Duplex is located at end of residential street two minutes off of I40. Park in private drive, shared only with tenant on other side of duplex. Parking is ten foot from front door. Duplex has grass front and back yards, with backyard having a wood privacy fence. The enclosed backyard has a small covered patio with a gas fire pit, four outdoor chairs and accent lights to provide a great outdoor atmosphere that is completely private. The backyard also has a full size gas grill for your use. Inside the duplex the living room has a tv with several stations available and a DVD player with a moderate selection of movies available. A brick corner wood burning fireplace is the main setting for the living room. Firewood is provided for you at no extra cost. A full size Lazy Boy recliner, full size couch with two end tables provide comfortable seating. Kitchen area has a bar that open up to the living room, Kitchen has cook stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and garbage disposal. Cookware is plentiful and includes new modern pieces. A variety of glasses and dishes are available from small plastic juice glasses to elegant goblets. A variety of single serve condiments of sugar, salt and pepper, sweet n low, liquid creamer, ketchup and mustard are provided. You can choose between single serve to full pots of coffee, with kcups, filters and coffee provided. Bottled water is stocked. Enjoy your meals at our full-size wooden bar height table that offers a leaf option. A full size washer and dryer are located in nook in hallway. Detergent, bleach, softener and dryer sheets are provided. Front bathroom is accessible from hallway or from bedroom entrance and has a tub with shower. The bedroom that this bath opens to has a king size bed, chest of drawers and two night stands. A small walk in closet provides more than ample room to hang clothes or store luggage. An iron and small ironing board are stored in this closet for your use. This room has a ceiling fan. Across the hall is second bedroom with a private bath that has a modern travertine tile shower. The bedroom has a mirrored dresser, queen size bed with night stand and a upholstered chair. A nice size closet including shelf, with bifold doors provides the storage for second bedroom. French doors in second bedroom open to the backyard patio area.

Overall good, but a few drawbacks

Communication was stellar with the host! From check in through the evening. We had trouble with the wifi and it was just minutes until she was trying to get the problem fixed and then DID get it fixed through the cable company before we got back from dinner. That is no small feat! Every communication was quick and helpful. Drawbacks... the place could really use some TLC. The front door had some play in it while it was locked, the tub/shower combo really looked awful and the backyard was totally unkept. It served the purpose for our one night stay, but we probably would not stay again.

Perfect overnight stay for us & our large pup!

We were so glad to have found everything we needed for our overnight stay with our large pup! He enjoyed the chance to free-range in the private fenced-in back yard. The massage chair was a bonus after a long-day's drive. Everything was clean and the area was quiet & safe. Carolyn was great & responded quickly to our inquiries. We would definitely recommend to others with pets & will stay again if we are traveling through the area.

Perfect Stop Over

We spent two nights in this VRBO as we traveled across country to our winter home in AZ. Everything was wonderful. Our two dogs loved the backyard. We will be back for sure!

Great rest on the way to New Mexico

I had a 10 plus hour drive to our property in New Mexico. This place was a great way to rest at a halfway point. The little backyard was so welcoming for my little dachshund Gus. I will remember this place when I travel with my grandkids. Plenty of room with Walmart and restaurants nearby. The backyard was an oasis!

If you have sensitivities to fragrances, don't stay here.

We landed here for the night on a long trip. It was a cute place and was perfectly located off the freeway. Found a mexican restaurant that had great take out. I ended up having to sleep in my car because the amount of fragrances/fabreze in the house. I could simply not breathe. It is definitely my issue, but it was so strong, even my husband complained and he isn't sensitive like I am.

Wonderful Experience

We had a wonderful experience. A charming place to stay with a great fenced backyard for our dogs. Carolyn was a great host and she was extremely responsive to our communications. We used the BBQ on the patio to cook dinner and enjoyed the bench swing. The massage chair was an outstanding bonus after a long drive. The house had everything we needed. Would stay again if we are in the area.

Great stay for our group

Carolyn was great with communication from check in to check out. We traveled 2.5 hours from home for a baseball tournament and she was very accommodating for us. She even brought us a fresh canister of propane for our grilling needs. The place was as described and fully stocked with necessities. Would stay here again 5 star rating for sure!!! Good one night stay.

On a very long trip from NM to FL this was in the right mileage range for the first day. The property is clean and neat and nicely put together. The hostess has a great sense of humor (missing in much of the world today) and made things very comfortable. My only little ding is a personal issue. I am allergic to heavily scented household products and there were tons of them in use. In fact my clothing was saturated with the smells and I had to live with them the entire next day in the car. Again - that is a personal issue and if you don't have that problem you won't be bothered by it. Otherwise very good stay. Thank you.

Quiet Weekend in Elk City

My wife and I and a family friend were in the area for the weekend and stayed at this nice duplex for the weekend. The house was clean and neat and had just the right amount of furnishings to be super comfortable. My wife loved the massage chair. The extras in the pantry are always a nice touch that a VRBO owner doesnā€™t have to provide, so thank you. The owner was a joy to work with.

We were driving cross country and this was a perfect stop! The place is super clean and we had our dog with and really appreciated the fenced in yard. There were thoughtful touches everywhere. The location was very convenient and restaurants in close proximity to grab some takeout. We very much enjoyed our stay and recommend as a nice stop as a half way point between Kansas City and Albuquerque! Thank you for the wonderful accommodations!
