Cosy 2 bedroom cottage in pretty Godstone Village on the North Downs in Surrey

I suspect this is a result of the fact that I said I wouldn't rent to them again. My cleaner sent me a long list of issues, food stains all over every bed, carpet and the cushions in sitting room, toenail clippings, false nails and eyelashes left everywhere, upstairs toilet absolutely filthy, the toilet brush had to be thrown away it was so bad. Dirty dishes left in the dishwasher, food all over microwave and oven door, damage to one bathroom tap, windows left open. Used every towel in the house (and there are many)! For information the bed does not have poking springs, there is a large table with 4 chairs and an umbrella in the garden, and there is no dog! I would not rent my house to these people again, they have no respect for other peoples property.

I am very sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay at our cosy little cottage, we work very hard to ensure our guests have a pleasant stay. Like all terraced houses we do have a path that runs across the back of the houses so people can access their back doors, you are correct you have to cross this path to access our private garden. I agree, the grass was long and our gardener was due to come at the weekend to cut it and sweep the patio, he brought the lawnmower on Sunday but unfortunately had a sudden family emergency and was unable to cut the grass and tidy until the Monday. The garden was clean and tidy by Monday afternoon. I apologise that you felt the garden furniture was unusable, after inspection we established that 2 of the four chairs had broken slats in them, unfortunately I was not aware of this on your arrival. There are in fact spare chairs for guests stored in the boiler cupboard which could have been used, this is detailed in the guest information pack. As soon as I was aware of the broken chairs I ordered a new set of 6 chairs, a table and umbrella on line, this was delivered to my daughters house on the Wednesday which is the earliest date I could get a delivery, and she kindly brought them to the house and erected them. I do feel your 1 star rating is extremely unfair given that you had no complaints about the house which is spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable and you no doubt saw the many complimentary reviews in our guest book. The garden seems to be the only area that you were unhappy with, and we made every effort to rectify the problems as soon as we could.
