Character Cottage In West Burton village, Wensleydale

Dale Cottage is a beautifully renovated two-bedroom character cottage in West Burton, Wensleydale - officially the best kept village in Richmondshire 2015! Superbly positioned next to West Burton's beautiful village green, Dale Cottage is the perfect base to enjoy your Wensleydale holiday and explore The Dales.

This tastefully-renovated stone cottage has two bedrooms, sleeping three people. The rooms retain much of the cottage's original character, including exposed beams and a cosy fireplace.

Keep cosy with the wood burning stove and underfloor heating. In the warmer months you can make use of the patio furniture in the secluded garden. Excellent walking and cycling straight from the cottage, with the stunning Cauldron Falls just a couple of minutes walk away.

The newly-renovated master bedroom sleeps two, with a single bed in the second bedroom. A travel cot is available on request. The kitchen is fully-equipped with all of the usual facilities. High-speed fiberoptic WiFi Internet, Xbox, TV, DVD and Bluetooth audio ensure that you're as comfortable as possible with everything you might expect at home.

At the back of the cottage is a patio area and shared use of the garden. Patio furniture is provided in the summer for you to enjoy the dales air and local produce. There's also a dry secure storage area for bikes and fishing tackle.

West Burton is the ideal location to base your Yorkshire Dales holiday. Fantastic walking, mountain biking and cycling is available straight from the cottage door. Aysgarth Falls and Castle Bolton are within easy walking distance across some of the most impressive scenery in The Dales.

The village itself has a country pub serving traditional ales and pub food. The village shop, tea room, butcher and craft shops ensure that you've got everything you need right on the doorstep. West Burton also has one of the largest village greens in England, including football nets and a fully-equipped children's play area. Having no through-road West Burton is very peaceful and very safe for children.

Its central Wensleydale location brings many of the Yorkshire tourist attractions within easy driving distance. These include the towns of Hawes and Leyburn as well as the Wensleydale Railway, Hardraw Force, Wensleydale Creamery, Wensleydale Brewery, Middleham Castle and the Forbidden Corner.

A perfect escape! Beautifully presented and with everything you could possibly need. A great base to explore the beauty of the Dales from, in a very picturesque village. Comfy sofas, comfy bed, fantastic shower and the added bonus of a wood burner for those cosy nights in.

Very comfortable

We enjoyed our stay here in West Burton. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. A great shower and very comfortable bed. The local pub is a short walk away and is very friendly and the food is good. A dryer would be an advantage but the clothes airer worked well. A convenient place to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

cosy cottage in a wonderful village and landscape

Everything was just as discribed on the website. The cottage is situated in a quiet and pitoresque village. The cottage was well equipped, even for our 14 year old son (x-box). We enjoyed the tranquility and the stunning landscape. Would have stayed longer if we could. We recommend the cottage without reservation. Looking forward to revisit the Yorkshire dales!

Fantastic

Dale Cottage is the perfect location in a charming village. It's a small 200-year old cottage with enough space for 3 people. The beds are comfy and the shower is excellent. The kitchen is small but very practical. The village itself is amazing, like a fairy tale, with beautiful houses, a pub, a village shop, lovely people and a vast choice of walking possibilities. The Dales are stunning and there,'s so much to see. We loved our stay and we will definitely be back. Thank you, Gareth and Lucy!

Lovely cottage in a great location.

The cottage is very comfortable and well appointed with good quality furnishings. It is warm and has under floor heating downstairs. The shower is great. Parking outside was never a problem as it is an end house and not further into the village. The village has a well-stocked shop with very helpful and friendly staff and good opening times. There is a butcher and a pub. Cauldron Falls is a walk around the corner. The walk from here to Morpeth Scar gives amazing views. It is in one of the guide books in the cottage. The owners are quick to respond to queries and very helpful. Overall excellent value for money and would recommend.

Très bon séjour

Ce petit cottage dans un village charmant a été notre nid durant cette semaine à la découverte des Yorkshire Dales. Il aurait été préférable que l’annonce mentionne que les toilettes sont au rez-de-chaussée alors que les chambres sont à l’étage.

Beautiful cottage in a pretty village with a waterfall close by.

Had a fabulous time as West Burton is close to everything. I stayed with my mum who is coming up to 80 years and she thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and quaint cottage. We didn't want for anything and happy to return 😊

Great stay

This cottage is in a lovely situation. Very handy for the pub and village shop. We mostly ate at the pub where the staff and locals were friendly. The shop lady also friendly and helpful. The cottage is fine for 2, the "dining area" would be a bit tight for three. The kitchen is well equipped and the fridge has a handy freezer compartment. The added shower room is large, bright, clean with a great shower. The bed is one of the comfiest we have ever found in a rental. From the cottage there is access to lots of great walks, some steeper than others! Altogether a great week.

Wonderful Stay

What a delightful small cottage in the wonderful village of West Burton. The owners obviously take great pride in their home in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales and we so enjoyed our short stay. The home provided everything we needed and the standard of cleanliness was exemplary. In such a beautiful home and location we enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing stay in our beloved Yorkshire after so many years. Thank you

Restorative 2 weeks in the Yorkshire Dales

Situated in a gorgeous village the cottage was the ideal location for our holiday. The cottage itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our holiday. The cottage was extremely well located for the bus stop for linear walks, the village shop and delicious evening pub meals whilst enjoying a view of the village green & coutryside

Lovely cottage in beautiful village

Wonderful location , close to many footpaths , village shop across the street with all the essentials and a pub , although we didn’t try the food , it looked very good! Cottage has everything you need and owners responsive , would definitely stay again!

3-Night Break

An excellent property in a lovely village. Whilst we should have been in Spain for this week, the wet weather didn't spoil our lovely short stay in this cozy, comfortable cottage. The property had everything we needed, with easy communication and check-in. The village is a lovely location, with small shop, good butchers, and a pub 105 paces from the cottage - but may be more coming home! We would certainly return

Excellent property in good location

The underfloor heating is a godsend on a snowy day. The property has all you need, is clean and comfortable, and is a short walk away from a proper pub serving good ale and food. Highly recommended.

Great little cottage

Spent a fantastic week in Dale Cottage. It has all the amenities you could want and to quote my family the best television we’ve ever had on holiday. There are lots of walks on the doorstep or a short drive away. Sadly we didn’t get to use the fire as it was too hot even on the grey days. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Short break

I wanted to get away for a long weekend, saw Dale Cottage online, booked it. As i have stayed in several villages in the area, I really wanted to stay in this village, the pub is great too. I had a fabulous stay, the weather was great too

Quaint and beautiful

The cottage was adorable and set in a sweet little village in the gorgeous Dales. It was clean and historically rustic. Would return in a heartbeat. The local people were also so friendly. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great property in a quiet village

Cozy cottage in a Dales village well-placed for a variety of walks. 15 minutes to Leyburn for shopping. Well-equipped kitchen (though visitors should be aware they need to bring everything they need beyond salt and pepper). The owner was very nice to deal with and everything was in order. Highly recommended!

West Burton a lovely spot

The property is fine we however were subjected to constant rain and cold and abandoned our holiday early.This is in no way a critique of the cottage just a moan about the weather for which there is no quick fix
