Sobre esta propriedade
Merging Waters - Native Stone, couples cabin in the Ouachita Mts-with STARLINK
Merging Waters is a gated one bedroom two bath cabin. The back of the cabin looks toward Big Eagle Creek. The back yard had a covered patio with an open air deck off the loft bedroom. It is situated on 7+ acres just off of US Highway 259 in the Ouachita Mountains, one of the oldest mountain ranges in the United States. On the property is a one-of-a-kind, split-level native stone cabin, ( approximately 1075 ft.²) whose rock walls date to the 1950’s.
The entry is a new 256 sq ft. addition including an 8 X 18’ breezeway with screened patio doors, flanked by a downstairs bathroom with shower on one end and a laundry room for staff cleaning and sanitation between guests. Guests doing 6+ day stays will be allowed to access the laundry room/ folding room upon arrangement)
A custom-made spiral oak staircase leads to the sleep loft bedroom and en-suite bathroom. There is one queen size bed and the bath has a shower with handheld wand or rain shower heads options.
From the dormer, french doors open onto an elevated open-air deck. It has a beautiful view of the mixed deciduous and evergreen native forest, as well as one of the two creeks that merge on the property.
An outside staircase decends into the fenced backyard. Big Eagle is a beautiful spring-fed creek behind the cabin with easy access for fishing. It also has an incredible deepwater hole. A little further downstream, but still on Merging Waters property, Cucumber Creek merges with it.
The main floor open-concept room with cathedral ceilings has a custom-built spiral staircase separating the lounging area from the self-catering kitchen area. The lounging area is complete with leather couch containing double-recliners, a built-in bookshelf, flat screen TV with Dish but no pay-per-view. There is an oak Armoire for guests convenience so a lot of luggage doesn’t have to be carried up the spiral staircase. It has room for both hanging and folded clothes storage and also houses various games. Please note: there is a 250 lb total weight limit on the stair case, so if the couples combined weight exceeds that, they will need to only have one person on it at a time.)
Just beyond the Armoire beneath a large picture window, is an oak library desk/table with lamp -large enough for a laptop computer. It also contains information about sites to see in and around the area and a journal where guests can add reflections on stay.
On the other side of the staircase is a complete kitchen, with full size appliances, including electric stove and oven, side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with ice in the door, microwave, dishwasher, (regular coffee pot and Keurig-, with complimentary coffee and tea) and an oak dining table. There is also a soapstone stove but due to the age of the chimney, it is for ornamental purposes only (No fires).
However just outside the back kitchen door leading into the backyard, is a covered patio and further in the yard a fire pit with bench so our couple guests can snuggle while enjoying a nice crackling fire with the wood provided in the backyard fire rack. There is also a charcoal grill in the backyard (guests should bring charcoal).
Just beyond the back gate is a fish cleaning station for any anglers. Please note that the hose for the fish cleaning station hooks up on the side of the house. FYI - We are on a rural water system (not well water) so please be sure the water is turned off and hose disconnected after using the fish cleaning area. Please dump any fish waste back to the creek to feed the ones that got away😊, rinse bucket and return for the next lucky angler.
Fish caught in the creek include walleye, small mouth, sun perch, pike. Fishing may be good or bad depending on a lot of factors including whether the river otters have been through recently. Good news is, if our guests happen to be here at the same time as the otters, it can be just as entertaining to watch them teaching their babies how to fish as catching one of your own.
Please note the following: There is no pay-per-view and No Internet as our location does not have a reliable tower internet service. Therefore we have installed a universal cell signal booster, that increases signal on phones that get a signal allowing guests whose carriers have coverage in this area to use their own cell internet connection and/or bring their mobile jet packs. Merging Waters is a couples-only cabin not suitable for children. No pets, parties, outside visitors or meetings are allowed. Also be advised: phone service may be spotty, depending on guests carriers and climatic conditions. Inside the cabin with the signal booster, carriers like Verizon AT&T and United Cellular generally have good to excellent signals. Older cell phones requiring 3G technology no longer receive signal because the area cell towers no longer support 3G.

I am so glad that you and your husband had such a wonderful stay at Merging Waters.
While I have always seen this property as unique and felt privileged to live here, it warms my heart to know that my guests do too, and return guests are just further evidence of its charm.
You were great guests who love and enjoy our natural world here while taking great care of Merging Waters.
To any possible future hosts, I recommend Elisabeth and her husband without reservation. They took excellent care of the cabin and property, treating Merging Waters like a beloved home away from home and leaving it in the same pristine condition as they found it.
Elizabeth, because of our mixed deciduous and evergreen woods framing the creeks, each season has its own charm, and the Fall colors are usually quite spectacular
I will certainly look forward to your next visit in any season you choose.
Thanks for the pleasure and privilege of being your host!

If you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing place, this is it. This is away from everything. Stunning view of the stars at night. Janet is an awesome host gives you everything you need to know up front. One note. If you leave on a Sunday avoid going through Hochtown and Broken Bow if you're heading south. It will take you 2 hours to get through there.

Peaceful getaway 10/10
Me and my boyfriend stayed here and will definitely return! It’s a beautiful cabin and a beautiful property to stay at. It’s quiet and away from people and there’s lots of land to discover. Loved reading in the hammock and listening to the sounds of the creek and the forest. It was so awesome we never even left the property!

Great eclipse getaway
Merging waters is a wonderful place to stay in southeast Oklahoma. The cabin is located on two beautiful creeks and we can't wait to come back during the summer months to fish and enjoy the swimming hole. We spent the April 8th eclipse on the bank with a great view and we also enjoyed watching the river otters.

Donna, What perfect weather we were blessed with to view this memorable event!
I’m so glad you two enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again this summer and. It is a real pleasure to share our world here with like-minded people who enjoy the natural world and love, respect and take care the property.
FYI Some of the fish typically caught include brownies, walleye, catfish and a pretty little fish we locals call a sun perch , (though not actually a perch at all) There are a couple of pics. on Merging Waters site that guests have shared some of fish that didn’t get away.
The Fall changing of the colors is another beautiful time of year here. Due to the combination of mixed evergreen and deciduous woodlands, as the sunlight strikes falling leaves and merging waters, I’ve been told that view is uniquely spectacular.
Thanks again for being such great guests. I will look forward to seeing you two again this summer and the privilege and pleasure of hosting your another stay at Merging Waters!

A late summer visit at Merging Waters
During a dry spell in Oklahoma, we climbed over hot rocks to see creek fish hunt dipping dragonflies at Merging Waters. The waters from the mountains are dry now, but the natural springs at Merging Waters never stop flowing. We could feel the cold spring water escape from the cracked crust of the earth! What a mighty vision of splendor within a single beatific locale. Thank you for sharing your blessing with the world, Janet.

Road noise was unbelievably loud.
The cabin was fine. The grounds were fine. The host was very attentive. We did not know that the cabins location was about 50 yards from the main highway. The traffic was constant all the way up til 1 am in the morning. We chose to leave early because of the road noise.

Merging Waters is located on approximately 7 1/2 acres of woodlands. Potential guests have the option through VRBO to make any inquiries prior to booking or may decide to choose instant booking.
For guests, hosts and booking agency interests/protections, exact addresses of properties are not available to the public at large on the VRBO site prior to booking,. However, Merging Waters “first welcome response” includes our precise physical address including driveway entry, location, as well as other information that may be pertinent. All of our guests are always invited to ask any additional questions that they may have. In addition when guests arrive, I always prefer to meet them, show them around and confirm that everything meets their expectations.
For potential future guests, FYI, in the Fall lots of things are going on in southeastern Oklahoma. For hunters, Bow and Black powder season are underway.
Many folks also like to take their families on final camping trips during Fall Break before colder winter weather arrives.
Also in case, anyone is not aware, the last few weeks, of October sees the arrival of many visitors from all over the nation as well as other nations for the Fall “Changing of the Colors”, driving through the Ouachita mountains, the national Talimena Scenic Byway and to Queen Wilhelmina State lodge, Mena, Arkansas. The Christian motorcycle Association also has their headquarters about 35 miles from Mena. The Beavers Bend State Park is also a very popular destination at this time of year and it is also about 38 miles south of Merging Waters cabin.
If traffic noise in the rural countryside along to the only two-lane highway connecting this area of SE Oklahoma,Texas and Arkansas is an issue, you might want to take that into consideration, especially in the busiest seasons and weekends. It is my desire to only host guests who are confident that they will be totally satisfied with their selection of Merging Waters and confident that they can have a great experience, in this beautiful and unique part of the State, but only the potential guest can decide that.
I invite you to look at “all” of the reviews. If you are unfamiliar with our area, please do a little research on what we have to offer, and know that any questions are welcomed and can be sent as an inquiry prior to booking.
Thanks for considering Merging Waters.

Anniversary
Our stay was absolutely amazing everything I thought it would be from the pictures. We spent our 24 year anniversary At the merging waters and it was everything I expected.
We plan on returning very soon and send family to this most amazing secluded vacation.
We would drink coffee while we fished.
This beautiful home had an amazing story behind it, and visiting with the owner and seeing her love for her gorgeous property made it so much more enjoyable for us.
You would not be disappointed in this property, I was worried about the review with the road noise, but I will tell you I live out in the country with zero road noise and this property did not bother us at all!
We had zero complaints❤️

Beautiful property and cabin
We enjoyed our stay at Merging Waters for our 1st Anniversary so very much.
The Property Owner was so kind and showed us around the property which was just as described if not better!
We spent most of our time at the creek fishing and relaxing. The fishing was amazing and the view was gorgeous.
If you are looking for a private place to disconnect from work and enjoy nature, this is your place! We did have spotty internet connection but were too busy enjoying our stay to even notice.
We enjoyed grilling some steaks after a full day at the creek and sitting at the fire pit listening to the nearby creek.
The property owner has put so much love and care into making the yard and property beautiful. The cabin was very nice, comfortable and the double headed rain shower was fantastic.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin and property with us. We had the most amazing time and will be back to visit again.

Our Stay at Merging Waters
The property was stunning. The cabin was very quaint, the landscape was gorgeous with the creeks behind the cabin and all the trees. The owner was so sweet, and we had some good conversation with her. The only drawback, in my opinion, was the proximity to the road, as there was some traffic noise. This may not bother most people, since you could just hop on the road and go wherever you want. I usually prefer a little more seclusion. But all in all, the cabin was great. I just wish it hadn't rained the whole time.

We had a wonderful weekend getaway at this cabin! The cabin was so cozy and clean…the pics don’t do it justice. Cozy Get-away
So happy to have found this beautiful cabin in the woods. The cabin has stone walls which keeps it nice and cool even during the hit summer days. Everything in the home works great. Janet was a super helpful, friendly and is literally a phone call away if you need anything. My wife and I enjoyed the property but our favorite moment was sitting on the top balcony while the cool rain fell the second afternoon we were there. A River runs through it !
The small old house/cabin was too charming and it was very comfortable inside. Everything that u needed was in there. The property outside was very beautiful and the two small rivers and clear water were very spectacular. Caught some Sun perch and a couple of black bass. The property is very secluded as far as other houses being around. Hwy 259 is close by but we didn’t ever notice the noise or anything when we was inside or at the back of the property by the creeks. Very nice owner, nice cabin and nice land. Would go back again. Charming piece of heaven!! Randall

Refreshing peacefulness
We enjoyed every moment from stepping out of our vehicle and hearing birds to fishing. The days were quiet and secluded, our own little slice of heaven away from anyone. The water was cool and peaceful. We wished this was our property so we never had to leave. We took some amazing drives through the mountains to see some amazing views. Went for dinner in the small town of talihina and saw deer and other wildlife on the drive back. We brought our atv and hit the nearby trails for some more amazing views. Come with food as there is not much nearby making it amazing!!! The host was friendly and offered suggestions.

The property owner met us at our arrival and showed us around and answered all our questions. The cabin was very clean and cozy.
We were able to communicate via text message with owner and she responded promptly. Just as described make sure to pack everything because there is NO Walmart just down the street. We had a great time even though it rained most of the week. We did have an evening where we were able sit out in lawn chairs and enjoy the river. We would definitely stay there again.
