranch, a 2,100 acre retreat located about 2 hours west of Dallas/Fort Worth right on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. Come relax in the spacious Ranch House atop Johnson Mountain with 3 bedrooms (sleeps up to 12), 3 baths, a great room with pool table, ping-pong, games, and even dancing; and a state of the art chef's kitchen. Another sleeping option is the 2-sided Bunkhouse where each side can sleep up to 8 people comfortably with a roomy bathroom.

Enjoy the hammock on the breezy porches; view the meandering Clear Fork of the Brazos River reflecting the spectacular sunsets and relish the never ending twinkle of the stars under the big Texas sky. Other activities include: fishing, walking, hiking, running, biking, kayaking, washers, horseshoes, skeet/target shooting, photo safaris featuring the flora and fauna of the area. Guests also enjoy the fire pit, singing and smores!

Great Weekend Gateway With Friends

Had an amazing time at this spacious family ranch home. Clean, spacious, secluded and the views were absolutely breathtaking. Communications during booking with Katie was good, she responded in a timely manner. Joe took his time and showed us around the property. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Definitely will try to book again in cooler weather. Thank you so much for hosting.

Family Christmas 2022

We had a fantastic experience and holiday. Despite the frigid freeze outdoors, we were able to find plenty to do and enjoy quality time together playing pool, ping pong, and playing games, we also shot skeet when temps warmed up and fished a bit. Something for the entire family. Owners and maintenance person were all great to work with. Highly recommend this venue for any gathering. We will be back!!

Getaway Gathering

This place was more awesome than I ever imagined it would be. From the moment we checked in, the property owner was there and literally spent as much time with us as we wanted just showing us everything and even took us around the property on our side-by-sides to give us the full view of the landscape. It was fun for everyone and the house is very spacious. We will be going back over and over again.

So Beautiful!

Such an amazing property. Despite the 100+ temps, we managed to have a fabulous time. We brought our ATV's and explored the property. The meteorite field was a favorite for the teens. They loved the treasure hunt! The clay shooting and hog hunts were such an unusual and fun activity for a vacation. The boys (and girls) loved it. Fishing in the mornings, stargazing at night... a great time! We'll be back for sure!

Nice getaway for large family or group

Place was immaculate and well stocked. It has everything you need except whatever food you want. Hosts were as accommodating as possible, but I had a little concern here. Both the male and female hosts were unable to physically come to the property. Someone should have greeted us to simply show us around the lodge, tell us how to use appliances and where things are, etc. This is a huge place and it would be time well spent for host to be present at check in (even simple things like letting us know what to do with garbage-later found out that had to haul garbage back down to front gate where dumpster is located-nothing large enough at house to hold garbage for several days for large groups). Also, no one was able to come show us where the fishing ponds were located on the property (1,500 acres of land and hosts not able to show us where several fishing ponds were located). All in all was a nice get away from every day life in the city, very clean, plenty of space and well stocked. Just wish hosts would have been able to come to the property. One was out of town and the other was busy moving.

Beautiful property and home

The house was large an accommodated our group very well. We had plenty of room to space out and a huge table to dine on. The only thing I would say is that I wish the refrigerator was cleaned. Other than that we had a fantastic time!! The host was VERY accommodating! Thank you!!

Joe and Katie were amazing host!! Best VRBO we’ve ever stayed at. Joe was there to greet us and show us around. Ranch house was super clean and had everything we needed. Fully stocked kitchen. Skeet shooting was amazing, Joe was great with all of us beginners. Meteorite hunt was super!! Grandkids loved it!! Pool fishing was a huge success too! We will be back!!! Thank you so much!!! Donna

Best Vacation Ever!

This beautiful slice of heaven meet and exceeded our expectations. There are no words to describe the property itself, the view, the activities, and the friendliness and wisdom and guidance of the owners. We had people of every age and background, and there was plenty to do for them all. You can relax and enjoy the gorgeous view and sunsets, hike, explore for neat rocks and meteorites, lounge in the hammock (and bring extras!), cook and bake with the wonderful appliances (we celebrated two birthdays here and baked two cakes), hunt many types of wild game (depending on time of year), bird watch, fish for bass, crappie, catfish, perch, etc., learn how to set trot lines, have fish fries, hang out near the covered fire pit and make S'mores, watch wildlife (deer, hogs, bobcats, wild turkeys, cattle, etc.), etc. The list is endless, and we have made friends for life. Adventure and relaxation await here. I am recommending this place to everyone I know! Enjoy!

Great group getaway

what a great property for a quick getaway with a small group - we had 9 kids from 18 to 8. they all had a blast and the parents got to enjoy some wonderful weather and scenery. We'll do this again.

Rivers west ranch

We had an absolute blast at Rivers West Ranch. Gorgeous house with a beautiful view just about anywhere on the property. We got several catfish on the river and cooked out while enjoying the company and peace of friends and family. I would recommend this to anybody!

90th Birthday Party

We held my father’s 90th family birthday at this ranch and it was the perfect setting. The ranch has numerous activities for all ages, beautiful Texas scenery, with accommodating hosts.

Katie and Jon were very accommodating from arranging the time of booking until we left. A beautiful location and well maintained property with more activities than we had time for. The Great Room is massive and a great gathering space. They have a very well equipped kitchen, pool table, ping pong table and great sound system. The view from the porch is far better than the pictures capture and a great place to relax. Jon was an excellent guide and led us on a very safe and successful hog hunting experience as well as skeet shooting for our large group, especially given that some of us were beginners. Looking forward to returning in the future to spend some more time hiking and kayaking. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Perfect for family reunion

Awesome ranch

Had a great time at Rivers West Ranch with friends and family. The owners are very welcoming and the accommodations were excellent. We caught over 20 catfish while trot lining in the river and caught some bass on their private ponds. Highly recommend this ranch as well as the extra activities they offer.

Teachers with no kids!

This is the second year that our group of still teaching and retired teachers have spent a weekend at Rivers West Ranch. It is the perfect place for us. The location is beautiful and secluded. The house is very large, wonderfully furnished, and comfortable. We walked the trails more than once each day and enjoyed sitting on the deck looking at the amazing view. What an excellent get-away!

Perfect Getaway!

RWR is a great place to go with family and friends, and is big enough for them all! It is very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Each room has a cute theme to it, and overall the house is just beautiful! Nothing can beat the view from the back deck that is perfect for hammock-ing, sitting, and watching the sunset/sunrise. This place truly feels like a home away from home, and is ideal for a family or group who wants to get away from the noise of the city and spend time together. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know!!
