Castello di Montegufoni is an exclusive location to spend wonderful holidays in the heart of Chianti Region.
Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.
The Chianti Region is one of the most renowned charming area in Italy for its cultural, historical and enogastronomic traditions. This luxurious Castle offers to our guests incredible holiday experiences (on request) such as cooking lessons, event location, guided tours and more!

Distances from the villa: the small village of Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
A bus stop with busses to Florence is only a few meters from the castle away. Bikes and scooters for rent are available in Montespertoli.

At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A nice restaurant offering nice recipes of the local Chianti tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Tuesdays). Laundry with shared washing-machine (€ 4,- / per washing). WI-FI internet connection available in some apartment, in the reception and restaurant area.

Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 50,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 100,- / per week) both payable locally.

You definitely need a car, as there's really nothing within walking distance. That said, the location was perfect for us, with easy access to Montespertoli, as well as Florence, Siena and Lucca. The pool was a godsend for the hot weather. Restaurant was delicious and a beautiful relaxed atmosphere.

Our accommodations at the Montegufoni were adequate with most of the conveniences we anticipate at this price point. The castle is beautiful and the Tuscan country side in the area is awesome. The restaurant, grounds, pool, and patios were all excellent. Unfortunately, the apartment that we stayed in was not actually in the castle, which was highly disappointing. Although we anticipated no air conditioning, having the windows open at 93 degrees with no screens gave us a lot of mosquito bites, and the noise from the road outside of the apartment made it hard to sleep. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay, but disappointed that it was not the castle stay that we anticipated.

What an amazing and beautiful place. It was like a fairytale castle Our villa was beautiful and the views take your breath away.. The grounds are stunning, the pool was lovely and very clean. We ate at the restaurant which was really lovely with great food and service. Pisa and Florence are all within just over an hours drive away. We wish we could put into words how amazing this place is, our advise is to stay and see for yourselves, you will not be disappointed. We stayed with our 2 children (daughter of 14 and son of 11) it was ideal as they loved the pool and grounds. We were by the pool either first thing in the morning or later on in the afternoon after a day out and is always clean with places to relax by it. All the staff was very kind and friendly. Like I said there really are not enough words to describe this place and it’s beauty. We would most certainly go back and recommend it to others.

Montegufoni castle is absolutely beautiful. Staying in the cottages was a great value for money way to experience this beautiful part of Tuscany. Use of all the castle amenities included, which are lovely - beautiful pool, fantastic restaurant, space to roam with children - we used the chest of games in the reception area, drinks from the bar enjoyed on the terrace. The cottage gave us the space we needed and has air conditioning in both bedrooms which made sleeping comfortable when we visited at the beginning of August. Very handy for Florence - we visited 2 days and drove in and parked in about 40 minutes. We stopped in pisa on the way - about an hour away. Accomodation was clean and had everything we needed. Loads of space and beautiful views. Wifi was great. We had a toddler with us and the cottage does have a stone staircase which we had to be mindful of. Good shower. We were welcomed warmly and shown around. We loved our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

Un castello e sito bellissimi, i giardini e la piscina sono ben curati,al ristorante il cibo è molto buono, gli impiegati sono molto gentili e simpatici. Si parla l’inglese molto bene! Siamo arrivati tardi la sera, e si pagano 25 euro per il late check-in che non ci dava fastidio- ma visto che il castello è in buio sarebbe una bella idea accendere le luci (che ci sono) per facilitare l’accesso?! L’appartamento stesso è vecchio quel che si aspetta vicino ad un castello, sfortunatamente anche poco pulito. Il bagno è improvvisato- che anche quello non si aspetta altro visto che all’epoca non erano le esigenze di oggi- ma si potrebbe restituire un sedile del water che si era rotto non so quando … Riassumendo dirò che sarebbe il posto giusto per un soggiorno per pochi giorni è con tempo splendido.

Castle Montegufoni verspricht nicht was die Fotos sagen

Der Ort ist eigentlich ein schöner Ausgangspunkt für Reisen in die Toskana. Die Unterkunft ist allerdings sehr sporadisch. Man sollte sich nicht von den Fotos im Netz leiten lassen. Die "Rezeption" im Schloss erschien sehr unaufgeräumt und war von jungen Leuten besetzt, irgendwie ohne echtem Niveau. Wir waren im Nebengebäude untergebracht, direkt mit den Fenstern zu einer doch häufig befahrenen Straße. Der Schlaf war dadurch doch beeinträchtigt. Es waren nicht vorhanden: Klimaanlage, Geschirrspüler, Mikrowelle, sämtliche Reinigungsmittel. Geschirr sehr knapp (nur für 4 Personen). Wir waren 4 Erwachsene, erhielten aber nur einen Schlüssel. Die Türen im Innenbereich konnte man nicht schließen, wir haben sie angelehnt und von innen Steine davor gelegt. Es waren 2 Bäder zugesagt, eines war lediglich eine Nasszelle von 1,5 qm ohne Tür und jegliche Ablagemöglichkeit. Der kleine u Außenbereich war mit absolut alten Stühlen versehen und überhaupt nicht gepflegt. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmte absolut nicht (zu teuer). Ich empfehle die Unterkunft nicht weiter.

Schöne Anlage, welche jedoch einiges an Unterhalt und Verbesserungen gebrauchen könnte. Leider war die Wohnung nicht sauber: voller Staub, Spinnweben an Decken und Wänden. Schlechtes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis!

We stayed here a few nights for a wedding on the property and had a fabulous time! The staff were so nice and polite, the apartment was very spacious with a great patio, and the set up for the wedding was beautiful. The best part was that the views from the back garden are stunning! I would definitely recommend renting a car and coming to stay here.

Staying at Castello di Montegufoni was a dream come true! The castle is amazing, there is so much to explore. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and have all the appliances needed for an enjoyable stay. We traveled with our two small children and we had everything we needed to feel like home. The staff at Montegufoni were very helpful. They gave us local tips, made dinner and wine tasting reservations, provided us with maps and directions on how to get to different towns around the area. We are already planning our return next year. Thank you for a wonderful time!
