Really good place for a family with children. Clean and well looked after. Plenty of books and boardgames to keep kids entertained. 5 mins walk to Sands. We had a great stay and would definitely come back!

Our stay at Looney Dunes

We had a lovely 7 day stay here. I could not believe how well equipped the house is. There is everything you could possibly want or need. Thank you so much Chris and Jenny we will definitely be back in the future.

Fantastic stay in Camber Sands

We couldn’t have asked for more from our mini holiday- 4 days of great weather, and a great holiday home in a fantastic location close to the beach. Chris the property owner was absolutely lovely, quick to respond to questions and requests, and the welcome basket and home tour was gratefully received. Highly recommend Looney Dunes to families, buckets and spades aplenty, toys & books and a lovely kids room. Thanks for a brilliant stay!

Excellent

We had a cracking long weekend here. 5 mins flat walk to the sandy beach (even closer if you lump it over the hill). Chris and Jenny met us at the house and explained everything we needed to know. They were also super accomodating setting things up for our toddler in advance (gates/cot/chair). Thanks to the hosts.

The pictures of this property looks a lot better than what it is. The positive points of this house is that it is very clean and they have really good bedding, butThe house is in a very busy, noisy area. The seagulls are all over the house and you cannot sleep with windows closed to block the noise, because there are no air-conditioning. So we had nine sleepless nights. The beach is extremely crowded and dirty. I will never go back.

Thank you for your feedback praising how clean Looney Dunes is and how comfortable the beds are. You are the first guests in 10 years not to leave us a 5-star review so I feel I should address your annoyances to give your comments some context. The reasons that you give for not enjoying your stay were not issues that we could control. Let me explain. 1. The photos are a true reflection of the property except perhaps for the gardens which are currently suffering due to the drought. 2. The house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of Camber village close to the famous dunes. We are right next to one of England's best beaches and so there will always be the noise of seagulls nearby... they are certainly not "all over the house" as you put it. To mitigate, we have anti-seagull strips on our roof and anti-bird netting around our solar panels. 3. Unlike the USA, most private properties in England do not have air-conditioning and we didn't mention that it did in the listing description. However we did provide tower cooling fans for each of the 3 bedrooms which you seemed very happy with when I showed you around during your welcome tour. You even mentioned that you had the same models at home. 4. As the only long stretch of golden sands in the area, Camber is a very popular holiday destination. You visited at the height of one of the hottest, driest summers that the UK has ever experienced and it's hardly surprising that the beach was busy. We make every effort to ensure that all our guests enjoy their stay at Looney Dunes. And until now, everyone has. We are very sorry that you had a less-than-ideal experience.

Wunderbarer Urlaub

Hübsches gut ausgestattetes Ferienhaus.Alles war so wie beschrieben. Sehr netter Vermieter mit super Kontakt vor und während dem Urlaub. Sehr nah zu einem tollen Strand und gute Infrastruktur im Ort. Auch mit unserem kleinen Hund hat alles toll funktioniert.

wunderschöner Urlaub

Wir wurden bei der Ankunft gleich sehr herzlich (inklusive selbstgebackener Cookies und Brot) von Chris empfangen und durch das Ferienhaus geführt. Da Chris und Jenny das Haus auch selber für Urlaube nutzen, fehlt es wirklich an nichts. Eigentlich bräuchte man nur einen Rucksack mit ein paar Klamotten mitbringen, wenn da nicht immer noch der ganze Platz im Auto wäre. :) Alles sehr sauber und in sehr guten Zustand. Zum Strand sind es nur wenige Minuten. Man hat sogar den Vorteil einen Strandaufgang zu nutzen, an dem kaum Parkplätze sind. Dadurch ist hier auch weniger los. Wir haben auch viele Tipps für Erkundungen in der Gegend bekommen. Gerade Hastings, Rye und natürlich London sind sehr sehenswert. Wenn das Regenwetter doch mal zuschlägt, kommt im Haus sicher keine Langeweile auf. Es ist genügend Unterhaltung vorhanden. Mein ganz besonderes Highlight war der alte Plattenspieler inklusive gefühlt 200 Schallplatten. Sehr schön. Wir können das Ferienhaus nur weiterempfehlen. Besser geht es fast nicht.

Great Short break!

"Looney Dunes" is lovely property and was perfect for our weekend break at Camber Sands. My little four year old loved the games in the living room and the books in the kids bedroom were a lovely touch. The property is in a fantastic location right by the beach and we had some great food at the local cafes/restaurants that were also just a short stroll away. We arrived later than expected but it wasn't an issue at all. The communication with Chris was fab and he was very accommodating! We hope to visit again in the near future!

Great stay at a great place

We had a great time + we got way more than expected. We - family of five - wanted a beach, a house and some calmness. We got it all and in addition all kind of toys for the beach/the garden/inside + Prime + Xbox + cool Books. In addition, the hosts Chris & Jenny are also very nice. Regarding the location Cambers / Ray = nice beach, windy (English coast), great fresh fish shops, a nice playground for kids nearby, a lot of locals (not only tourists)

Fantastic House by the beach

Chris made sure the house was perfect for our arrival. It has everything you need for your family. It’s the prefect little simple beach retreat near the wonderful Camber sands only minutes away! Couldn’t recommend it more. The beach stuff for the kids and beach towels were brilliant and helpful, the honesty “I forgot something” at the supermarket cupboard is a brilliant idea. The kids loved the garden and the sofa in the lounge and great to have a drive for parking! Great stay and great host!

Cracking Camber

We spent the most wonderful May bank holiday at Looney Dunes. Chris was very communicative from the outset and went out of his way to make sure we had all the provisions and information we needed from the outset. After a slight oversight (on our part) around check in times he and his housekeeper were very accommodating and understanding. The house was perfect as a little bolthole for enjoying the Bank Holiday break for our family of 5 and 2 x dogs. Everything was pristine, the welcome pack was delicious and a lovely personal touch with home-baked goodies and it was perfectly located within a stones throw of shops, eateries, a park and of course the dunes and beach. Wonderful, thanks Chris and Jenny!

Cosy, quiet house next to the beach

Lovely welcome by Chris at arrival. Thanks a lot, Chris! Everything you need was in the house. We had a late arrival, but to our delight Chris had prepared fresh baked bread and cookies among others amenities. :-) The house had enough space for the four of us and we enjoyed the week in Camber immensly.

Ideaal vakantiehuisje!

We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Chris & Jenny en kregen alle uitleg die we nodig hadden. Het huis was op alles voorzien (bedankt voor het welkomspakket!) en voor de kinderen was het ook fantastisch om alles te ontdekken (Lego, Thomas de trein-set, buitenspeelgoed, strandspeeltjes, dvd's,...). Alle kamers zijn smaakvol en gezellig ingericht. In de keuken is alles aanwezig wat we nodig hadden. Een goeie uitvalsbasis om de regio te ontdekken én ideaal gelegen om na een daguitstap nog af te koelen in de zee of een zandkasteel te maken in de prachtige duinen. We hadden een supervakantie! :)

Sommerurlaub im Juli 2019 in Camber

Uns hat der Urlaub in diesem Ferienhaus gut gefallen. Wir wurden herzlich von den Vermietern empfangen und haben uns in der Unterkunft gleich wohl gefühlt. Das Ferienhaus ist genauso wie beschrieben und damit für Familien besonders geeignet. Den sehr schönen Strand erreicht man über eine hohe Düne, von der man einen tollen Blick über den Strand und den Ort hat.

A lovely, beautifully decorated house, minutes from the beach

We spent a long weekend at Looney Dunes with friends and had a wonderful, relaxing time. Chris met us on arrival and showed us where everything was. The house is immaculate, clean and has everything you could want, including a well stocked honesty larder, fully equipped kitchen, fab sound system and hundreds of books to while away a lazy afternoon. The dog basket and bowl were much appreciated by our dog who loved tearing around the secure back garden. We all would whole-heartedly recommend Looney Dunes and hope to return soon. Many thanks Chris for sharing a fantastic home, and thanks to your son for baking such a wonderful surprise birthday cake for my husband!

Sehr freundlich - grossartiger Urlaub mit Hund an Englands Südküste.

Chris hat uns sehr herzlich begrüsst und sogar das Haus in eine weihnachtliche Stimmung versetzt (Weihnachtsbaum). Das Haus ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und super gelegen. Besonders für unseren Hund war der Urlaub am Strand (im Winter kann der ganze Strand von Hunden besucht werden) einfach das Beste. Der Garten und der Wintergarten sind perfekt für uns gewesen (z.b. auch die Möglichkeit unseren Hund draußen abzuspülen). Bis auf die Silvesternacht war es auch angenehm ruhig. Das Haus hat alles was man braucht und der Supermarkt in Rye lässt keine Wünsche offen. Die Möglichkeiten in der Nähe spazieren zu gehen und Südengland zu entdecken sind fast grenzenlos. Die Leute, die man in den Pubs trifft sind sehr freundlich und man kommt schnell ins Gespräch (The Owl). Einzig das Restaurant The Gallivant kann ich für den Preis nicht wirklich empfehlen. Dafür rate ich aber zu einem Besuch auf der Salts Farm auf dem Weg nach Rye. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Urlaub und wir würden gern einmal wiederkommen.

Looney Dunes - lovely house with all needs catered for!

When we arrived we met Chris who showed us around the property. My grandsons were particularly impressed there was an X Box which of course they played during our stay. They also loved the selection of dvds, and the older ones of us found ourselves reminiscing with some of the LP's! Then, if that wasn't enough, there were the many books to go through, that's if we had the time! Went to the beach, boys loved the beach board, badminton set and boules, all of which kept them busy. Luna felt very at home in the dog bed provided and settled in almost immediately. Lovely touches were the home made jam and chocolate cookies which made us feel at home. Our every need was catered for down to the beach towels, and nothing was too much trouble. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely holiday property and hope to come back ourselves in the not too distant future! Thanks again Chris - we all had a lovely relaxing break, the boys didn't want to leave! Jenny, Brian & family

Super house in a peacefult yet convenient location.

The house is very close to the sand dunes and beach in Camber. We appreciated the peaceful yet convenient location. On arrival we were greeted by Chris who showed us around the house and pointed out where everything was situated in the home. Chris has been extremely friendly and helpful before, during and after our stay at Looney Dunes, nothing is too much trouble. I have to add that Chris’s attentiveness is NOT in any way intrusive. The house is beautifully furnished and is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. My grandson even borrowed a bucket and spade, bats and ball and a sand scooter for the beach. We also enjoyed playing pool and swingball in the garden. When I say this house has every requirement for a brilliant holiday I really mean everything. There was a fabulous welcome pack of groceries, including homemade bread, jam and cookies, which were delicious and much more. The honesty cupboard is a fab idea as you have no need to worry if you forget anything. All ages are certainly very well catered for, from small children to oldies, like ourselves. You can even bring along your four legged friend if you so wish. (with owner’s approval). If you like a beach holiday close to amenities then I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Looney Dunes, Camber. It is close to Rye, less than 10 minutes by car. It is also quite easy to visit other places in the South East, we particularly enjoyed visiting Canterbury. We had a super two week holiday and would love to return again in the future. From the four of us, thank you Chris for everything.

Perfect holiday home for big familys, Perfektes Ferienhaus für große Familien

We (2 grown ups and four children aged 11,10,7, and 5) spent two wonderful weeks in Camber.The beach is only minutes away and perfect for young children because of the low water level of the sea. The house is extremly well kept, spacious, with loads of toys inside and out, and everything you might need in the kitchen etc. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. Wir (2 Erwachsene, 4 Kinder im Alter von 11,10,7 und5) haben zwei wunderschöne Wochen in Camber verbracht. Der Strand ist nur wenige Minuten vom Haus entfernt und gerade auch für kleinere Kinder perfekt, da der Wasserstand auch bei Flut niedrig ist. Man kann herrlich planschen. Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt, drinnen und draußen gibt es eine Menge Spielzeug, und auch sonst hat das Haus alles, was man braucht. Die Besitzer sind sehr gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit.

Sehr gemütliches Haus, sehr gastfreundlicher Vermieter

Wir durften 1 Woche im perfekt ausgestatteten Ferienhaus von Chris und Jenny verbringen. Chris empfing uns fröhlich und freundlich, so daß dies das sofortige Wohlfühlen noch leichter machte. Das Haus ist sauber, hell und lädt zum Verweilen im freundlichen Wintergarten, auf der schönen Terrasse und im Wohnzimmer ein, welches mit vielen Büchern, Spielen, Filmen und sogar Schallplatten ausgestattet ist. Nahe gelegen ist "Owl", ein netter Pub, in dem man auch lecker Essen kann. Unbedingt zu empfehlen ist "Khanˋz", wenn man indisches Essen mag. Im Farmshop gibt es leckere regionale Produkte. Der Strand ist schnell zu erreichen, auch die Hundestrände. Es ist gut gelegen, um schöne Tagesausflüge nach Hastings, Rye, Bodiam Castle usw. zu unternhehmen. Wir (4-köpfige Familie und 2 Hunde) fühlten uns willkommen und haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt.
