Situated between Volcan Poas and Braulio Carrillo National Park, just 40 miles north of San Jose and 20 miles before La Selva Biological Station, this elegant home is ideally located as a base camp for your Costa Rican birding tours. Our modern Eco friendly forest home is super clean, spacious and it comes equipped with washer and dryer. Located in a friendly small town.

If you are interested in seclusion, relaxation, and natural beauty, then this spacious, unique house is for you!

Come see where the comforts of a home meet unspoiled nature.

From venturing out and being one with nature, to letting nature come to you while relaxing on the wraparound patio, this place has it all for the eco enthusiast.

If you need help coordinating a taxi pick up from the SJO airport budget $90 each way. Local cab service from the house to San Miguel cost $3. . Local activities in the area are affordable and fun. From San Miguel you can go via public bus or taxi. The area is great for activities such as river rafting, coffee tour, hiking and bird watching.

The house and the gardens are amazing! The large patios enabled us to enjoy being outside in spite of some rainy weather. We saw lots of beautiful birds.The neighbors were so friendly. We didn't have a car but one of them drove a taxi so it was easy to get to town, and another, Yadi, delivered delicious home cooked meals. It was a delightful experience!

This stay was a wonderful experience! We spent Christmas at Gloria's house and it was perfect. The house and grounds are beautiful, with a gorgeous view. We enjoyed the well-maintained trail down to the river from the house, and visited the Blue Falls - highly recommend for those able to manage some stairs and elevation. We had a couple dinners cooked by the neighbors and they were delicious. Yadi and her family are very kind, and invited the kids to see their newborn calf. We enjoyed listening to the monkeys and watching the toucans and hummingbirds. Highly recommend!

Most relaxing vacay ever!

This home is a perfect retreat when you need rest. The outdoor spaces are perfect to watch birds, hear monkeys, experience the vegetation and enjoy fresh lemons and coconuts! We only left to attend a wedding otherwise we simply enjoyed the home and the rain forest.

Wildlife Haven!!

Such a perfect, clean, and private location that suited our family's needs. We walked the trail to the river several times during the day and night to observe the wildlife and photographed so many birds, insects, reptiles, and amphibians. We could have spent the entire week here!

Beautiful home, beautiful setting

My family of 5 loved this home! We stayed just two nights after staying near Manuel Antonio and then La Fortuna so we could visit the Blue Falls and have a short drive back to SJO - and then wished we could stay longer. The home is very well stocked, has several cute sitting areas, and is perfect for bird watchers. We really enjoyed a dinner in that the neighbor prepared for us. Our stay definitely exceeded our expectations!

A wonderful, unique place to stay

We absolutely loved this house, grounds, and location. The owner has thought of all the little things that make a house feel like a home. The huge outdoor porches with comfortable tables and chairs while looking at the Poas Volcano in the distance is a dream come true. Howler monkeys talked to us every day and the bird life surrounded the entire area. We really did wake to Toucans and Monkeys. If you want a place to stay that youā€™ll always want to come back to then this is it. Owner Gloria goes above all expectations to make this both comfortable and unique. Wish we could give it 10 stars.

This place is exotic! 6 of us stayed here with plenty of space. The first day some of our group was ill and so we stayed in most of the day. It still felt like an exotic vacation. The views of the jungle, the wild life, and the plants are amazing on this property. We loved how much character the property and house has! The beds were so comfortable. The house had everything we needed. Gloria was so responsive and helpful. There is so much to do once we left the property. The neighbors are so nice! The local places to eat and close grocery stores were perfect. This place is next level! Our family travels often and I would recommend this place to everyone! Price was perfect!

Perfect Family Vacation!

My family of five stayed in Gloria's beautiful home for 7 days. She is the perfect host! She provided us with information for different things to do, where to eat etc. Everything was within an hour a way from the house. The location of this house is wonderful. It's away from the city and you feel like you are in your own paradise. The house itself is gorgeous. Gloria definitely made sure that we enjoyed our time in Costa Rica. My girls did not want to leave - thank you Gloria!!

I have stayed at a lot of VRBO properties and this is by far one of the most unique & amazing. Very clean & comfortable. There are a lot of areas to spread out & enjoy your stay. My favorite was the raised deck above the parking area. Very Clean. Well appointed. Easy to codes & key for access & security. The host, Gloria was amazing, friendly, professional, responsive, & extremely helpful. The delivered local foods were unexpected & very very thoughtful. If you are reading reviews trying to decide whether to stay here or not, book it, you will not be disappointed.

Another day in Paradise

Our stay exceeded our expectations and was the best part of our trip to Costa Rica. Our hostess, Gloria, was amazing. She communicated in a prompt and caring manner to any questions. We were greeted by the wonderful neighbors upon arrival. Warm empanadas when we arrived, breakfast prepared at our house the next morning and dinner with amazing neighbors. I truly felt like I had landed in Heaven. We will return and absolutely appreciate the opportunity to experience a piece of Heaven on earth! The best place we have ever stayed! Everything you need and more!. Relaxing, hiking trails, rivers, monkeys, toucans, and many more beautiful birds to watch. The property is absolutely stunning. The home was exactly as stated and more. The pictures can not do it justice. Gloria, the host, was equally awesome. She goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO properties and this was the best experience and communication ever! The meals prepared for us were a real treat. Already planning our next trip there. Would not stay anyway else in Costa Rica!!!

Unbelievably Amazing

We were beyond please with this place, we spent two and half weeks here on and off, the beauty and abundance of nature contrasted with the beauty of the town, people and service went beyond our expectations, by far our favorite place so far in our yearly vacations to mi Tierra... we are so grateful of the existence of this place and the people who made our trip so wonderful with their sweet hospitality , truly heaven in tiquicia. Thank you again for everything. Stuff to check out the mi cafecito place, with itā€™s top typical Costa Rican food and amazing service, the small river after the rio sarapiquĆ­ was an amazing experience for all the three of our children ( 12 months, 5 year old and 8 year old), the day trip to the waterfall and then to the serpentario in La Virgen, the food there also delicious, also the pizza spot in that same town, off the chain... we hope we will be able to come again soon.

I've been having the best experience of my life here in this beautiful paradise. To start, Mrs. Gloria is a lovely person who is always attentive to our needs. She answers all my questions promptly and is super friendly. Yadi and his family are incredibly kind and their breakfasts and meals are delicious, especially the rice pudding. I haven't enjoyed meals this much in years, I absolutely loved them. Manuel and his family are also very loving people, making us feel like a part of their family. Their cheeses and cow's milk are spectacular. Gloria's house is so peaceful with the most beautiful views we've ever seen. The toucans, monkeys, and the variety of bird species make it feel like a place out of this world. The waterfalls and views are the best. Unique home, beautiful property, great for nature lovers!

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) stayed in this home for 4 nights. It was easy to find with GPS coordinates provided by the owner, Gloria. Communications with Gloria were excellent - from the welcome emails prior to our arrival to checking in with us to ensure we'd settled in. The house is spacious and well-stocked with housewares and some basic cooking supplies (oils, herbs and spices,etc). The grounds are beautiful with all manner of plants, some fruit trees, and even pineapples growing in various spots on the grounds. Birders will love the wide variety of bird species that can be seen right from the patio - we also saw an agouti (large rodent) walk through the garden daily. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a short drive away, and a couple of the waterfalls can be visited from the main road, without entering the gardens. The views from the road are spectacular as well. I would advise arriving during daylight hours as clouds/fog can take over the road at higher elevations making driving difficult. Highly recommend this home for a relaxing stay and a home base for day trips to the various local attractions/activities. We would definitely consider a repeat stay if we return to the area in the future.

Amazing!

My spouse and I stayed in this rental for 6 nights in April of 2016. We had done extensive internet searches for places to stay in the area and finally decided on this one. The owner. Gloria was most helpful in providing directions and recommending things to do in the area. The photos really don't do the house justice. It's such a beautiful and relaxing space that we really had to tear ourselves away to go on daytime adventures. We managed to so however, and visited the Nature Pavilion in La Virgen, La Selva Biological Station, and Poas Volcano, all easy day trips from the house. We were concerned at first that it would be too hot to sleep comfortably without air conditioning, but despite hot temps during the day, the air cooled nicely in the evenings and we were perfectly comfortable. We heard, but did not see Howler Monkeys every day. The bird life around the yard was amazing and we added many birds to our life lists. We especially enjoyed the Oropendolas and Parrots. Gloria recommended the Montana Restaurant just a few kilometers away. We had lunch there and was amazingly good. We hope to visit again one day. Gracias, Gloria!

Fabuleux

Magnifique maison avec de trĆØs grands espaces, un environnement extĆ©rieur exceptionnel. La maison dispose de beaucoup d'Ć©quipements, rien ne manque. Une decoration interieure superbe. Nous avons pu observer des animaux, beaucoup d'oiseaux dont les toucans. Gloria a su rĆ©pondre trĆØs rapidement Ć  toutes nos questions. Ce gĆ®te fait parti de nos plus belles locations merci Gloria
