Come relax in a Tranquil Cottage on Island Lake!

Charming LAKEFRONT home, right on the shore of Island Lake Kubash Bay, straight north of Duluth. Living room w/ gas fireplace & large window to beautiful sunset views, and water’s edge deck! Redecorated in 2022! HOSTS STAY in the LOWER LEVEL apt of the house, to give guests the top 2 floors to themselves (w/ their own entrance). 20-25 min to Canal Park/downtown, 17 min from the mall area, in a setting that is the best of both worlds: “Northwoods” peace & nature, w/ amenities & nearby conveniences of a rural city area!

*** DOCK IS REMOVED from the lake approximately Oct 15th. BACK IN the lake approx. May 15th. (Likely paddleboat & inflatable SUP also, but this is more weather-dependent)

* Many STAIRS from street level down to the house & lake (see pics).
* Please note our easy access to the city is due to our proximity to the small nearby highway. Vehicle traffic is easily heard outdoors, and while generally quiet, there are time of the day/week/year where this varies as to the amount of traffic.
[Gnesen Township Permit STR #23-04]. **PLEASE review the HOUSE MANUAL on site (in binder by the entry door).

We’re sorry we cannot accommodate guests’ pets. We have 2 cats of our own, who live in the lower level (One is outdoor also). And fenced chickens.

Perfect place for peace and quiet, right on the water! Angie and Erich are the most welcoming hosts, and there if you need anything.

You can tell that the owners have put a lot of thought into the design of this cabin. We appreciated the spacious deck and beautiful lake view. Inside, there are large windows so you get plenty of natural light. When we wanted to close up for the night, the windows were sound proof, the A/C units and ceiling fan were quiet and the sun blocking shades let us sleep in. The bed and couches were super comfy. We enjoyed the well-appointed kitchen with full size appliances, many cooking items and plenty of spices. Everything was spotless. It's an easy drive from Duluth.

The house was perfect for a relaxing weekend at the lake. Great views from the deck and the large window in the living room. The screened seating area was perfect in the evenings. Great kitchen - outfitted with plenty of cooking supplies. Ange and Erich were great hosts - lots of communication before and during our stay. Great place for a stay on the lake.

What a wonderful space to getaway! Ange was so great with communication and even helped me find a place to eat for my birthday! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Cute and cozy place with an amazing view. Nice to have a covered spot for my vehicle and even though there are stairs down to the place, it didn’t feel like a big hike. It was just the reset I needed and I didn’t want to leave :) Can’t wait to visit again someday when plants are in bloom and/or in the fall.

Super easy to find (especially with the great communication from the hosts)! The location was outstanding—quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful, yet still close enough to Duluth and multiple state parks for easy exploring. The cabin was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Would absolutely stay here again!

Great stay on Island Lake. I highly recommend this property… The owners were great to communicate with and had a nice ice cream treat upon our arrival. The cottage was clean, very well stocked, and the view of the bay was fantastic. We would stay again!!!

Perfect Island Lake Reservoir Retreat!

Great house on a quiet bay! The accommodations were modern, clean & comfortable. Two of the best VRBO hosts! Clear communication before, during, and after our stay. So many great amenities inside and out (fire pit, small beach, great dock and water toys)! We will book again! Thank you for a great stay!

Lovely property- very clean and nicely decorated. Friendly owners who reside in lower level, but are very respectful of your privacy. Owners provided a sweet welcome treat. Beautiful scenery and wonderful place to stay. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Our Island Lake stay was just wonderful. The property was very comfortable and well appointed. The location gave us instant access to lakes and woods as well a couple of nice local restaurants. We have already booked a return trip.

We let our guests be, to enjoy their stay, but are happy to say hello to anyone who’d like to. We don’t have a lot of free time to enjoy our beautiful lake property, so it makes us very happy to be able to have others enjoy it! All are welcome!
