I stayed at this property for a week with relatives that flew in from NY. We had 5 adults and 2 children. The property was very clean and just as advertised. It was in a great location for our excursions visiting some of Michigan's sites. The house was amazing. Very large with each bedroom having enough privacy and most with an en-suite bathroom. Many areas to sit and converse or just be alone with the surroundings. We spent a lot of time on the deck that oversees one of the greens on the golf course. The downstairs is like a whole other rental with a full kitchen, fireplace, living area, two bedrooms, game room and full bath. Plenty of space. Because the children were on the younger side, they didn't want to stay in the basement. Perfect for teens or grown-ups. There is a large fire pit in the front of the house with more than adequate seating and much firewood available to use. The gas grill is large and also a charcoal grill available if needed. The hosts provided so many conveniences at this rental. The kitchen is well stocked for making meals. They furnished soap, shampoo and conditioner for each shower in the house. Dishwashing soap, laundry soap, dryer sheets, cleaning products, paper towels, toilet paper etc. I've rented several homes on VRBO and this one was the very best stocked for quests. The pool and hot tubs available at Cedar Village were very nice and clean. There were many lounge chairs available and bathrooms right near the pool.

Comfortably Spacious and Well Equipped

Two sets of grandparents and a family of 5 with 3 children under 6 years old had a very comfortable weekend located close to other family members staying at nearby properties while coming together for a nephew's memorial service. Children thoroughly enjoyed the game room, and the setting was a beautiful walk to nearby properties.

Beautiful Home in a great location

This house worked perfectly for our family/friend President's Weekend Ski Trip. There was plenty of room for everyone. The kids loved having their own space in the basement. The layout of the house is perfect for a group trip. Couldn't really get any closer to the Cedar River Village Lodge. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Northern Michigan Retreat

This property was perfect for our group - 2 families, comprised of 4 adults and 5 children. We had plenty of space, and having the full basement with game room was a huge bonus for our stay! The house was clean and the amenities were awesome. We loved the double sided fireplace and we were able to totally disconnect and relax. We will definitely keep this property in our rotation.

Stunning home!

Our group was wowed by this home in the best way. It was extremely clean and fully stocked with everything we needed. There was plenty of space for 9 adults and 4 kids. The kids were entertained by the game room and the adults enjoyed relaxing by the fire. The hosts were extremely responsive and had the home prepped for our arrival, the driveway was plowed, porch lights were on and heat was turned up. We look forward to another trip!

Extended family getaway

Three generations enjoyed a winter break weekend. The house was beautiful and well laid out. Each bedroom has plenty of privacy. We unfortunately left a small item behind, which was noticed and reported to us the same day. Our only suggestion would be to have another large pot in the kitchen. We were a little disappointed that the resort indoor pool was closed for rennovations. The pool at the inn was available but was busier.n.

Nurture the Spirit

Seven women gathered at Rustic Northern Retreat for our third annual retreat. The setting was a perfect place to deepen our friendship, commune with nature, God, the unseen and each other. With two well-stocked kitchens and excellent cooks, we were well fed. We hiked at Grass River Nature Preserve and on the grounds, spread out for yoga in the downstairs, and gathered around the fire circle for singing, conversation, stargazing and laughter. An ideal outing that we hope to repeat next fall.

Winter Wonderland

The property location is perfect. Nice home with plenty of room for 3 families, all 12 of us. The only negatives were the horrible sewer smell outside the home. We build a fire outside in the fire pit but the smell was soo bad we couldn’t enjoy. The property description indicated that the indoor pool at Shanty Creek was included and it is not. Overall we enjoyed our family ski weekend.

Awesome

This house was big enough to bring our high school and college age children and their friends. It had several area's in the house that people could talk or watch TV. We didn't feel crowded and the kitchen was massive. We have stayed here in the summer and we get to the Dockside on Torch lake in about 20 minutes or to Bellaire in about 10 minutes. The ski hill for Schuss is only few minutes away at Cedar River Lodge. We will be coming back to this house again!

Bugs, mold, broken appliances and water leaks in the ceiling

This is was was an awful stay. The Water heater was replaced during our visit and the water was shut completely off and the handymen were permitted to in the house with us guests despite us being assured they wouldnt be inside the house. A bug resembling a cockroach was found walking along a bathroom sink. The fireplace wouldn’t turn on. The refrigerator froze everything. There was also a water leak in the ceiling in the basement. And multiple drop ceiling tiles were moldy in the basement. But for our “inconvenience” we were offered to stay two extra hours. It was a bad joke.

Owner's response: "Kayla, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. - We have not received any complaints about bugs, however, we have had the house treated by professionals. They were out last week and did not report any issues. We also have another visit scheduled to ensure there is no problem. - We had a water leak many years ago. There was one piece of water-stained tile this was not mold. This has been replaced, we have no water leaks. - We have not had anyone reach out about broken appliances. We have not had anything that needed to be repaired or did not work for us. - The water heater was replaced during your stay, we did give you a heads-up and asked if this was okay. You indicated it would not be a problem and that you would be gone during the days. The water was only shut off for a short time while the tanks were swapped out. - The fireplace is controlled by a thermostat. It was 80 degrees and you can't use it when it's that warm. We're sorry for the inconvenience. - Our refrigerator is about 1 month old, and we've had zero issues or complaints. Could you have changed the setting by accident? - We offered you early check-in/late check-out before you arrived, this was a kind gesture on our part it was in no way compensation. We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests. We will continue to strive for those 5-star experiences we know we can deliver."

Our family of six loved spending Father’s Day weekend in this secluded retreat. While surrounded by nature, we enjoyed the close access to the pool and amenities. We also took advantage of Torch Lake being 20 minutes away. It is the perfect location for day trips to Charlevoix and Traverse City. The house itself has everything a group would need. We would definitely return.
