Summary:
Tournament days and Biltmore days end the same way here: dinner around a table for six and the dog asleep by the fireplace. Pet-friendly and sized for a family of six, with TVs in all three bedrooms and a king suite that has its own bath and a desk. 14 minutes to the Biltmore Estate, 13 to downtown, 5 to Buncombe County Sports Park. A few past guests have already booked it a second time.
The Space:
A two-story townhome in Candler, on Asheville's west side. The front door opens into the living room, with the kitchen, dining room, and a half bath behind it; all three bedrooms and both full baths are upstairs.
Living room: two sofas and an armchair around the fireplace, the TV above it, and a big leather ottoman. The shelf by the stairs holds board games (Uno, Telestrations, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza) and books.
Kitchen and dining: granite counters and stainless appliances, including what one guest called a "very large refrigerator with icemaker." Coffee is a Keurig. The table seats 6, and French doors open onto the back patio.
Sleeping:
Bedroom 1: king bed, ensuite bath with a tub-shower combo and double vanity, desk, TV, upstairs
Bedroom 2: queen bed, TV, upstairs
Bedroom 3: queen bed, TV, upstairs
The hall bath upstairs has a tub-shower combo, and the washer and dryer are up there too. A Pack 'n Play is available.
The whole townhome and the patio are yours; the lawn behind the patio is shared with the neighbors.

Guest Access:
Both floors, the garage, and the back patio are yours. Parking is 2 cars: one in the garage, one in the driveway. A Yale keypad on the front door lets you in, and the code arrives ahead of your stay. It's one low step up from the walk to the door. Arrive from 4 pm; leave by 10 am.
The Neighborhood:
Monmouth Way is a newer townhome community in Candler, and "quiet neighborhood" is the phrase guests use for it. Ingles and the Dripolator cafe are each 3 minutes away. Buncombe County Sports Park is 5, an easy base for tournament weekends. Downtown Asheville is 13 minutes, the Biltmore Estate 14, and the Blue Ridge Parkway 17.
Getting Around:
Plan on driving. I-40 exit 44 is about 2 miles from the house, and downtown, Biltmore, and the Parkway are all under 20 minutes away. Uber and Lyft pick up at the house. Parking is for 2 cars, one in the garage and one in the driveway.
Other Things to Note:
- Pets are $85 each.
- The lawn out back has no fence, so keep dogs leashed out there. For a longer walk, Buncombe County Sports Park is 5 minutes away with a walking trail and a dog park.
- The community doesn't allow street parking, so a third car has to park off site. The garage is snug: a Ford Escape just fits, so trucks and minivans take the driveway.
- Coffee is Keurig only, with starter pods; pack extra if you drink a lot.
- Bears visit, so the trash and recycling cans live in the garage. Roll them to the road Sunday night for Monday pickup, then back in. At checkout, leave bagged kitchen trash in the kitchen.
- A camera mounted on the garage covers the driveway and the front door.
- You share one wall with a neighbor, so quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am.
- Hoping to get in before 4? Ask. It depends on that day's cleaning schedule.
Interaction with Guests:
The keypad handles arrival, so you won't wait on anyone. Around 10 the next morning I'll send a note asking how the first night went. Questions any time after that go through the Airbnb app.
