Leave your troubles behind and venture into our relaxing, cozy home located just 2.8 miles from Main Street. Downtown area is truly unique with multiple shopping experiences and numerous casual and fine dining establishments. This is not anywhere, USA. Typical "chain" restaurants cannot be found in this fine township. All of the above with easy access off of Buck Creek Road and HIghway 64. Enjoy the Highlands/ Cashiers/ Franklin area from a central location. Located adjacent to VRBO# 69474 and 240972 in a six house community for parties larger than we can accommodate for weddings or other family gatherings.

Completely renovated/ redesigned with comfort and serenity in mind. Includes all modern conveniences with individual climate controlled bedrooms and living space, gourmet kitchen with quartz countertops, dishwasher, washer/ dryer, Jacuzzi tub in master suite, wood burning fireplace, high speed internet, gas grill, charcoal grill (Weber), etc. Front deck and upper level back porch area for entertaining.

A beautiful well appointed property. Clean and well appointed. Host was terrific and well organized. Host information was very useful. We loved everything about it and the location was perfect. I hope we can stay there again one day. Thank you for a great VRBO experience.

Everything needed for a family! Fantastic kitchen and comfortable home. You can tell that this is someone's home away from home, and not just some rental property. We would gladly stay here again!

Cozy

First, the hosts are really great people and excellent communicators. The house was clean and matched the pictures and description accurately. Highlands is very expensive so this was a pleasant surprise that you could find something affordable. It’s great to use the fireplace and to have a large kitchen to cook in. It was a quick drive to cashiers and downtown Highlands. It’s not very fancy or in walking distance to anything to note of (there is a hidden creek to explore) but it’s a gem of a place for what you pay for.. Thabks for a cozy stay!

Best value in Highlands

We had a wonderful stay at this property and the owners were great to work with. I highly recommended this rental for family trips to the mountains.

Very Pleased

I am so thrilled that we were able to stay in this lovely cabin. I am very picky when it comes to cleanliness and the cabin was literally spotless when we arrived. I was very impressed and did not have to clean myself. The kitchen was impeccable. It has everything you need to make a meal and then some. Everything was so tidy and organized. The cabin is in a perfect location between Highlands and Cashiers. Very easy to go to both places. I was very happy and so was my family to stay in this cabin and look forward to future visits. A+ in my book. Thank you again for a wonderful time.

More than advertised

Large home in quiet neighborhood with rear balcony in the woods, jet pool bathrub, fireplace, and huge kitchen with every appluance you might need. Great communication with the owbers. Separate thermostats for the rooms. 5 minute drive from downtown.

Nice long weekend home base

We needed a convenient-to-Highlands location for a long weekend of looking around Highlands. As other commenters have said, the kitchen is very well equipped, there is room by the house for exactly one car, the other houses on High Cotton are essentially adjacent, but all were quiet. The TV set up in the bedrooms and living area had both cable and streaming, for those that use streaming. The upstairs deck in the back was a very pleasant place for quiet sitting surrounded by woods. We are normally based in Sky Valley for our visits to the area, but if we need to be close to Highlands, we would choose High Cotton again.

Title

The property is very nice. The dining room HVAC unit is noisy and we did not run it much. The house was musty but I think that is endemic to the location. I noticed upon arriving back home that my clothes smelled of smoke from the fireplace even though we did not burn any wood. Price to value ratio seems about right.

Will certainly suggest others stay here!! We plan to rent again! Best house we’ve ever stayed in.

We loved every minute in this beautiful home. The pull out couch upstairs needs a better mattress. You could feel every support under the thin mattress. Kitchen was AWESOME!!!

Great House and Location

Only good things to say about this house. Perfect location near Highlands Main St. Roomy living area and kitchen. Great walking area for dogs. Ken and Katie were very responsive!

It was alright, but......

The fireplace was not working right and would not burn wood (later found many disguarded partially burned logs in wood pile). Upstairs tub could not be fully filled with warm water, had to fill in increments. Other than that all was OK.

High Cotton Cottage

We enjoyed our stay in Highlands. The location of the property is convenient and close to restaurants and shopping. Check in and check out was easy. We had everything we needed. Communication with the owners was excellent. Our only disappointment was the main floor bedroom had a double bed, not the queen size as listed.

A great place to stay

This was a great place to stay. We stayed 7 days, arriving on a Sunday and leaving the following Sunday. I don’t have any complaints with the cabin itself or the lovely owners! Ken and Katie responded to any questions we had. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the spacious and well stocked kitchen. The fireplace was nice to have as well. Highlands is an expensive place, especially the local grocery stores, so next time I will plan to arrive earlier so I can stop in Cashiers or another out of town grocery store on the way end or just plan to bring with me the food items I want to have and cook during my stay so I can reserve money for activities and dining out because it is a bit more pricier than our home city Virginia Beach. I had a family member suggest Mountain Fresh grocery on Main Street. It was unique but expensive so we just got a pizza and fettuccini Alfredo pasta dish to share our second night there (at the connected pizza place next store to it). I went to Bryson’s for some groceries which was cheaper than Mountain Fresh but still a bit more expensive because of its location.. Our last night we went to Ugly Dog restaurant because a local suggested it as being one of the more reasonable places to eat in downtown Highlands. It was great. We cooked at the house the remainder of the time. Regarding activities, the local outdoor ice skating would have been nice to do, but you need to open an account on their website to reserve a spot. There are things to do but it’s best if you come with a plan and idea of what you want to see and do. The time goes by fast. Some places (skating, zip lining, etc) you need time to reserve your time slots so keep that in mind if you bring children. My only constructive or informative thing to add, which isn’t negative if you enjoy being in close quarters with other vacationers is that it is located on a street with other cabins in very close proximity. We never had any issues with them but I personally prefer to look out my window and see nothing but nature because I live in a city. That is a personal preference though. The parking is tight so car pooling with other guests staying with you might be easier. All in all we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed a little hiking, the scenic views (falls) and cozy time at the cabin with my family playing games, cooking and eating and watching some movies together.

Mountain weekend

Pleasantly surprised at how up to date the cottage is. I just cannot thank the owners enough for accepting pets, my 12 yr old Schnauzer was able to be with us and we did not have to pay a non refundable deposit. Just so considerate and home was full of amenities, such real thoughtful people.

Great location and very clean!

This house is perfectly located right outside of highlands in a quiet neighborhood. The place was very clean and comfortable. It had a cozy fireplace and fully stocked kitchen.

Comfy cabin in the woods

Amazing, spacious, and comfortable cabin in the woods a few miles from downtown Highlands. Very quiet and relaxing while being close to the action. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

We were both born in Tampa, FL and lived there all of our lives. We went to the mountains in NC and fell in love with the waterfalls, change of climate, and the overall nice way of life. This is simply a wonderful place to vacation and relax.
