Castaways is ideally located right across the road from popular Shoal Bay Beach and just a block from the popular Shoal Bay Country Club, as well as cafes, restaurants, boutiques, and shops including a chemist, newsagent and IGA grocery store. Along the picturesque stretch of beach you'll find calm water swimming, soft white sand, the wharf, boat ramp, and hiring options for stand up paddle boards and kayaks. At the eastern end of the beach, just 600m from your apartment is the Tomaree Head Summit walk, where you can follow the trail up to the lookout to take in breathtaking views over the pristine Port Stephens coastline. You're also just a 5-minute drive to Nelson Bay and its marina, where dolphin watch cruises operate daily.
When you're done exploring for the day, simply sit back, relax, breathe in the fresh salty air and enjoy the view out over the water from your front patio. This affordable, ground floor unit has air-conditioned open living with a leather lounge and TV, and a kitchen with microwave, cooktop and full size fridge/freezer. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and other with a bunk bed and single bed, and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. Guests have access to a shared laundry with a coin operated washing machine, as well as off-street parking for one car – park the car and walk straight to the beach!

The unit was neat. There was a bad smell in the kitchen cupboards and drawers. It is a very basic unit but it did the job. The beds were comfortable. It would have been nice if we could open the glass sliding door out to the front but it seems to be permanently closed. Great location, right across from the beach and walking distance to all the beautiful shops, cafes and restaurants.

Very comfortable and good location.

Lovely vacation although the only complaint is the unit had a terrible musty smell.I had to leave doors windows open and bought some air freshener to help with damp smell.

The property manager was very helpful.
The vacation rental was somewhat dirty.
I was very happy with the location.
I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.

It is a great location but the Unit is not very well equipped. It needs updating and the kitchen needs restocking. With the lack of these necessities it makes for an uncomfortable stay for the asking price.

On arrival several problems with unit. Unable to contact the booking agent by phone.Had to drive back to agents office.Trying to contact their office by phone almost impossible. Took 26 hours to rectify the two major problems.We where only there for 67 hours!!

Disappointing
Very poor quality accomodation. You would find better in a two star roadside motel. Even worse staff at Nelson Bay Winning accomodation.

perfect for families
Our stay was fantastic. Apartment clean so close to the beach with great views and very affordable for a family on a budget. Walking distance to shops and cafe.
