The Beach House is located in beautiful Shanna Bay, right on the beach on the very north end of Cat Island.
It is the ideal place to vacation if you like to swim, to snorkel, fish, paddle-board, to kayak, to take long walks along beautiful pink beaches, to discover caves and blue holes, to experience Bahamian and Continental cuisine, to lie in a hammock and read, to grill your catch in the evening, to watch the sun set in the turquoise sea, to meet up with rays and turtles ( and maybe a straying barracuda), to visit historic places - really, only one - and to come back to again and again.
Two generous bedrooms with plenty of place for extra beds or cribs, two bathrooms with open air showers and a lovely living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining porch where you will spend most of your time.
Satellite TV and High Speed unlimited internet access included.
The Shanna Beach House is close to two restaurants within five minutes walk, and the closest grocery store is only ten minutes away by car.
Arrangement can be made for car rental, fishing guide and deep sea fishing.
Kayaks and paddle boards are included in the rental, and snorkels and fins are available on request.

Another Great Stay!

This was our third time staying at Orange Creek. Once again, we had a wonderful stay. Jacqueline and Curtis, the owners, are exceptional and very responsive to your needs. They took care of anything we needed ASAP. Debbie and Daisy, the caretakers, were there daily to make sure we had everything we needed and so very friendly! The beach is the most beautiful beach on the island and the location of the house is truly "on the beach." The house has a fully equipped kitchen to prepare your meals and the outdoor dining is so nice with a beautiful view. Thank You Jacqueline and Curtis. We will be back!!!!

Disappointed

The beach at the house is fantastic. The house needed some care. The internet at the house was spotty at best and in fact for a couple of days did not work. The AC in the bedroom did not cool the bedroom as the temps in the bedroom were 85-90 degs making it hard to sleep. The electrical system for the lights in and around 1 of the sleeping pods and bathroom was not working. In general the furniture in the living room was dirty and in fact we had roaches crawl out of the sofa. We understand that its a beach cottage and its hard to keep things clean. It would be helpful for the owner to have some instructions about the unit regarding check in and check out as well as helpful island hints about grocery stores and restaurants, etc. We left 3 days early due to the conditions. So, disappointed.

Paradise

Truly a vacation. Yes, off the beaten path, but man is it worth it. The absolute most peaceful and beautiful beach my wife and I have ever been to, and we’ve been to lots. Jacqueline is a wonderful host, and the property is comfortable and well maintained. Would definitely go again

ON the beach!

Our goal was to stay as close to the water as possible and this hit the target! Great location in Orange Creek on beautiful beach with no one around. Perfect for a couples, two couples, or a family. A short walk to Shonna’s Cove for dining, or use the fully equipped kitchen to make your own meals.

Perfect in every respect

[late September early October] The house was even better than we imagined, in terms of comfort, layout, kitchen, baths, privacy, quiet, and being right on a stunningly beautiful beach. All we did was relax with books and walks on the beach; no movies, no emails, no texting, even though we could have. The setting is nothing short of fantastic. We snorkeled and paddle boarded a bit but mostly we just…relaxed. We had the entire beach to ourselves. Will absolutely come back. Thank you Jackie and Daisy.

Amazing secluded beach location

This place is perfect. Beautiful house that is perfect for two families but not too much for 1. If you're coming to Cat Island, point is to unplug and get off the beaten path, and enjoy some time by the beach, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. Point is, a bit more remote and rustic. But if you're good with that, then this is a great corner of Cat Island to be in. Nearby store within a 10min drive with all that you need, and a great restaurant a short walk up the hill. Other than that you have the place mostly to yourself. Would love to stay again!

Beautiful house… gorgeous beach ! We loved every minute of our stay! So relaxing and breath taking ! Daisy and Debbie taught us so much about the Island life! Unforgettable

My husband and I spent our 35th anniversary in this unique, relaxing, peaceful home. Enjoyed every minute, the host was easy to work with and quick to respond to any question we may have had. Orange Creek like a local

We really enjoyed our stay! Cat Island offers seclusion and relaxation and it’s a wonderful experience unlike anything you’ll find on the bigger islands. We were warmly welcomed by the neighbors and by Daisy and Debbie, who even showed us a conch salad recipe. If you know what to expect with the out islands, then I can’t recommend this place strongly enough. We can’t wait to come back!

Glamping on the Caribbean

Our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) had an experience of a lifetime at this very unique property. The beach is incredibly beautiful, and we spent almost all of our time there swimming, snorkeling, spearfishing, eating coconuts, kayaking, etc. If you like the outdoors and family time this is the place for you. The house is amazing. We also spent some time up the hill with Gabby and Frank at Shannas Cove. They provided us with some very nice dinners, as well as fishing and snorkeling trips. I highly recommend this destination but be warned, there is an element of roughing it similar to camping, or rather Glamping 😁

Paradise with Beautiful Accommodations

Jaqueline and Curtis were gracious hosts and allowed us to experience the most gorgeous place one can relax. The beach was secluded and had pink tones. The water was electric blue and sunsets were unreal. All the beaches were exceptional on the island. Cat Island is a friendly Island and a perfect place to relax. We found great Bakery's from Olive's and Elnor's place and always have great service from Danny King with the car rental. The 700 store is always helpful too! Great kayaks and paddle boards too. The accommodations included beautiful rain showers, a nice kitchen, a great outside grill, a huge outdoor deck space, and friendly assistance from Shawana, Jaqueline, and Curtis! This was the perfect vacation. Thanks again!

Great place to get away!

Jacquie and Curtis have a beautiful home and we were truly grateful for the accommodations. The sunsets from this house were the best in the world! This house is directly on a beautiful beach with paddle boards and kayaks. The locals are very friendly and the Rake and Scrape Music was amazing. Cat Island has many beautiful pink sand beaches and exploring around every turn! Danny King was a great help with the history and car rental. Cat Island is a special place and we would definitely stay here again!

The best place in the Bahamas for quiet family time.

My whole family and I are absolutely in love with the place and the owners. Fabulous location, great place for families with kids or couples looking for a perfect gateway. Jackie and Curtis are beyond awesome, they made us feel welcomed and made sure that we had everything we needed (and we were traveling with a toddler so it wasn’t easy). We will be back for sure.

We, Curtis and Jacqueline have been living on Cat Island since 2000. We fell in love with the island, and Shanna Bay in particular, the moment we saw it. We built three homes - one for ourselves and one each for our two sons. Since they now are busy with kids in school, they want their homes to be used and loved when they can't be there themselves. The very personal feeling of the beach house will make you feel as much at home as our sons do when they visit the island.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

We bought the property because we fell in love. We had looked and searched on other islands in the Bahamas, and even tried to buy property on Eluthera. Fortunately , we found this fabulous piece on Cat Island, and ended up attracting neighbours who built hotels and restaurants. And to top it all off, they were all nice!

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Curtis, who is an architect, saw the property on Cat Island as a fantastic place to build the ultimate weekend homes. That is how it started, but not as it ended up. We didn't want to leave the island, so we stayed, and our home became more and more permanent. The Beach house still has the feeling of the weekend place, but with all the features of a home. All the amenities you could wish for are there, in a cool and breezy beach setting
