Coldstream, Kelso, Melrose, Hawick, Galashiels & the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed are a short distance. Day trips to Edinburgh, the Coast, Holy Island & the Farne Islands are a must. Golf, horse riding & fishing are all close by. Floors Castle, Manderston, Mellerstain, Paxton & Thirlestane Castle are wonderful to visit. The Castle and Gardens of Alnwick are world famous. The 4 ruined Abbeys of Kelso, Melrose, Dryburgh & Jedburgh are full of history .It is also an ideal place for walking & bicycling. For those interested in wildlife, the River Tweed and countryside provide a wealth of birds, animals and fish.

Relaxing, secluded and lovely

A wonderful property on a really quiet little road. Close to plenty of walks and fantastic scenery. The family had a great time.

A lovely cottage

Babingtons Cottage is wonderful. A rambling single story cottage with plenty of room for large parties, two living areas with fireplaces, and a kitchen that seemingly has everything you could possibly need. Highly recommended!

Thank you for your very positive and pleasing review. The cottage is ideal for friends and family gatherings. The real fires in both lounges offers a special cosiness at this time of year along with the central heating too. Thank you for your recommendation.

Lovely cottage, great location

We had a really nice week at Babington's cottage. We had three generations, two kids/adults/grandparents, and the size and layout was perfect, and was particularly convenient for the less mobile grandparents. it was a great location, and we enjoyed day trips to Edinburgh, Alnwick Castle, Berwick, Floors Castle, and a particular favourite, Chillingham Castle. Lots of nice pubs around, and particularly enjoyed the breakfast special deal from the local butcher, which fed the whole family. Cottage was lovely and clean, and had fantastic views. Would love to visit again, and would definitely recommend to friends.

I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Babingtons Cottage and your trips to local landmarks. The cottage is in an idyllic rural location and still close enough for many day trips as you have done. I did not realise the local butcher did a 'special breakfast deal' and I will certainly recommend this to future guests. Thank you for your great review and hopefully you may return. Best wishes.

Babington cottage is perfect holiday home. Clean, exceptionally well equipped, home from home really

A great weekend with my children and small grandchildren and not forgetting the family dog. Lots of areas of interest to visit. The cottage is just perfect so cosy and comfortable you feel relaxed as soon as you go through the door. Definitely no hesitation in recommending this property

Amazing and peacfull

I have stayed for one month which was great time to spend in the nice border countryside and simple villages life. The cottage was nice and big enough for families and children with a big space of garden. I would recommend it for those who are looking for nature and quietness.

Babingtons Cottage is owned by Maggie Babington. This peaceful & tranquil holiday Cottage with stunning views has recently been upgraded and reflects Maggies passion for Art, Interior Design, History, Geology & Health. Born in Kelso Maggie spent many years in the Art world and running her own business. Her family over the centuries have had a rich history including some notable forbears. Originally from France the de Babingtons settled in Northumberland in the 12th Century. William Babington 1756 - 1833 an eminent Physician was President of the Geological Soceity in London. Babingtonite the stone was named after him. After a serious illness Maggie trained as an Energy Field Therapist, Chrystal Therapist, Animal healer & U.K Silva Method lecturer here and America. She practises in London and the Scottish Borders.

Babingtons Cottage has stunning views over the Cheviot and Lammermuir Hills. With the River Tweed a 10 minute walk at Tweed Mill and Coldstream 2.5 miles it is a superb location. The historic town of Berwick-on-Tweed and the Coast is 20 minutes with main line trains to London and Edinburgh. With Fishing, Golf, Riding, Walking and trips to the Farne Island it is the perfect place to spend a vacation.
The Scottish Borders which is stepped in History is a fascinating place to explore Stately Homes, Gardens, and the local Historic Towns. Day trips to Edinburgh are a must and exploring the Coast line and Holy Island are exciting days out.

Babingtons Cottage is a spacious and cosy Cottage. Lunches on the Patio looking out to the Cheviot Hills and the garden are extremely relaxing. The log fires in the evenings are the perfect end to wonderful days out. Double glazed throughout and a warm Kitchen with an Everhot Electric Range Cooker, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Fridge, Freezer and Microwave make the Cottage the perfect holiday place. Logs, Coal, Linen, Wired and Wireless Broadband and Oil Fired Central Heating are all provided. Ample parking is provided and well behaved pets are welcome.
The Cottage can either be rented for 2-4 people +sofa bed or 8 people + sofa bed.
Short Breaks can be arranged if available.
