Ty Mad is situated in the quiet village of Plenee-Jugon, surrounded by the pretty countryside of northern Brittany. The cottage stands in half an acre of garden, with lawns and mature fruit trees. It has the advantages of being private and centrally located, making it an ideal family holiday home. The lakeside town of Jugon-Les-Lacs is 10 minutes drive and offers fishing, boating and bike hire as well as a heated outdoor and in door swimming pool and tennis courts. Further a field is the medieval town of Dinan 30 minutes, with its castle walls, timbered buildings and port. The beaches of the emerald coast are just over half an hours drive away.

Short stay

We enjoyed our stay, the location was prefect for easy journeys to the coast and further afield to explore. We had very warm weather and the house stayed cool at all times, thankfully. We really enjoyed Jurgon les Lac, and so did our dog who loved swimming in the lake.

Enjoyable Relaxing Stay

We had a great visit. The house was as expected and had everything we needed. It was great to have fresh bread every other morning with a Boulangerie less than five minutes walk away. One of the unexpected highlights was the town fete with lots of stalls and live music in the evening. Plenee Jugon is an ideal base for visiting the sites and towns of Brittany.

A comfortable Breton retreat

The property was quite clean and comfortable and well equipped however access is not easy since it involves a fairly steep and very uneven path with no supporting handrail.

A wonderful week at Ty Mad

Just completed a wonderful week at this property. Everything was perfect, from the Comms with the owner through to check in and the house itself. The house was very clean and had everything you could have needed. Situated in a lovely village within a few mins drive of Jugon Les Lacs which is a great way to spend a day either walking around the lake or hiring bikes. Dinan well worth a visit as is Mont St Michel. Thoroughly enjoyed time there with my children and would highly recommend

A wonderful, relaxing stay with an enchanting garden.

We were blessed with superb weather for our stay so we made the most of the wonderful garden, and loved the birdsong each morning. The cottage was comfortable and we felt really relaxed after our week. Good too to be able to stroll into the village and find at least one boulangerie open each day for fresh bread and cakes. Not every restaurant was open, but we discovered a great creperie just a short drive away at Dolo. The directions to the cottage were clear and we had no problems either gaining access or during our stay, so it was all very stress free, thanks to Julie and Shirley. Ty Mad was the perfect base for exploring the area which we did not know too well, with the coast and places like Dinan and St Malo within easy reach.

As described, charming cottage in beautiful area of Brittany.

Just finished our 2 week stay June into July 2022. Cottage really was as described, everything practical you need and comfortable/cosy. Completely hidden from the street, with an extremely generous enclosed garden, so of course our 2 cocker spaniels loved it! Plenee Jurgon is a lovely village and seems to be growing. Has everything you could need in walking distance, intermarche and most importantly boulangerie/patisserie. So if you don’t want to drive anywhere you can just relax in the garden and take a short walk to the shops. Good location to explore Brittany. Dinan 30 minute drive is well worth a visit. Jurgon Les Lacs only 10 mins drive and has a lovely walk around the lake here plus water park, swimming pools and bike trails. Centre of village has a beautiful square to relax with a coffee and great options for food. Dinard a bit further away but well worth the 50 min to an hour’s drive. St Malo is just a short drive from here and also worth a visit. If relaxing and or exploring Brittany, this holiday cottage is perfect for a family. The host and local contact for the property were both very pleasant and replied to any queries we had without delay.

Wir hatten 3 sehr erholsame Wochen in diesem zentral gelegenen Haus! In dem riesigen Garten konnte sich unsere Hündin dank kompletter Umzäunung frei bewegen und dank herrlichstem Wetter haben wir die lange Wäscheleine gerne genutzt!Das Haus ist von der Straße aus nicht zu sehen. Einen freien Parkplatz haben wir immer auf der Straße gefunden.Die Lage ist zentral, aber nicht zu laut. Leider ist der Ort ziemlich verwaist - viele Ladenzeilen sind leer, keine Restaurants, aber noch 1 Bäckerei und 1 Bar-Tabac-Laden. Der Supermarkt (auch sonntags offen) ist fußläufig etwas zu weit entfernt. Unsere Hoffnung auf ein belebtes Örtchen, das zum VerweilenFlanieren einlädt, hat sich also leider nicht erfüllt.Schöne Hunderunden (ca. 30min) konnten wir machen: ein kleines Stück entlang einer ruhigen Straße gab es einen Spazierweg mit Trimm-Dich-Pfad und Bächlein - Abkühlung für den Hund! Und einen schönen Spielplatz mit einer Fahrrad-/ Roller-Parcours-Strecke und einen eingezäunten Ballsportplatz - alles sehr gepflegt! Das Haus ist okay und alles hat gut funktioniert. Uns fehlte es an Ablage-/Stau-/Hängevorrichtungen, Fliegengittern, einem überdachten Gartensitzplatz und der Kühlschrank war uns zu klein. Die 2 Doppelbetten im OG sind mit ca. 140cm nicht allzu breit (Maße bei mitgebrachter Bettwäsche bedenken!) Das kleine Bad oben hat eine Wanne mit Duschmöglichkeit.Wir konnten viele Ausflüge unternehmen - die Lage führt in jede Himmelsrichtung schnell an schöne Ziele!

Belle maison pour les vacances au calme

Un endroit très calme, un grand jardin clôturé (notre chien était heureux). Nous avons passé de très bons moments. On a pu visiter Saint-Malo (50 min), Cancale, Dinan, Dinar. Les plages sont à 30 min en voiture.

Ferienhaus mit schönem Garten zum Wohlfühlen

Wir haben uns in diesem gemütlichen Ferienhaus sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Sanitärräume sind nicht auf dem neuesten Stand, für uns war dies aber völlig in Ordnung. Es gibt am Ort noch zwei sehr gute Bäckereien, eine Post und ein Intermarche, somit kann man alles Notwendige schnell vor Ort einkaufen. Der Ort bietet ausserdem einen schönen gepflegten Spazierweg am Bach entlang mit Fitnessgeräten, Spielplatz, Basketball- und Fussballfeld. Auch für Hundespaziergänge oder zum Joggen sehr schön. Von der Lage her gut, wenn man sowohl ans Meer wie ins Hinterland will und nicht so extrem touristisch wie die Orte am Meer. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Excellent gite pour les amoureux de la nature

Nous avons passé de merveilleux moments en famille : déjeuners et jeux dans le jardin avec nos petits enfants, le tout en écoutant le chant des oiseaux...Calme, sérénité sont au rendez vous. Aux environs, les espaces jeux pour les enfants (Jugon, Dolo) sont très bien conçus pour des petits de moins de 3 ans. La visite de l'abbaye de Boquen était également très enrichissante. La propriétaire est très réactive pour répondre à nos questions et la gardienne très efficace pour satisfaire nos demandes. Nous recommandons ce gite.

Belle petite maison de charme

Maison très bien équipée, et bien agencée, sur un terrain vaste et clos. Il manquait juste des volets aux fenêtres des chambres pour ne pas être réveillé avec le jour à 6h00.

Maison de charme cachée et jardin agréable au soleil

Visite des environs, partagée avec temps au jardin ensoleillé. Un peu peu de vaisselle. Pas de réserve de couverts...notamment. Sinon, très chouette endroit, bien situé. Pas loin de balades (balade des Douaniers, St Malo, Cap Frehel, Dinan, Rennes, St Sulliac (plus beau village de France).

Très moyen

Beau jardin mais maison humide, les boiseries ont gonflé et la grande porte fenêtre est impossible à ouvrir du séjour . Elle est à remplacer. Travaux de peinture à effectuer. Du portail à l’entrée, accès rendu difficile par la pluie , glissant et boueux, risques de chutes… 2 fauteuils de jardin ?? Un peu léger ! Nous nous attendions à mieux !

Merci pour votre avis. Je suis désolé que vous ayez été déçu de votre séjour. Je n’étais pas au courant du problème avec la fenêtre, mais les travaux de réparation et de peinture sont maintenant programmés avant les prochains invités. Le chemin de la porte à la maison a été lavé à grande puissance et le chemin a été balayé deux jours avant votre arrivée, mais à cause des fortes pluies du lendemain et de la nuit, il est devenu humide et boueux. Je vais le faire laver à nouveau et nous mettrons en place un panneau avertissant les gens de faire attention sur le chemin. Comme vous le comprendrez, c’est le début de la saison et la maison a été fermée pendant les mois d’hiver, donc elle peut sentir un peu le moisi mais la maison elle-même n’est pas humide. Il y a un ensemble complet de chaises de jardin et une table. J’ai commencé à sortir les chaises, mais il pleuvait abondamment, alors j’ai pensé que vous ne voudriez pas vous asseoir dehors, alors je suis désolé de ne pas les avoir toutes mises dehors.

I live in Yorkshire and I like to spend time in France. Ty Mad originally belonged to the village Miller who had it built in the 1950's. It retains many of its original features, beamed ceilings and a stone fireplace but it has a new roof, a new heating system and has been completely re-wired. What attracted me to the cottage was the chalet style of the property, unlike a lot of Brittany cottages it has big windows which make the rooms light and airy. The cottage also has a fantastic garden, with lawns and fruit trees. I enjoy my trips to the Ty Mad and I strive to provide a great holiday experience for my guests.

Ty Mad is located in the pretty countryside of northern Brittany and is within easy access of a number of places. The lakeside town of Jugon-les-lacs is just 5 miles away. It has a heated open air swimming pool and you can go boating on the lake, there is also a selection of good restaurants. The medieval town of Dinan is just under 30 minutes drive, you can look around the many shops or take a boat ride along the river. I like to go on Thursday mornings to the market for the fresh local produce and then have lunch at the artisan creperie. The emerald coast is only 35 minutes drive, there are seven different beaches and you can chose to go to one of the more secluded beaches or you can go to one of the established resorts and take part in activities such as diving or beach volley ball.

The cottage stands in half an acre of garden which has the advantage of being centrally located in a village with all the amenities and being secluded as it is hidden from view by a high wall and gate on the road side. This makes for a peaceful and relaxing holiday with the convenience of the local shops and bars. The village bakery is just round the corner from the cottage and I like to go there in the morning for freshly baked bread and croissants. The central location of Ty Mad also makes it a great place from which to experience French life and culture. There are a number of holiday homes in the village but Plenee-Jugon is still a working French village and there are a number of events which take place throughout the year in Plenee-Jugon and surrounding villages such as musical evenings and cycle races.
