Absolutely stunning apartment. Right in the middle of everything.Plenty of restaurants, bars and shops within a 5 minute walk. A beautiful park opposite and absolutely amazing views. We will definitely recommend this apartment to anybody coming to Funchal.

Stunning views of Funchal

Check in and check out process was flawless. The unit was super clean and was greeted with Mediera wine and ginger snaps. Situated in a very central location with amazing views of the ocean and downtown Funchal. Walking distance to endless restaurants/shops and attractions. Would stay again!

A nice apartment with beautiful views. Perfect location for enjoying Funchal.

This was our first VRBO experience and it could not have been any better. The apartment was lovely, clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Madeira. The owners were quick to respond to any questions, they arranged for airport pick up and drop off and provided us with fresh fruit, Madeira cake and coffee to welcome us!

Exceptional Madeira stay

This property was EXCELLENT! We really enjoyed our stay in Madeira. This property is in an excellent location, very central to all tourist activities. The indoor parking was a huge bonus for us. The apartment exceeded our expectations. The view of the port from our balcony was wonderful to wake up to every day. We will be back for sure!

Great property for exploring the city

Clear communication from host throughout our stay. Apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped for self-catering. Great to have the outdoor balcony with a great view of the harbour - especially when the firework display happened! Near to local bakery and supermarket when we wanted to eat in the apartment and lovely, friendly cafe in the nearby park for tasty fresh hot coffee, cold drinks and food, very friendly staff too! There’s so much to do on the island (bus tours, boat trips, walking tours) and all easily accessible, within a short walking distance from the apartment. Or just enjoy wandering the pretty cobbled streets and see where you land up, there are so many restaurants and coffee bars to choose from. We hope you enjoy the city & island as much as we did and this property is an ideal choice for doing so.

Everything about this place was wonderful from the time we booked it until the time we left. The host was very good at communicating everything you need to know about directions to the place, checking in and accessing the parking garage if you rent a car. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed as well as a little basket of treats/coffee etc. The balcony was great for having our morning coffee or evening drink and had a nice view of the water. The only thing preventing this from being 5 star was the fact that there was no air conditioning and since we were there in the middle of July it was very hot outside. There was a fan that helped inside the apartment but other than that the place and host were perfect. We would stay there again.

The apartment is accessible and in a wonderful location, we felt like we were in the centre of everything we wanted to see and do. Tours are easily accessed from here, the sea view was stunning and the park opposite is very peaceful. Parking was available and instructions were very clear - even when our pre-booked airport taxi didn't show, there were affordable taxis just a short walk away even in the middle of the night! The apartment itself had everything we needed and was very stylish and clean. There were plenty of appliances and the bathroom was spotless. The bedroom was functional with enough storage and even power banks with adapters included. We were both very impressed by the quality of the apartment and the balcony was very useful to cool off and dry items after swimming! Catarina was excellent throughout, fab communication and very informative. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful Stay

We loved our stay at this property. The place was immaculate. Our hosts arranged for our pickup to and from the airport. They greeted us upon arrival at the apartment. They were available for any requests and had fruit and wine waiting for us. If we wished we were able to access housekeeping services for a small fee. We had plenty of room in this place, love the windows and patio doors which opened to let in the breeze from the ocean. We sat on the balcony in the morning watching the sun rise and enjoying breakfast. We loved having the washing machine. Many restaurants are in the vicinity as well as shopping. Super zentrale Lage

Das Objekt liegt mit Blick auf den Hafen im Umfeld von verschiedenen Restaurants und guten Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Der Balkon ist einfach spitze. Auch sie Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin war prima. Wir können die Wohnung auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Prime downtown location

Real estate agents have long championed the dictate that the three most important considerations in an apartment purchase are location, location and location. Joao’s and Caterina’s apartment ticks all the boxes in this regard by being in the middle of downtown Funchal right in the centre of everything just steps away from the main east west thoroughfare, Avenida Arriaga, Old Town is just a fifteen minute stroll away with the harbour a mere five minutes walk away. It is an area full of the hustle and bustle of life in a vibrant city with restaurants and shops galore and a well stocked supermarket just around the corner. The park opposite is an oasis of green giving one the chance to commune with nature by admiring the blossoms on the massive trees , the colourful flora and fauna and the incessant chirping of the birds that inhabit the park. Once inside their 4th floor apartment the view from the balcony is stunning. It is truly the most scenic view over any city we have ever visited. The arrival of a cruise ship in the early light of dawn ; the striking of the clock in the nearby church’s bell tower at midday ; the departure of a fully illuminated cruise ship at dusk and the winking of lights in the houses of Funchal high in the hills above the town are sights and sounds we shall long remember. Other guests have remarked on how well the apartment is equipped, especially the washing machine which was a boon to us during our six weeks stay. The apartment is equipped with every labour saving device that one could possibly want. It was spotlessly clean on arrival. The welcome gift of madeira wine and fruit was much appreciated. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the end of our stay co-incided with the arrival of the corona virus and the enactment of the State of Emergency which resulted in all foreigners being told to leave the Island as soon as possible. We have to thank Caterina for shepherding us through the difficult days that preceded our departure when she was relaying to us the requirements of the State of Emergency. It is quite unnerving to be two foreigners in a town under lock down especially with no knowledge of Portuguese. Without Caterina’s help I’m not sure we would have made it off the island in the time allowed. We have every intention of returning next year if the situation allows. Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your superb accommodations Ian and Lynne McLeod

Perfect property location and hosts

Reading the reviews covers all the bases 1) João e Catarina very friendly booking in very efficient we knew what we were doing so didn’t have to disturb João e Catarina but they still checked to see if we were ok 2) Very good location had a couple of very simple beer and salad meals in the park opposite 3) Supermarket an easy stroll away 4) Fabulous having the washing machine 5) View from apartment was excellent first time in 15 years have seen the June fireworks in comfort. We had a great stay in the apartment will be using them again

This was a lovely one-bed property which had a view out to Funchal Bay. The property was very clean and had everything you would need, all quite new. The kitchen was small but well stocked with equipment. All communication was great, before and during our stay. Catarina organised transport to and from the airport and was there to meet us when we arrived. There was fruit in the fridge and various other bits and pieces when we got there. The location was very convenient in a lovely part of Funchal. The old town was only a short walk away - 10 to 15 minutes.

beautiful and well furnished apartment with spectaculair seaview

We stayed for two weeks in the apartment of Catarina and Joao. They are very friendly hosts who take really good care of their guests. The apartment is beautifully situated downtown Funchal, has a well equipped kitchen, good bed and nice balcony with a spectaculair view at the harbor. We were welcomed by Joao, who had also taken care of transport from and to the airport. Wonderful holidays thanks to our hosts, we will definitely come back.

Sehr schöne, ruhige und zentrale Ferienwohnung

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit in der Ferienwohnung. Ganz lieben Dank an Catarina und João für das Organisieren des Taxis vom und zum Airport, für die saubere und wunderschöne Wohnung und die Willkommensüberraschungen!! Die Wohnung liegt absolut zentral und ist sehr ruhig. Jeden Morgen konnten wir ein neues Kreuzfahrtschiff vom überdachten Balkon begrüßen. Für unseren Mietwagen stand kostenlos ein Platz in der Tiefgarage bereit. Es gibt sehr viele empfehlenswerte Restaurants in unmittelbarer Nähe. Alles in allem der perfekte Ort, um Funchal und Madeira kennen und lieben zu lernen!! Wir können die Ferienwohnung nur weiter empfehlen! Liebe Grüße von Ursula und Achim

Exceeded expectations

The apartment was spotless, modern. And had everything we needed . It was in an amazing area and the parking was very helpful and easy. Loved the balcony . The view is better than the pic shows . You can see the mountain to the left and the city at night . Host responded right away when we had a question about something in town .
