We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the review, we take our reviews very seriously. You'll find very few vacation rentals with air-conditioning. The house is located next to the ocean which gives us very nice cooling tradewinds that help keep the house cool and also there is ceiling fans in all the rooms. We have dishes and pots and pans for a setting of eight and it's not advisable to keep open condiments in the refrigerator. We do have assortment of package tea and coffee and other spices located in the cabinet. It is true that we are off the beaten path but also we are closer to all the sites on this side of the island, our pricing reflects that. Mahalo for staying with us.

I normally do not respond to this kind of review. It is listed on my website that I do not have air-conditioning. I feel this party is being a little vindictive because they booked my house for four people, and it was obvious he had unregistered guests. They had broken into a locked garage and removed a barbecue pit that wasn’t for their use. when I confronted them about the unregistered guest, they of course denied it, but I have it all on security cameras that are located outside. I feel the only reason I received a negative review is because they were called out on their bad behavior.

I am glad you had a good time. We always try to make our guest comfortable and appreciate any suggestions that will help our future guess. Sorry about not having a air-conditioner, very expensive to run a air-conditioner 24 /7. Being situated right across the street from the ocean we normally get tradewinds most of the time that help keep things cool.

If you read this review please read all of the other reviews before you make a decision on my vacation rentals. I have been in business for five years and I have never received such a negative review as this. Yet it doesn’t surprise me. These two elderly ladies were complaining before they even put the key in the door. If they were expecting a five-star resort type experience, they would be disappointed. This is a residential neighborhood in a very tropical area. If you come to Hawaii you have to expect to have bugs and tropical humidity. I feel I must respond and defend some of these issues. At this time we are doing some major renovating on the outside of the house. We have replaced fencing and are in the process of removing large coconut trees which have been poisoned and are waiting to be cut down. As for the kitchen we do not supply any previously used or perishable items, like mayonnaise and ketchup. We do have a cupboard full of seasonings, etc., like salt, pepper, coffee and tea. We state in the advertisement what we supply. Utensils are at a minimum for this is a vacation rental and not a gourmet kitchen. The furniture is made of rattan and admittedly this is not the most comfortable but the most durable for vacation rentals and for living in the tropics. The pictures you see of my vacation rental have not been doctored in any way. The showers in both bathrooms are large double showers that have bypass shower doors, they are not defective nor installed backwards and are working fine. I think these two ladies were confused on how to use bypass shower doors. The front room has a large bay view window with venting louver windows below and a large french double door to help highlight our ocean view. The Wi-Fi internet is supplied by a satellite and has limited data service which I stipulate in our advertisement. This is the only option available in the area at this time. We have one TV in the front room and we do not supply TVs in every room, again this is a vacation rental and not a five-star resort. I do admit, it was very hot, 90° which is very unusual for Hawaii, considering the humidity factor. This probably contributed to the elderly ladies discomfort. You will find air conditioning in hotels but not in residential homes, especially on the Windward side where we have trade winds most of the time. When they did call I responded by bringing them extra fans right away. As for bugs all I can say is this is the tropics and you have to expect lots of bugs, again this is not a sterile five-star resort. We do spray periodically but I have to be very careful not to spray if we are expecting guests within the next few days. And lastly, I have all-natural slate on the front and back decks. Slate is not cheap and is commonly used outdoors. Unfortunately, the slate does get damaged by people dragging chairs and tables repeatedly over tiles. I’m sorry to hear that my guest had a bad time but we try to maintain a nice and comfortable vacation rental. Again I will advise all my future guests if you are looking for a five-star Waikiki resort type experience you will be disappointed… but if you are looking to experience what old Hawaii is then please come and visit us. You will experience volcanoes, tropical rainforests and all of the greenery this side of the Big Island has to offer!
