This smartly furnished, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house is a 2 minute walk to Penca Beach - one of Guanacasteā€™s most beautiful white sand beaches. Snorkel, skimboard, jog, swim, beachcomb, wade in tidepools or simply sunbathe and enjoy the gorgeous scenery by day, watch a different spectacular sunset every evening and stargaze by night. The sound of the surf will lull you sleep in this home built on stilts, nestled in the greenbelt tree canopy - A great place to relax with window seats to view monkeys, birds and iguanas or take a siesta. If you want to experience the real Costa Rica look no further. This is "Pura Vida" defined! Get to know the local culture in Potrero, where you can practice your Spanish on friendly Ticos, join in a soccer game or hit the Farmerā€™s Market Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There are 3 grocery stores and 3 restaurants within a 5 minute walk from the house. To the north is the Las Catalinas township where you can explore other beautiful beaches, enjoy a gourmet lunch, rent SUP boards, snorkeling equipment & mountain bikes to ride on their trails. Public transportation bus stops within easy walking distance. Private and shared tours and transportation available.

Beautiful, safe property perfectly located within walking distance to Playa Penca. All amenities were well kept and available to use. Our host was wonderful, and even informed us of howler monkeys across the street from the property for our son to see. Very clean and well kept. We took coffee on the screened in back porch daily and listened to the howler monkeys, ocean waves and bird songs. Would recommend to anyone we know traveling in the area. Also loved the sweet dogs and cats on the property.

Fabulous hosts! Beautiful accommodations. We loved Penca Beach, the swimming and the sunsets. Will definitely stay again !The accommodations were superb, modern and well stocked.

Everything was perfect. Meliisa was a gracious & accommodating host. She helped arrange airport transfer & was quick to communicate during my stay. Coffee on the back porch each morning was delightful. The beach was absolutely stunning & never crowded. The sunsets took my breath away. I look forward to returning soon.

This was our second stay and once again it surpassed all our expectations! The house is a wonderful space with excellent amenities. The proximity to Penca Beach is unbelievable and we were able to enjoy nightly sunsets. The area restaurants are great. The property is a perfect location to enjoy many wonderful beaches and communities within a short drive. The hosts are gracious and were wonderful throughout our stay. The level of care and detail made us feel at home. They both have great ideas for day trips and fantastic recommendations for restaurants. We would highly recommend this property! Thank-you for such a great stay, looking forward to being back again!

We all hate reviews that say "I would have given it 11 stars if I could." Yep, this is definitely one of those! Incredible rental with friendly hosts. The house is very well appointed on a beautiful property. My husband and I especially loved the enclosed, screened back room that faced the jungle. We woke to howler monkeys and enjoyed hearing the occasional iguana fall from the trees. My hubs likes to "play it by ear" when we travel and I like to do the same AFTER I have all the info I need. :) Host Melissa answered my many, many questions before we arrived and even helped with airport transportation. After a wildly stressful year, we were looking for a peaceful vacation and couldn't be happier with the results. The house is amazing and has everything you need. It was the little things that made it even more special like labeling all the switches and including sunscreen and bug spray for guests to use. We didn't rent a car but didn't miss it. We can't wait to go back, which we will be doing next year. Maybe with less stress and perhaps with a car. 11 stars all the way!

Fun at Playa Penca

We enjoyed our stay at this property a short walk from the beach, a few restaurants, and a small grocery store. Much more a short drive away without the hustle and bustle. Hosts Melissa and Richard were friendly and helpful.

Perfect Beach Getaway!

Spent a week at this clean, well decorated and comfortable beach house within walking minutes to Playa Penca and Playa Prieta. Melissa and Richard were fantastic hosts and were truly a pleasure to chat with and made us feel very much at home during our stay. I am already missing our mornings drinking coffee on the front porch admiring their beautiful landscaping while planning our daily adventures. Without question we will definitely be back!

We Want To Go Back!!!

We stayed for 7 days with our family of 5. The house was perfect with 3 young kids. The beach a few steps away was our favorite out of all the ones we visited in the area. The sunsets were spectacular. We woke up one morning seeing 18 howler monkeys climb through the trees at sunrise and that is something we will never forget! The location cannot be beat, and the shops and restaurants a few steps away make grabbing a meal a breeze. It was a magical and peaceful stay!

Great place close to a beautiful beach!

Melissa and Richard were great hosts, answering questions throughout our stay. Great locationā€¦ a short walk to a beautiful beach! We stayed 14 nights. The house is very comfortable and clean with a beautiful screened-in room where we enjoyed our morning tea & Baileys. We especially enjoyed listening to the howler monkeys and the variety of birds. We actually got to see some monkeys one morning. The house is equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed living in the community of Potrero with 4 restaurants within walking distance and a selection of grocery stores. You must try the gelato place. We would highly recommend this place!

Outstanding Home Away From Home in Potrero

Melissa and Richard were incredible hosts and every part of this property is spectacular. The home itself is beautiful and cared for very well. The sunroom was our favourite space to spend time in the mornings and evenings, listening to the birds and howler monkeys. The proximity to the beach is remarkable. The local community offers a number of great restaurants and gelato which is a short walk from the house. Thank you for providing a great stay, we will definitely be back on our next visit to Costa Rica!

Great house and great host

Great house in a wonderful location. Located a little away from the tourist areas it offers an amazing local feel. The beach is a short walk away and is quiet, more picturesque, and with far fewer people than other beaches in the area. The food at the local restaurants is amazing, the people are phenomenal, and the host is awesome! Book it, but dont tell too many people!

This property is perfect for so many! Birdwatchers, beach lovers, get away from super touristy spots with great local restaurants but close enough to drive to more ā€œpopular spots.ā€ Casa Canciones is beautifully maintained, spotless inside and located on an amazing property where we saw so many incredible birds,iguanas and a couple monkeys from the screened in porch! All just about a block from the beach. We highly recommend this home. The owners are close by and so responsive.

Melissa and Richard have lived full time in Costa Rica for over 32 years. They are in the charter fishing business.

Por que o anfitriĆ£o escolheu essa propriedade

We fell in love with Penca Beach at first sight. We purchased the property and built our home there 27 years ago. The back of our property borders a greenbelt with beautiful trees that host monkeys, tropical bird species and iguana. Our now young adult children were born and raised in Potrero Costa Rica. We have close personal relationships with all of the Costa Rican families on our street and in our neighborhood. We have enjoyed being an active part of our community for years. We built the new guest house on our property so that we could host and share this beautiful place with others.

The property is built with security in mind. Owners live on site year around in main house and a caretaker also resides on site in separate house. Property is gated with space for guests to park at least two cars inside.
