We absolutely loved our stay in this Riad. The owner called me before our stay and was extremely charming and made us feel like we were friends visiting their home. Aisha and Ahmoud looked after us during our stay at the Riad and were brilliant and equally as charming. Aisha's breakfast were marvellous. They were both so kind to us.The Riad is really well situated in the Medina. And is very charming. Breakfast on the quiet roof every morning was so relaxing. Many an evening was spent playing card games in either of the two salons or on the roof terrace. The wifi wasn't great as the walls were very thick but that made it all the more relaxing. We would definitely come here again and were sad to leave the place. Highly recommendable.

We had such a lovely stay at Dar Leila. Somehow we feel a little like part of the family, despite having never met the owners. Aicha the housekeeper and Abdaul the house guardian were so kind and welcoming, and the information pack was comprehensive and personal. The riad is lovely, just as described, and for the two days when the weather was good enough to eat breakfast on the terrace, that was a true privilege. Our two year old absolutely loved it too (but did need a lot of watching near the stairs!) The location is great - right in the medina, and close to the beach as well. We'd love to go back some time.

Absolutely loved our stay. Roof terrace was used daily, but also had a fire lit on a colder morning by Abdul. Having Aisha and Abdul there daily gave us the feeling of being looked after without feeling intrusive. Loved all the info supplied by the owners. Thank you so much.

Very satisfied with the quality of the stay and cleanliness ofthe riad, ideally placed and very quiet. we were very well received and had a great stay thanks to Emma and David, I highly recommend you go there.

We had a fantastic stay in this welcoming and centrally located Riad. We were welcomed by Abdul with mint tea, and had a delicious mealCooked for us by Aisha. Abdul even ran out to get us more harissa so we could take some home! The roof terrace is a lovely place to sit, and having breakfast included was a touch of luxury. Thanks for a great stay!

Fantastic stay

Beautiful Riad, perfect location - Emma and David were very helpful in the booking process, and Abdul with travel queries with buses etc. Aisha the maid was absolutely lovely. We could not have enjoyed it more and would recommend to anyone. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Right in the heart of the Old City

The location, staff, and owners were wonderful. On a cost basis you could not beat the place. The rooms were reasonably size and the roof top garden was a nice extra. Would we stay there again, yes! My only comment is that the water pressure was very low and generally some updates should be made to the place. Having said that, it is definitely worth the price and you could not have nicer owners.

Wonderful place.

Dar Leila was a perfect place to stay in Essaouira. Right in the middle of the medina and just minutes away from interesting restaurants, cafes and shops. So lovely just to get lost the first few times walking around knowing that you come to the town walls eventually and can easily find your way back. The riad itself was gorgeous. Homely and filled with everything we needed, even spare travel plugs and a decent wireless speaker for the iPod. Abdaul made the loveliest breakfasts each day (brilliant pancakes) on the terrace and was really helpful in showing us how to get to Carrefour (brush up on your French to give directions to the taxi drivers back! ) where we brought food for one evening meal. Snacks, bread and pastries easily available from stalls right outside the riad. We had some amazing meals out and can recommend the freshly made pasta at Silvestros (event though admittedly it felt a bit odd to come to Morocco and eat Italian food, but the wood-fired pizzas were truly amazing) and the incredible tagines at La Licorne. Sat on the terrace outside 'Mega Loft' one night listening to the live music and wished we'd had time in the trip to eat there too. Definitely just wander round and see what takes your fancy. Loads of little places. Didn't really drink out (wine in restaurants reasonable) but did try the delicious carrot juice on the menu in many of the cafes. Can't fault this place at all. We also went (party of six) to Les Jardins de Villa Maroc. Walk to the Villa Maroc just by the SW corner of the city walls and book there. Price includes minibus out, towels, pool and lovely bbq and salad lunch for about £22. Overall, we really really loved Essouira. If you're looking for a city which has loads of interesting museums and churches etc then this might be quiet for you. However, if you're into people-watching, soaking up the atmosphere and eating some really amazing food then this is the place for you! We are certainly planning on coming back and will be coming back to Dar Leila for sure.

Très bon emplacement

A deux ou entre amis , conforme aux photos . Très bon accueil des gérants. Terrasse à l’abri des regards et protégée du vent et des bruits de la médina . Une bonne adresse .

Essaouira

Location is fantastic - centre of everything but relatively quiet. Breakfast is nice but evening meal was gorgeous - nicest meal we had during our 2 week stay in Morocco. Rooms are comfortable. Massive terrace was great. Abdaul and Aicha we’re great hosts - very helpful and communication was good. There was a slight dampness throughput the riad that we didn’t notice in other riads that we stayed in.

A Family Holiday

We had a wonderful time, Aicha and Abdul were great with us and the breakfasts were good.. The riad was perfect for a family. It was not so good if you wanted to self cater as the kitchen and cooking utensils seemed rather 'tired', as did a lot of the decoration. The info needs updating -the hammam we hoped to use was closed down. Overall the riad was right for us.

Nice property well located

the property was nice and we slept well, nicely decorated and cosy downstairs if it was cold. My only niggle was the roof terrace, not enough sun beds for a 5 bed house and a bit economical on the cushions...could really do with a small kitchen area on terrace.

un très agréable riad pour des vacances en famille ou entre amis!

C'est un lieu chaleureux et très agréable pour passer un séjour entre amis, avec des enfants! Le caméléon de la maison a fait la joie des enfants! Le riad est très bien situé dans la médina et au calme!
