Our beautiful Northern Lights cottage is located only 30 minutes from Selfoss and 60 minutes from Reykjavik city. It is located in a beautiful nature in a peaceful place, with easy access to major touristic places in the South. No matter if you are relaxing or exploring, you will feel amazing enjoying the beautiful sunset during summer nights or the amazing Northern Lights during winter from the terrace.

10000000/10This was the ideal getaway! The cabin is so remote that hearing a car drive by is a rarity, and the setting is so serene. I came here to do a working-vacation and I couldn’t have asked for a better one! The WiFi was strong enough that I could remote work, including video calls and the dining room table also works as quite a lovely desk! At night, I could go into the hot tub, look up at the sky, and I saw the Northern Lights almost every night could not recommend this place enough!

This place was WONDERFUL! Rob was a great and very communicative host, too! The only thing to know when renting this place is that you need to travel quite a ways on gravel roads to get to the house. Be sure to drive carefully and watch out for potholes and lots of sheep. Beyond that, this was a perfect south coast home base. We loved it here. The hot and outdoor space were both great! Nice views and so very quiet and peaceful! We’d definitely stay here again.

Fantastic!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Robert and Thury’s cottage. Very cozy and fully kitted out with everything you need. Hot tub was a bonus. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a place off the beaten path.

northern lights in the pool

We had a wonderful vacation, the cottage is in a beautiful setting and it is wonderfully quiet. The cottage is equipped with everything you need and some basic groceries are also available. We really enjoyed our stay and were lucky enough to see the northern lights in the pool, so we hope to come back again.

The best of our vacation

My family and I stayed at three different VRBOs during our family vacation to Iceland and this home was everyone’s favorite. The game choices are perfect, the hot tub is amazing, and the outdoor shower was my favorite! The teenagers felt 100% comfortable too. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

Perfect home away from home

From the moment we arrived, our Hagi 2 cabin was a perfect retreat for our stay in Iceland. The home was well equipped with everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable. The location was shielded from the wind and beautifully private. There was even a washer/dryer! Robert was a terrific host and anticipated our every need. This is the perfect place from which to explore Iceland.

Serene and peaceful five star stay

Totally awesome experience. Well equipment kitchen with cast iron pans, nice outdoor space with full privacy and views, and quite spacious living area. Very responsive and informative host, also very helpful with additional questions unrelated to lodging (restaurants, local news, sites to visit etc) whenever needed. Clean facility, warmly furnished, comfortably able to spend longer time indoors when not out sightseeing! Particularly enjoyed the hot-tub and the living area which has large windows allowing natural light. Highly recommend!!

What a magical place! The cabin was even better than the listing, with so many places to relax and soak in the beauty of the area. We were met with fresh flowers in a large vase on the outdoor picnic table where we ate all of our meals. The outdoor shower was set to the perfect temperature and backed up to a field of wildflowers - just beautiful! While the outdoor spaces were lovely, the indoor spaces provided a very comfortable and homey place to relax in the evenings. Robert was amazing at getting back to us with answers to questions, and we found that everything in the house was in great condition. The cabin was about 20 minutes outside of Selfoss and our little KIA rental had no problems on the gravel road. The road was being worked on while we were there, but the road crew was very accommodating to us whenever we needed to get by. Selfoss has just about everything we needed - grocery stores, nice restaurants, and great bakeries. We traveled throughout the South and West of Iceland and this house provided us with a nice central location where we could do day trips to glaciers, waterfalls, beaches, hiking, museums, and great restaurants. We only wished we had stayed another day and not returned to Reykjavik for our last night. We hope that this cabin is available when we decide to return in the future.

Die Hütte ist schön, super ausgestattet und bietet mit dem Hot Tub vor der Tür auch etwas Luxus :) Die Kommunikation war schnell und unkompliziert, danke nochmal! Kleiner Nachteil: Man liegt etwas abseits von Geschäften und Sehenswürdigkeiten, was man beim dritten Mal Schotterstraße fahren merkt. Dafür hat man aber seine Ruhe!

Excellent!!!

Beautiful cabin in an even more beautiful setting. Close enough to shopping and scenery to see so much but far enough away from town to really feel relaxed. We really enjoyed the time we had there.... the hot tub... the well equipped kitchen... the serenity peace and quiet. Even caught a glimpse of the northern lights

good Location

We really enjoy our stay in this cabin. It is a dry and warm place. This might be really necessary in Iceland. Especially the homely atmosphere is to be highlighted. The equipment is good. For us was the highlight a hot outdoor pool. Since the owner also use this cabin it is in a good condition. The neighbors are sufficient far away. The location is a good start point to explore the south of Iceland. My assessment is recommendable.

Amazing and fun

We absolutely loved this place! The cutest house with a beautiful setting, and the perfect feel of home away from home. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen was just right, and the hot tub was the perfect place to relax after our day trips to the east, the west, the south and the central lands. Highly recommend and will be looking to stay again the next time we visit!

Ruhiges Fleckchen Erde

Das Objekt ist liebevoll eingerichtet und man hat alles was man braucht. Die Cabin ist sehr ruhig an einem See gelegen, man benötigt ca. 25 Minuten bis in die nächste Stadt Hella. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und möchten gerne wiederkommen.

Ideally Located Sweet Cottage

What an absolutely adorable cabin! Lovely decor with all of the amenities you could want. Hwy. 1 and Selfoss are easily accessible and the location puts you right in between the Golden Road and the South Coast. We were even treated to the Northern Lights on two of the nights we were there! Would definitely recommend.

The house is a beautiful and cosy family cottage. In this cottage you will enjoy beautiful nature and views over a lake and mountains. The house is well equipped with everything you need to have a plesant stay. We have two bedrooms, one with a good double bed (140cm) and the other with a bed for one (120 cm) and an upper bunk above it (90cm). In the living room there is also a sofa that can be changed into a double bed (140 cm). Our kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook your meals and outside we a new barbeque. Good bathroom with a shower.

This cottage is located near the town Hella and is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the south of Iceland such as the volcano Hekla, Seljalandsfoss, Landmannalaugar, the Golden Circle, Eyjafjallajökull, Þórsmörk and more.

Swimming Pool and hot tubs in Laugarland, are in only 6 minutes´ drive from the house.
Small store selling gas and food 7 minutes´ drive from the cottage.
A horse ranch nearby, where you can go and see Icelandic horses, as well as go on horseback riding.
Marked hiking routes close by.
Golf course in just a few minutes´ drive.
Supermarket, Pharmacy, gas station, bank, wine store and another swimming pool in Hella only 15 minutes´ drive from the cottage.
Selfoss in 25 minutes drive with a lot of restaurants, supermarkets and stores
