Osage Schoolhouse: Renovated, Sleeps 23, Spacious and Comfortable

Fully renovated in 2015, this former school house is the perfect gathering place for large groups of friends, family, or coworkers. It has lots of table space for games, crafts, viewing trail maps, and planning your next business venture. Enjoy the big screen TV and Wi-Fi or take advantage of the many outdoor recreation options in the area. Osage Schoolhouse has plenty of space to eat, sleep, and play!

BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS...... 5 bedrooms and 2 bunk rooms, 16 beds sleep 23, plus room for portable child beds, with 3 full baths and 2 half baths. Linens and towels are provided as well as a washer and drier.

DINING & KITCHEN...... The dining area seats 32 at four large tables and a bar height counter. Additional seating for 8 in adjoining room. The kitchen is designed for large groups and includes two refrigerators, two ovens, a five-burner stove, with tons of pans/dishes and space to work. There is a third refrigerator on the lower level and a propane grill on the deck, with 2 picnic tables outside.

LIVING ROOMS..... Huge main floor living room has comfortable seating, large wall TV, DVD, board games, desk, computer, printer, and more. The lower level has a second living area.

Wi-Fi and plenty outlets to charge your devices.

Gas, snacks, liquor, dinning, auto and ATV/snowmobile repair, post office, church, boat landing, beach, and picnic shelter are all available right in Osage with groceries and everything else available in Park Rapid (10 miles) and Detroit Lakes (35 miles).

Snowmobile/ATV trails and the Lake Country Scenic Byway connect to the parking lot which is large enough for 12 vehicles plus trailers.

This is 4th stay at this property. Plenty of space for everything, sleeping, eating, and hanging out. Great kitchen for cooking and plenty of fridge storage for large groups. Another great stay in Osage.

Stayed there as a base while dealing with family stuff. Was nice to come home at the end of the day and unwind. We could gather in the large comfortable living room, play games in the dining room and each had our own space downstairs. We loved staying there and working on a fun family weekend next year.

Family Gathering

This place is great for large family gatherings with different age groups. So many choices for activities. Plenty of sleeping spaces and a very large eating area.

Amazing Stay!

This is a beautiful home with so much character! Our family enjoyed it so much. There was plenty of space to spread out, tons of towels and extra blankets. Very close to nice parks and the Osage Beach. We would recommend this unique, beautiful home to families/big groups!

Wonderful place for a large family gathering. Plenty of sleeping space, bathrooms and eating area. This place works very well for a large family and is walking distance to the beach. Great memories!!!

Great place for a large family getaway. Plenty of space and many things to do to keep everyone occupied. The place was very clean, comfortable and well stocked. Love all the historical decor.

Large rooms allowed for different activities at the same time. Large kitchen and counter spaced helped with storage and easy preparation of meals. We had a group of 22 any there was plenty of room for all.

Wonderful Family Time

Our multiple stays here have always been awesome. There is plenty of sleeping spaces for a large group and the kitchen/eating area is very large. There is plenty to do for all age groups. We will be back.

Amazing large family rental

From prior to checking in through the duration of our stay out expectations were far exceeded! The house was large enough for our family vacation of 20 and the location was perfect. A playground and beach within walking distance and plenty of indoor activities for the rainy times! We will definitely be back!

Excellent gathering space for large group

Unique place with sleeping arrangements for 23. Huge kitchen area well stocked. Lots of room for people to gather both upstairs and downstairs. Straight lake, which is nearby was also very nice as we brought a boat. Members of our group said they’d be willing to come here again we gathered as a large family get together.

Had a great time!

We loved the stay! The property was amazing and we would absolutely stay again! The only item to update is check out time, online it says 1 pm but at the location all over the house it says 11am, so just a note to update that. Beautiful place, lake just down the street, dishes and cooking items there for us to use, comfy beds! Thank you!!

Sibling ATV trip

Great place to stay. ATV trails left from the parking lot. Gas and food across the street. Place was amazing. Everything you would need and more. Tv satellite was not working but wasn’t much time for that anyways. Would recommend to everyone to stay here.

Family Get Together

This place is amazing. Plenty of space to host a large group like we had. The set up is amazing and all the space, bedrooms, living room up and downstairs. Many bathrooms so no problems there and such a great location . Can walk to: OBT, Beyer’s Market and Byer’s Liqour Store. Lynda is wonderful. She met me there, did a walk through of the house and was also quick to repaind to the question I had. Already working on a family get together next year.

WW 2024

Our group of friends have had an annual women's weekend starting in 1987. We have had 12-30 ladies join us over the years. This year we decided to stay at Osage and everything was perfect with everything we may need within walking distance. The house had towels, a Blackstone, crockpots, cooking utensils, appliances, soap, and bathroom toiletries. It met all our needs and beyond!!

Very clean, well maintained, well equipped home.

We had our four children, their spouses and several of our grandkids together for a family reunion. It was wonderful to all be together in a very roomy, comfortable house. We would love to go back and do it again someday, as we all decided we had discovered a "gold mine". The house manager was very helpful and wonderful to work with, thank you Lynda. Thank you to the owner old this old schoolhouse, what a great place!

Perfect Family Reunion Site

The old school house was the perfect spot for our family reunion. The place was so well thought out with space for everyone and every activity. Everything we could have needed was available at the house. Even though the house is by the highway, it was completely quiet inside and peaceful in the back yard. We loved the location because we could get ice across the street and a couple items we forgot next door at the grocery store. The beach was a huge hit with the younger kids along with the park, both a block or two away. This is by far our favorite place to spend our family reunion and we will definitely be back!

Awesome Experience!

The host was amazing! She met us at the property and walked us through answering any questions we had. The house was exactly as described and extremely clean. We had 20 people staying at the house for my sons wedding. There was lots of room for everyone! They also had lots of extras like games and toys for the kids. They even had a pantry with staples just in case we needed something when we were cooking. Check out process was easy. I would definitely recommend this property!!

A Perfect Week in MN Lake Country

Our 2nd time at the Osage Schoolhouse for a family event was terrific. Four families from different directions arrived to a well-appointed and beautifully decorated place for 14 of us to enjoy each other's company, swim in Straight Lake, cook, play games, visit Itasca State Park, and engage in highly competitive mini golf at nearby Park Rapids. Lynda was great getting us checked in, everything was clean, orderly, and well stocked, from the ice cubes to the spice cupboard. The kitchen is spacious, well equipped, and there is a Blackstone Griddle available on the deck for outdoor cooking. The kids and teenagers had a fun time playing lawn games in the yard. I had a couple ZOOM business meetings during our stay, and the WIFI worked great, even with many of us on it at times. The grocery and liquor stores less than a rock throw away as well as the OBT are convenient for an impulse need or something forgotten at home. We would definitely recommend and reuse this property.

Wonderful place for a family to gather!

4 families (14 people) stayed comfortably for a long weekend! We were so pleased with the accommodations that we are already planning our next trip to Osage! We were looking for a place that would accommodate little kids (ages 3-6), teenagers, married couples and Gma/Gpa - the Osage School house had everything we needed. Kitchen is stocked with everything a foodie would need (incl. a grill, nice blender, Kitchenaid mixer, knives, pots, pans, etc). We moved the tables together and ate TOGETHER as a group of 14 - what a treat! Living room had games, puzzles and there were 3 places to watch TV in the building (or hook up a gaming system). Short, easy walk to a beautiful, sandy beach; floating dock to jump from, tree rope for swinging and a gradual drop off just perfect for little kids. Plenty of linens, extra towels (even beach towels!) at the Osage Schoolhouse for guests to use. Children enjoyed the 'Noah's Ark' and nearby playground. Bunk beds are in alcoves, not rooms, so not ideal for the little kids - but worked great for teenagers. Plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms to allow for everyone to spread out - the big upper level space allowed for games, conversation, and cooking to go on upstairs while the children napped downstairs uninterrupted. Nice to have laundry onsite! Tackle shop across the street has a small burger/fries/pizza kitchen; food was delicious. Short drive into Park Rapids for grocery store, Walgreens or WalMart. Check in/Check out was fast and easy.
