Lakeside Lodge - Luxury Destination in East Texas

Come relax at Lakeside Lodge at Hawkeye Hunting Club in the beautiful Piney Woods of East Texas. The 8 bedrooms are over-sized with 2 queen beds each and a large walk in shower, all on the main level. The large great room is equipped with plenty of seating, a two story stone fireplace and large bar. Upstairs is a game room with a pool table and poker tables. The kitchen is equipped with professional appliances. There is a conference room with more TV viewing space and large deck. Two lakes on the property are available for fishing and a swimming pool is across the lake, just a short walk away. Toledo Bend, one of the largest bass lakes in Texas, is only a 20 minute drive from the lodge. Additionally, we also offer (at an extra cost) 5-stand (clay) shooting and sporting clays. Antique shopping and other attractions are also available in the nearby town of Center, Texas.

This is the second time we've stayed at the Lakeside Lodge and again it was what we wanted and more. Plenty of bedrooms which are well set up and a fantastic gathering space. Kitchen is more than adequate and resources available make our stay very enjoyable. Sitting out on the deck looking over the water and listening to the sounds of nature just added to the experience.

Hit the Spot

This was a family gathering to include a Memorial for a recent passing of mother-grandmother-aunt from Shelby county, Texas. Great location for access to places and people we wanted to see. Facility met our needs with enough bedrooms/beds. Great Kitchen for group meals and gatherings (as kitchens can be). Able to use the 'conference' room to share pictures of recent family vacations with the group. Quiet for mornings on the deck for the early risers to enjoy peace, quiet, and beautiful scenery. Only issue with some was hit/miss of cell phone reception due to rural nature of Shelby county. But, for most of us, who cares! Go outside or toward town. Everyone agreed this was a fantastic site and met all our needs/desires for a gathering and beat any options of using a hotel or multiple smaller venues. Yes! We recommend this place.

Wonderful experience

Property was lovely, and the Lakeside Lodge accommodated our very large family wonderfully. Lots of different activities for all ages. Property was very clean, and management made the process very smooth.

Wonderful Place

Stayed July 16-18, 2021 Quite and peaceful A lot of room for everyone one Very honest owner And he goes extra miles for you. I’m saying that since my In-law forgot her wallet with cash inside and after we left the next day I called him and asked him to check it out, a few hours later he text me he found it and he mailed it to her. That is very impressive. By the way this is 2 nd time our family stayed at this property and planning to come back in 2022. Thank you so much, Travis. Chinh Nguyen

Beautiful get away!

We did have issues with bugs in the rooms and we would like more access to the pool but other than that it was pretty awesome. The kitchen and house are huge which was great for our large group. It was also nice that the bedrooms are set up like a hotel so it was easy for people to go to bed without being woken up if others wanted to stay up and play games in the main living areas.

What a wonderful place to spend time at!

A large group of friends spending time together, found the lakeside lodge to be perfect! Comfortable rooms, huge main house with all the needed amenities, lots of space and a great commercial grade kitchen and a spacious conference room attached. The manager (Travis) was attentive and very responsive before and during our stay. Thank you. Most of all, the location was very pretty and charming, a good combination of nature and quiet yet minutes from a town's comfort. Thank you Hawkeye Hunting Club. We'll be back!

Beautiful Lodge

If you're looking for a lodge or retreat center, this is a great option! Beautiful scenery. Great commercial kitchen. Large rooms. High ceilings. Very nice swimming pool. The fishing is even good on the lakes. Very responsive, too!

Perfect Getaway from the City

The property and home is well-maintained. We had a wonderful time here with our large family. We enjoyed biking, tennis, swimming, fishing and just relaxing. Plenty of room for our family of 32.

This is an awesome place for a large group. Our family love this place.

This place has more than we expected. A big kitchen, with open common areas. The rooms are bigger than what we expected and separate from the common areas, which is a plus, quiet. We like everything and have everything we need. Although it would be better if there is at least one extra roll of toilet paper in each restroom. And it would make the kids happy if we have our own swimming pool. I would recommend this place to a large group. Thank you for making our family re-union possible.

Great stay!

We had a wonderful time staying here. Everything was very clean and in great condition. We loved that the rooms are separate from the main building and have individual access. We had several families so it was nice to have our own rooms and privacy when we needed it. The rooms were very spacious with lots of closet space. We were able to use the paddle boats which was fun. One of the three boats at our lodge did have a leak but we used the other two. The communal pool was also nice. It is not large but nice and next to the other lake so it had a nice view. Everything on the property description was accurate and we have no complaints except that the wifi signal was not very good but you cant be surprised when you are in the middle of the woods. Everyone that we worked with was also very nice and helpful. We highly recommend this place.

Place is great for family reunion or simply to party with a group of friends!

We were a group of 20 people - family and friends. Each one of us enjoyed the place! Clean, vey spacious and well planned areas and bedrooms. Beautiful experience. Plenty to do as in shoot, hunt, swim, hike; so plan a couple days stay if you want to enjoy the place. Easy to book and management easy to communicate with and easy to work with through the booking and planning process. Kevin provided his personalized and guided service to our whole group before and through the skeet shooting activity. Very friendly. Certainly would love to go back again!

Beautiful accommodations

We ended up staying in the main lodge because lakeside was still being renovated. The location is nice and secluded, the newly renovated main lodge was very well done in a modern way yet still feels like a lodge. Travis was easy to contact and very accommodating. Great experience!

Weekend at Main Lodge in East Texas

My family (9 adults and 5 children aged 3-19 yrs) spent a long weekend at Hawkeye Hunting Club - Main Lodge recently. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a staff member who showed us around and answered our questions. He and another staff member were available when needed during our stay. They were both very friendly and knowledgeable. The setting for the lodge was simply beautiful with tall pine trees, green flora, and two lakes stocked with fish. The lodge itself had room and furniture for relaxing, playing board games/cards, watching TV, etc. Likewise the kitchen was large and well stocked with cooking utensils needed for preparing meals. The individual bedrooms were clean and furnished with comfortable beds, TVs, and individual bathrooms. We enjoyed the swimming pool located just outside the bedrooms as well as fishing in the lakes and playing several games of horseshoes! It was a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. The reason I can only give 4 stars is due to three issues that directly affected our stay - 1. The wifi was not strong enough for use on a laptop computer. One family member who works for an online university had to travel into Center, Tx and use the Ethernet connection at the city library for 2.5 hrs on Fri & Sat in order to do his job. I understand that the wifi system is being upgraded and will be operational in the near future. 2. There was a "boil water notice" for two of the three days we were at the lodge. This meant that we had to purchase a significant amount of bottled water and stay vigilant not to accidentally drink the tap water or make tea/coffee with it. 3. A gas line had bee cut somewhere close by, so we did not have use of the stove/oven in the lodge as it was a gas appliance. This was a tremendous problem since we needed to prepare meals for 14 people for three days and there are no restaurants on the property. The General Manager brought two small hot plates but they were not adequate for the size of the cooking pots so he did let us use the electric stove/oven in the lodge next door, but this meant we had to walk between the two lodges carrying hot food in large cooking utensils. While the lodge had no control over the water and gas issues, it would seem that they would have developed a "plan B" for dealing with unexpected problems that might come up. The staff members were apologetic and sympathetic. We would like to return next year but will have to be assured that these issues have been resolved.
