Il Poderino farmhouse, a cottage dating back to 1825 that has been tastefully renovated with an emphasis on preserving as many of the original materials as possible, is located in the countryside of Chianni, a small medieval village in the heart of Tuscany between Pisa (43 km) and Volterra (30 km), as well as 6 km from the Casciana Thermal Baths.
The tastefully furnished rooms, each unique in its own way and decorated in Tuscan style, are arranged as follows: “Margherita,” a quadruple room with bunk beds; and two double rooms, “Rosa” and “Girasole,” which share the same entrance on the first floor. Also on the first floor, via a separate entrance, are three rooms: a triple room, “Basilico,” and two double rooms, “Salvia” and “Rosmarino,” each with an anteroom featuring a sofa.
On the ground floor is the Alloro apartment, with wheelchair-accessible entry, consisting of a bedroom, a living room, and a 26-square-meter kitchen equipped with dishes for the entire group, an electric oven, a 217-liter refrigerator, a microwave, a blender, and a toaster; a yogurt maker is available upon request, along with tables, chairs, and an outdoor barbecue with a gazebo.
Each room has a private bathroom and unobstructed panoramic views in every direction, featuring picturesque hilly landscapes covered mostly by olive groves and farmland; in the distance, you can see the woods and even Volterra.
There are many places to enjoy carefree and fun moments together:
a spacious loggia with tables and chairs near a wood-fired oven for baking bread and pizza or preparing delicious meat dishes;
a spacious, fully open-concept living room with barrel vaults—once used for wine storage—where you’ll find dining tables, a lounge area with a TV, Wi-Fi (included in the price: 50 GB per week), a ping-pong table, and foosball for both adults and children;
an infinity-edge pool* that is completely sun-drenched but equipped with a gazebo for cool respite and entirely surrounded by a breathtaking panorama that shifts through natural colors throughout the year—green, red, yellow, bronze, and ash gray.
Il Poderino is located in a strategic spot—a perfectly situated starting point, close to the main routes leading to the beautiful art cities of Tuscany: Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano, Florence, Lucca, and many others.
Choosing to stay at our agritourism means you can decide to enjoy the relaxation of the real countryside—perhaps by taking a dip in our pool, which is almost always gently breezy—or quickly head to the sea, about half an hour away, or visit the famous nearby cities of art as well as the charming and picturesque villages in the surrounding area, such as Chianni, a medieval village with nature trails (such as the Ghiaccioni), Terricciola with its wineries, Lari with its beautiful Castello dei Vicari, Casciana Terme with its wellness trail and more, Pontedera with its Piaggio Museum, Laiatico—the hometown of tenor Bocelli—with its Teatro del Silenzio, which he designed, the most unique amphitheater in Italy, Calci, a magnificent Baroque village with its Certosa monastery; Ghizzano, a colorful Tuscan village; Palaia, etc.—perhaps exploring them by bike or on foot.
*The pool is open from May through September and October, depending on weather conditions; always check with the property owner in advance. It is subject to legal regulations regarding daily opening hours and nighttime closure.
Please note that a small living space inside the farmhouse is occupied by my son and me; I handle the daily upkeep but remain discreet and do not intrude on the outdoor areas of the garden, which are entirely at your disposal.
Electricity costs are included up to 100.00 kW per week; any additional usage is to be paid on site.
You may purchase our extra virgin olive oil and vegetables from the garden.
