Findochty Holiday Cottage - Cosy cottage with Private Garden and Sea View

The cottage is cosy and quirky, with a modern touch. With a stunning coastline and two beaches right on the doorstep, there are many walks and places to explore. Just 90 minutes drive from Inverness, Aberdeen and the Cairngorms you can experience the city, mountains and fantastic beaches all in one holiday! The dolphins are seen regularly during the summer and the cottage makes an excellent base for exploring the area - there is plenty to do from castles, golf, whisky distilleries, wildlife watching, or just simply building sandcastles! The cottage is the perfect place to escape and totally relax in this quiet village. Findochty (locally pronounced Finechty) oozes character. Wander around the higgly piggledy narrow streets with the many multi-coloured houses to appreciate the real charm of this traditional Scottish village. We love Findochty, we think you will too.

NB: Please note due to the quirky nature of the cottage it has a narrow staircase and is not suited to people with mobility issues.

The cottage was ideal for three adults and a dog and was perfectly situated in the village for lots of dog walks and evenings watching the sunset at the nearby beach

We love this village. Views and location to the coast are unbeatable. The property is set up with everything you need and has been so considerately set out for guests to have a home from home stay. And there’s a sea view! Wonderful stay and excellent hosts.

Lovely cottage

Everything you require for a smashing holiday, cottage fully equipped, signal strength patchy at times on phone and TV but was never to much of a problem. Nice little bay a stones throw away the village is great for walks although steep in places. Would fully recommend staying here....

Hi Stephen, we're glad you enjoyed your stay at Duke Street and found it well equipped. We hope that it's a home-from-home for our guests. Unfortunately, depending on your mobile network the phone signal isn't very good in the cottage (which I sometimes think is a good thing!). With the fast internet connection, wi-fi calling is available, or the telephone landline for incoming calls. Or it makes a really good excuse to go out for a walk to the nearby beaches or harbour! Many thanks for taking the time to write us a review and we hope you'll visit Findochty again sometime in the future.

Great well equipped cottage

We were very pleased with our stay at this cottage and enjoyed the location. Findochty is a historic fishing village. There was plenty to do. The icing on the cake for me was seeing the dolphins swimming out at sea.

What a lovely place, the cottage was so welcoming and the local coast line is an amazing place to explore. Claire was really helpful and so welcoming to us - I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Perfect accommodation

We were really happy with everything about the house. Immaculately clean, and well stocked. Would love to return. Lovely welcome pack. Can’t fault it.

Perfect

We had the best weekend stay in this perfect little house. Sparkly clean, comfy beds, well thought out and everything you could think of. We loved the little extras … bubbles, milk, shortbread and chocolate biscuits .. even a bowl, towel and trays for Louis the Frenchie . Thanks again Clare and Steve … can’t wait to come back.

This property is not for anyone with mobility problems to many stairs not what I would call dog friendly at all explained the problems to the owners and her respond was sorry to hear you have not enjoyed your holiday

We were indeed sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your stay at our cottage - we strive to ensure all of our guests have a great time and find it a home-from-home, and you are the first guest in our 12 years to tell us you haven’t been happy with it. Our cottage is a bit quirky and the narrow staircase and there not being an upstairs toilet are highlighted in our listing - it may not be suitable for everyone but we are always happy to answer any queries before guests book to ensure it meets their needs. We’re delighted to welcome dogs to stay but are unfortunately unable to fully enclose the garden - other guests have used the wheelie bins to block it off and haven’t found it an issue. We hope you managed to enjoy the area anyway and the beautiful sunshine we had last week. Wishing you all the best. Clare and Steve.

A wonderful exerience!

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche in dem gemütlichen und sehr gut ausgestatteten Haus. Das Meer ist tatschlich direkt vor der Haustür, Findochty ist ein schöner Ort und eine gute Basis um bei schönem Wetter die Gegend zu erkunden oder es sich bei Sturm & Regen im Haus gemütlich zu machen. Für uns ein Glücksfall! Absolut liebenswert war das Starterpaket mit Prosecco, Milch, Speck, Eiern, Brötchen und vielem mehr mit dem uns Clare & Steve überraschten. Gerne wieder!

Perfekt!

Schon die Begrüßung war außerordentlich: Sehr warmherzig und mit vielen kulinarischen Überraschungen. Das Haus war perfekt eingerichtet, sehr modern, dabei aber auch gemütlich. Uns haben noch mal besonders die vielen kleinen Details gefallen, die Duke Street Nr. 4 zu etwas ganz besonderem machen!

Lovely, cosy and we'll equipped cottage.

Had a lovely relaxing holiday in this cottage. Loved Findochty. Would return. View from garden to Moray Firth from top level.

Lovely cottage, excellent location

Cottage lovely! Everything you need for your stay is provided. A lot of thought has gone into making it a home from home. Outside space is great. Would definitely go back. Would recommend.

Perfect retreat

Fabulous place for a holiday. Everything you could need easy accessed. Property was brilliant. Welcome was impressive including welcome breakfast pack. Most enjoyable holiday in outstanding location. Top notch in every way.

Feines Häuschen am Meer

Wir haben unsere Woche sehr genossen. Das Häuschen war sehr sauber und mit allen Annehmlichkeiten ausgestattet, es gab sogar ein Frühstücks-Willkommenspaket. Viele Ausflugsziele in der näheren und weiteren Umgebung sind gut erreichbar.

June stay in Scotland

Loved the cottage and the village is just wonderful even the weather was kind for most of the time. You must try this one.

Cozy Cottage in a great location

Lovely little cottage which was very well equipped allowing us to create a real home from home. Fantastic location close to the beach and harbour and great access to walking/running and cycling routes.

Great cottage for a relaxing break

Lovely hosts who have a wonderful well equipped cosy cottage. The cottage is superbly located for an easy stroll to the secluded beach. Weather permitting, the cottage has a terraced area over two levels enabling you to sit out and have a meal or enjoy a sundowner on the top level whilst watching the sea. Going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the sea is the best. WiFi was super fast. A highly recommended cottage to get away from it all and simply chillax.

Hello! We relocated to north east Scotland over 17 years ago from Oxford, and love it! The great outdoors, scenery, people and wildlife have us totally hooked. Being able to see dolphins on your doorstep is a magic experience and makes us smile - no matter how many times we see them! We think other people will love this area as much as we do so have taken on two very run down properties and turned them into something special for other people to enjoy... You can't help but relax and chill out the minute you arrive in Findochty.

Findochty is a really picturesque village, with quaint harbour, colourful houses, good amenities and friendly locals. It's such a relaxing place to be you'll feel a million miles away from anywhere. The walks along the coast are wonderful as are the deserted sandy beaches. We love wrapping up on a blustery day to marvel at the huge waves and power of mother nature. We regularly see the dolphins and have been lucky enough to see minke whales along this stretch of coastline too. We also sometimes get to see the Northern Lights during the winter - now that's a real treat!
The nearby gannet colony is definitely worth a visit as is the Scottish Dolphin Centre, where you stand a good chance of seeing dolphins and the resident osprey.
Steve loves playing golf and we're lucky enough to be surrounded by golf courses - there are plenty to choose from for all abilities.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The cottage is really quirky and very cosy, even on the wildest of days. Wandering down to the beach first thing in the morning with a steaming mug of tea is the perfect start to the day. The small beach is ideal for a beach BBQ with plenty of picnic tables and a place for the BBQ, all whilst building sandcastles and having a paddle! The beach is ideal for launching kayaks from or a spot of wild swimming, and there are some ideal spots for a bit of fishing.
There is wi-fi in the cottage and we supply an excellent welcome pack so you don't have to venture far on your first day. Tesco and Asda both do home delivery - just order before you leave home!
We want our guests to feel at home from the minute they arrive and start enjoying the delights this fantastic area has to offer.
