Catherine's Lair A Precious, Peaceful Homestead in beautiful Mayo Countryside

Welcome to our humble abode,

The House lays 3.5 Miles or 5 kilometres outside Westport, in the idyllic part of Clogher/Fahy and Islandeady villages.
Surrounded by beautiful scenery and stunning vieuws, Croag Patrick "the Reek" ... Mayo's famous Mountain you can see from our sunlounge on a good clear day .

The House is an old converted cottage style farm- house Which was extended with a sunlounge and a poolroom in 2000.

Pictures are available of the old building , it reflects times gone by, with stove Heating and open fires for guests in the living rooms which gives a very cosy atmosphere in the evenings.

The bedrooms are decorated in a natural Decor and are done up to cater for longer stays if wanted.
NOTE:
All stays are welcomed with a continental breakfast each morning if wanted this is included your price

The bathroom and Kitchen are shared between the occupants of the rooms.

The Kitchen is kitted out with:
Cutlery, Cookware, Washingmachine, Refrigerator and Dishwasher.

The bathroom has a shower and Bath available.

A poolroom is also available where you could enjoy a game or two, all included.
The Guests livingroom has an open fire boardgames and satellite television with DvD player , different DvD's /Movies are available .

Outside there are areas where you can have a barbeque or a nice meal in the Gazebo, weather permitting.
A field, which is free off access leads directly to Clogher Lake where you can enjoy the peace with Stunning views, where you can meditate or just relax if you wanted.

A gent and Ladies Bycicle are available for daytrips around the area which you can borrow and use to go sightseeing on a beautiful day , The Possibilities are to cycle the greenway, visit Achill Island and enjoy a daytrip cycling which is quite spectacular.
Heading out a different direction to Louisburg which has OldHead Beach as a pleasant amenity, you can visit Bertra beach and Murrisk village, before Louisburgh, which is host to Croag Patrick Mayo's famous Mountain, the so called "Reek " which you can climb Croagh Patrick on a beautiful day, which is a 3.5 hour climb, with beautiful scenery to discover overlooking Clew Bay and Mullranny village on the other side.
However weather is never a guarantee which can be a challenge it is worth taking this hike and enjoy that challenge .

If you prefer to journey by car for longer excursions , a drive of 5 minutes from the house will take you into the Heart of Westport , with roads connecting to Achill Island or the other way into Leenaune, Cliffden, Letterfrack, Roundstone .
Leenaune is the first town that leads you into beautiful Connemara National Park Galway ,with Kylemore Abbey on its way down.
We are priviledged to help you and guide you to experience the most beautiful scenery of the North West, really just a stone throw away from where you're accommodation will be.
