We stayed in Whispering Spirits” an absolutely enchanting haybale cottage for three nights at the end of August. The garden and surroundings are beautiful and it was an absolute delight to see the pademelons in the garden Our stay there was at the very beginning of our mini break in Tasmania and we could not have picked a more perfect spot in which to begin to relax and unwind. When owner Heidi showed us around the cottage we were quite amazed and absolutely delighted to see that the fridge was stocked with farm eggs, bacon, butter, milk add a loaf of real home-made bread. The whole visit was a complete delight and we really didn’t want to leave when our three days was over.Thank you, Heidi.

Absolutely Fabulous!

We absolutely loved our stay at this amazing cottage. Check in was quick and easy and everything was beautifully presented both inside and out. The cottage is private and peaceful. We were close to many places to explore. The fireplace was lovely too. We highly recommend staying here and will keep it in mind next time we travel to beautiful Tasmania.

Lovely remote spot, great fireplace, a cosy little cottage with the basic amenities for your stay. It's a little hard to find if you're driving at night, and there is very limited mobile reception, but the Wi-Fi is decent. Not sure how often the guests stay, so perhaps some of the sheets and linens could be aired out a bit longer before guest arrive to remove any mustiness? The bedrooms can be quite cold in winter, but if you get the fire roaring, they will heat up a little after a few hours. Beds have electric blankets, which helps. The host provides quite a generous amount of food for your first morning's breakfast, and they had the fire going before we arrived, which was very nice. Overall, good value for money, would consider staying again.

Hi Sue, thanks for your review. The bedrooms can be quite cold at this moist and cold nights at the moment. We change the bedding after each guests, but maybe through the cold nights the feeling of the bedding was what you was feeling. We always try our best and glad you liked it. Night time is always dark here in the country and mobile reception is limited but Wi-Fi people are very happy with. Thanks for staying if you like to come again, please try another time of the year. Thank you Sue again for staying.

Ideal retreat. Wonderful and considerate hosts who had lit the fire for us and stocked the fridge with farm fresh eggs, some bacon, cheese, butter, milk along with a loaf of home-made bread!Beautiful gardens with lots of birds and little critters. The cold, wet windy days were a pleasure as we stoked the fire, played card games, read and snoozed. So relaxing.

This place is perfect for a family holiday in Tassie!

We all absolutely loved our stay at Whispering Spirit. There was everything you could possibly want and more! The cottage was beautiful and just perfect for an idyllic Tassie holiday. We struggled to take the kids sight seeing around Tassie as they just wanted to stay on the farm and play. The highlight for the kids was to stop at Heidi’s shop for a late night ice-cream- even in Winter!

Tottaky cosy

The host showed us to our accommodation & told us about everything we needed to know. It was a bit chilly when we arrived, so she started the fure which was so cosy. Everything you need is there for a totally peaceful stay. The beds we're super comfy, the ambience great & a fantastic spa in the main bedroom ensuite. I'd highly recommend this cottage for a total restful stay. 👌

A true rural idyll

Nestled in the hlls above Franklin, the Strawbale Cottage at Whispering Spirits is a true gem. Completely private, the cottage is surrounded by a beautiful garden. Pademelons feed outside the window, splendid fairy wrens alight on trees and owls hoot gently nearby. A hop and a skip down the hill is Whispering Spirit's organic fresh produce room, where you can buy home-made organic produce, as well as berries and seasonal vegeables. Owners Heidi and Herbert are easily accessible and extremely helpful if you have any questions.

Beautiful Area, Loads of Nature and Animals!

Thoroughly enjoyed staying here.Pros:- Charming house- Pademelons everywhere! Lots of other wildlife around, definitely drive slowly at night!- Chickens! Goats! Ponies! Cows!- Farm produce stall - Spaetzal was very nice, Quark poppy-seed cheese cake was very tasty- Surrounds area was very peaceful, natural and beautiful.- Included wifi was good.- Firewood also very good, and fireplace well maintained and worked well.- Hot bath (albeit a bit fiddly to get the hotwater working correctly)- Electric blankets.- Friendly hosts- Breakfast provisions for the first day were much appreciated after a long journey.- Woolworths nearby.Cons:- Tap water not drinkable, should be on the listing.- House needed some airing out, and a bit more of a clean. - Didn't see any platypus on the property, but did see them in Geeveston.

Thank you for your nice comments and that you did like most of it. We always trying our best. Regarding the tap water, it is normal rain water from the tank. So people drink it all the time. But we do have to have this note on the wall because of council regulation, just for safety and liability, for that reason we have a water bottle in the fridge. So you could have drank it, and if not sure boiled it. The house can get very warm when the woodfire is on regarding airing. You was there 8 nights so it should have been alright. If there was anything not so clean as it should be, we would like to know, what is was, since we normally get very good reviews about that. It always good to let us know personnel, if there is any questions or problems.
