"Very Colorado" log Guest House, nearby main home of the R-Bar-D Ranch. Approx. 2,000 sq. ft. modern log home built early '90s. Master bedroom upstairs with walk-out balcony and views to South San Juan Mountains. En suite full bath off master. Pull-down old-western Murphy bed in downstairs great room. Fully equipped kitchen, opening to spacious rear deck. High-speed DSL; professional-quality wireless network. TV (Dish). Decorated with beautiful western and Native American prints; many interesting antiques. House is cool in summer and warm in winter. Security gate with remote control. Paved drive to front door; ample parking. Surrounding meadow typically filled with varied bird life, deer, elk, coyote and other furry visitors. Year 'round, mule deer are at your front porch. Elk herd in winter. Hike in our gently West-sloping pasture/meadow, or take many hikes in surrounding area. Our area, in July 2020, was designated as a "Dark Sky" region, joining other Dark Sky locations such as Arches National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. An incredible location for star-gazing! Our Guest House is County-licensed by Ouray County, Colorado

Randal and Debbie were so hospitable, they knew we were arriving late and set the heat and lamps on so that it was easy to navigate and warm.They were also so kind, and communication was great and easy. Thankful to have experienced this great cabin, it was the get away we needed and so close to all the things to explore. We saw a lot of wildlife on the property/near by which was great. The cabin was so inviting and cozy. Also - the view from the main bedroom each morning was special and appreciated!

Our "Epic Colorado Vacation" in which we traveled from the Charlotte, NC area to several pre-selected Colorado destinations, included our final stop in Ridgway, CO at the beautiful R-BAR-D Ranch. Randal and Debbie as our Vrbo hosts were absolutely fantastic in accommodating and welcoming us. The communication prior to our arrival was outstanding and included detailed references to nearby attractions, eateries, and fun facts. The information also included detailed information on the workings of the cabin where we would stay--this was most appreciated as upon our arrival we felt "at home" and familiar with an otherwise unfamiliar residence. The cabin itself is wonderful--unique and extremely comfortable; full of interesting and local decor. The views of the San Juan mountains are spectacular and truly breathtaking for the uninitiated. We loved the daily Mule deer grazing on the property. Cleanliness was spotless and the amenities were exactly as pictured and described--you are setup with everything to be at home immediately--just add your own food. Randal was very attentive during our stay ensuring we had everything we needed and that all was to our complete satisfaction. Randal and Debbie indicate in their literature that they treat their guests like family and this is absolutely true! If there could be the model Vrbo and hosts--this is it. If you are considering a trip to the SW Colorado region, do not hesitate to book yourself in to the R-BAR-D Ranch, you will not be sorry.

This property and the host, Randal, was perfect in every respect for my wife and me and our daughter and son-in-law. The property was better than advertised. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was great for our intended activities in the Ridgway/Ouray/Montrose/Black Canyon area. We especially enjoyed the many acres of quiet, secluded rural property with absolutely gorgeous fields of gamble oak, aspen, grasses, and shrubs, in full autumn color, with browsing deer and mountain views. Wow! Randal was outstanding. His communication from booking through departure was great and he excelled in making sure we had a great experience during our stay. Great value and highly recommended!

We loved our stay at R-Bar-D Ranch. The property is nothing short of incredible, with sweeping views of the San Juans that never get old. We brought our two dogs along, and they had the best time exploring the grounds and lounging in the sun on the back patio.The cabin itself is cozy, beautifully decorated, and fully stocked with everything you might need. The location is also ideal—just minutes from downtown Ridgway and a great base camp for exploring Ouray and Telluride.What really set this stay apart was the host, Randal. He is truly one of the best hosts we’ve ever encountered—warm, kind, and a wealth of local knowledge. His communication was impeccable, and it was clear how much he cares about ensuring his guests have the best possible experience. Randal was also incredibly accommodating when I mistakenly had the booking dates wrong and we showed up a day early, he graciously welcomed us since the cabin was available. Later in our trip, we had to check out a day early due to an emergency, and Randal was not only understanding but also followed up to make sure we were able to take care of everything back at home.We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend R-Bar-D Ranch to anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable getaway in the San Juans.

My dog Jasper and I spent a week at this rustic but upscale cozy guest house just on the outskirts of Ridgway. Communication with Randal, the owner, both before our trip and during our stay could not have been better. He was on top of everything from the start and was as hands-on as needed. He also gave us our privacy when we didn’t need him, which was also much appreciated. This is a gem of a place surrounded by tall Ponderosa pines and Aspens with occasional deer and elk making their appearance. Randal and Debbie were gracious to let us roam their expansive acreage and I was careful to keep Jasper on a leash most of the time when deer were around. The cottage itself is perfect, but the real attraction is the connection with Randal and Debbie, who made me feel welcome and safe. Randal has a lifetime of stories to share and you will not regret taking the time to listen. He is a true treasure. I did not meet his wife, Debbie, but her presence is felt everywhere. I hated to leave, thank you to both of them for a wonderful week.

Quiet, well appointed, and spacious home ideal for a working vacation. Gorgeous grounds and views. Dog loved it, too! Randal was warm and accommodating, and his updates on area road closures saved me hours of time and energy. Genuine, fine hospitality. I recommend staying here.

Stunning property, excellent stay!

R Bar D Ranch was stunning where we had an experience like no other! Beautiful scenery and quiet, serene surroundings. Saw deer just about everyday. The cabin was just as it was explained in the rental summary and then some. Enjoyed walking our dog around the property. Randal was very communicative and it was a pleasure getting to know. Enjoyed his company and learning about the history of his property. We highly recommend this property and can’t wait to visit again!

Hidden Gem with Amazing Views!

We were so excited to find this property - the R Bar D Ranch cabin is wonderful- spacious, well equipped & comfortable with a beautiful back deck to take in the stunning view of the San Juan mountains and Mt. Sneffels. The deer are regular visitors & we enjoyed seeing them daily. Randal is the most welcoming and attentive host! It was a perfect base camp for us to play golf, hike, and visit Ridgway, Ouray and Telluride. I can’t wait to return. Many thanks to our hosts!

Amazing

My husband and I stayed for a week for our anniversary. We had an amazing time. It was exactly as described in the listing.We could not have been happier with our stay. Property was very clean, warm and welcoming. Beds were comfortable, and kitchen well stocked. Randall was great at checking in, and always available if needed. There was so much to do there. We felled so welcomed. We will definitely be back.

Perfect House and Location

We loved every minute of our visit to the Ranch Guest House! The house is charming, well furnished and comfortable! The location was perfect for hiking, fishing and exploring the towns of Ridgeway, Ouray and Telluride. Wonderful, relaxing, quiet and beautiful!

We loved everything about this place. The beautiful setting, seeing the stars we can’t see in the city, the nicely decorated cabin which is very well maintained and comfortable. The views around the cabin were gorgeous - mountains in the distance and open fields. There was plenty of space for us - a real treat. The location was perfect for going to Ouray, Telluride, Montrose, and of course into Ridgway. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable - I appreciated having two pillow choices, one thicker, one thinner. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need for cooking, coffee, etc. Comfortable seating around the table, which is where we spent most of our time. The host, Randal, was very thoughtful and helpful for anything we needed and had great advice and ideas for places to go see - really appreciated his ideas! We will definitely plan to stay here again someday.

Handsome guest house, stunning scenery!

This guest house, surrounded by some of Colorado’s best scenery, was itself beautiful, spacious, well appointed, and extremely comfortable. The host, Randal, has superbly thought out the needs of guests, and is quickly responsive to any questions. And if you would like suggestions on what to see or do in this gorgeous area, he has impeccable recommendations that will generate fond memories.

Fish Colorado; Mountain Relaxing

Awesome basecamp in Ridgway

If you're looking for a quiet place to explore the San Juans, this is an incredible option. Perfectly appointed cabin on a ranch with tons of space. About a 10-minute drive down to Ridgway. The host, Randal, is super welcoming and available to answer any questions. Really a great place to stay in SW Colorado.

Wow! What a Great Week!

I can’t say enough good things about this property. My wife and I had such a wonderful stay. First off, the property was just as advertised and was immaculately clean and ready for us upon arrival. The owner/property manager had coordinated everything with us in advance, so everything went very smoothly. The cabin is well-located just a short (~10 minute drive) outside of Ridgway. Deer roam the property and can be seen right off the back deck and through the windows, which is a special treat for nature lovers. There is great birding opportunities on the property as well. Just a short walk from the property are some great, well-maintained hiking trails, including a trail that runs along the top of the escarpment on the southern end of Log Hill Mesa and overlooks the town of Ridgway and the valley all the way south to Quray - a spectacular view. The towering San Juan mountain range dominates the view off the back deck of the cabin. This is really a special place. My wife and I used the cabin as a base of operations and planned daily trips from there to Telluride (about an hour away), Quray about (30 minutes away), and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Nat’l Park (about 45 minutes away). We also had a great day on a guided fly fishing excursion using RIGS (a fly fishing guide service in Ridgway). The cabin is a great location to sample the best of the area in every direction. The cabin is spacious, comfortable and quiet. It is also well-equipped; kitchen and all!

Amazing Summer Retreat

Wonderful property that takes you back in time but with modern amenities and great cell/internet service. Majestic views of multiple 14ers off the deck. If you are looking for a clean, quiet, and peaceful place with cool clean air, this is the place for you. Randal is a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. We look forward to coming back soon!

Exceptional Stay - Can't Wait to Return!

I recently had the pleasure of staying in this house for my vacation, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. Randal is incredibly accommodating and responsive, making the entire stay seamless and enjoyable. The house was spacious, clean, well-appointed, and provided all the comforts of home. The location was perfect, offering easy commute to Telluride and Ouray, while maintaining a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Wow!!!!!

What a wonderful place. The cabin was charming. The view of the San Juan mountains and the sunsets were spectacular. It was such a restful place and so quiet. We needed a recharge and it fit the bill. Randal was so delightful - great communicator, very knowledgeable about the area, and such a nice person. We enjoyed our conversations with him. We hope to come back.

Gorgeous Property and Wonderful Host

We highly recommend this beautiful property. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and will likely be back. The house is a great Colorado mountain retreat and the location could not be better. The views from the property are simply stunning; Ouray, Telluride and Silverton are a short ride away so the scenery is just gorgeous. The host, Randal, was there to greet us and show us how everything worked, he was always available for questions. We cannot thank him enough for his hospitality. We have been to the area many times, but this was definitely our best stay.

Beautiful Ridgway Cabin

My mom and I made a somewhat impromptu trip to Ridgway to visit some sights in the area. It was a short trip but I was lucky enough to land on this gem of a property. Randal is a wonderful host and made sure everything was just right in our place and that we had plenty of information regarding local restaurants, places to visit, and even made sure we knew we could roam the expansive property as much as we wanted. We had a wonderful stay and couldn't have wished for a better place to land after a long drive from Denver and exploring the area during our stay. I highly recommend!

Western Slope Paradise

Nestled in the Log Hill community, lies the picturesque R-Bar-D Ranch, with breathtaking views of Mt. Sneffels and the San Juan Mountain range. The guest cabin encompasses the true feeling of luxury mountain living with exceptional, warm hospitality. Waking up to the stunning mountain range, the smell of pine and deer meandering nearby creates the ultimate log cabin experience in the heart of Colorado. Amazing house

Located about 10 minutes outside of Ridgway, the house is beautiful and has everything you need. Great location for day trips to Telluride, Ouray/Silverton and the Black Canyon. Loved the back deck and the outdoor seating. The owners were wonderful, helpful and responsive. 100% recommend and would definitely stay here again!
