In the 17th century, the only freshwater point between the sea and the plateau du Bois du Breuil watered the cattle of a farmer.
The hungry wolves did not hesitate to descend from their dens to come and feed themselves there and quench their thirst.
This pool then took its nickname "Mare aux Loups".
In 1652, in order to keep the flocks alive, the first building was built. The estate inherited the name "La Mare aux Loups".
Throughout the 18th century, this farm developed. The growing insecurity, from brigandism to conflicts, property, to defend itself, had towers at each end. What was later called "fortified farms".
The years passed, the owners also. Today, the south tower is reserved for the dwelling.
Located in an exceptional and quiet protected site, two minutes from a wild beach with fine sand and a magnificent forest (without wolf) with innumerable varieties of trees. Lovely holiday in super gite minutes from Honfleur

Excellent accommodation in a lovely setting just a few minutes drive from Honfleur. Parking available at the property. Convenient for relaxing by the port, or walking on the quiet beach which was just a few minutes walk away. We loved this gite which was perfect for our needs, light and airy, whilst surrounded by beautiful trees. Charming hosts. Cant wait to return. Ann and Richard.

Déçue

Nous nous attendions à un lieu beaucoup plus agréable. La maison n’était pas très propre, notamment la vaisselle, les sanitaires, les poubelles et le sol du séjour. Odeurs d’égouts persistantes ce qui est fort désagréable. Hôtes pas très aimables.

nous sommes très étonnés de vos commentaires. cette habitation a été refait à neuf, dans le respect de l'architecture normande et de la réglementation en vigueur. la femme de ménage, professionnelle de son métier, est très consciencieuse. la TOUR a obtenu le certificat d'excellence LLC , confirmé par tous les visiteurs clients. Nous vous conseillons pour vos prochaines vacances DEAUVILLE plus urbanisé. PS lors de l'utilisation des toilettes, utilisez la ventilation électrique réservé à cet effet. bien à vous

Schmuckstück mit direktem Zugang zum Strand

Wir waren alle drei von dieser außergewöhnlichen Unterkunft begeistert. Sie bietet ein tolles Ambiente in ruhiger Umgebung. Die Nähe zum menschenleeren Strand war für uns perfekt. Ein schnelleres Wlan wäre wünschenswert um Aktivitäten vor Ort besser planen zu können. Monika und Erik waren sehr angenehme, nette Gastgeber. La Mare aux Loups ist auf jeden Fall eine Reise Wert.

Magnifique semaine au calme

Nous avons passé une magnifique semaine à la Tour. Endroit tres paisible et pourtant tres proche des lieux à visiter sur la côte normande. Le logement et ses extérieurs sont magnifiques et fidèles à l annonce. Merci a Erick et Monica pour l accueil. Nous serons heureux de revenir à Pennedepie.

Märchenhaft schön

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt, mit Tränen im Auge und Herzschmerz bei der Abfahrt. Der Turm ist ein liebevoll gestalteter, geschmackvoll und hochwertig eingerichteter und bemerkenswerter Wohnbereich auf dem Anwesen. Hier mischen sich historische Bauelemente mit modernem Komfort. Selbst zwei Regentage ließen sich dort angenehmst verbringen. Das Anwesen liegt fantastisch und ist malerisch. Der Strand ist keine 2 Minuten entfernt und lädt ein zu Spaziergängen und Andacht beim Blick ins Weite. Die nähere Umgebung ist mit Honfleur (dieses Städtchen ist es Wert mehrfach besucht zu werden), Deauville und den Badestränden sehr reizvoll. Die Gegend ist voller architektonischer Pracht. Die Gastgeber sind sehr höflich, hilfsbereit und angenehm. Die Sehnsucht hierher zurück zukommen ist schon nach einem Tag groß.

L’emplacement du logement est remarquable. A quelques mètres de la plage et à quelques minutes à peine de Honfleur. L’hébergement est très authentique et plein de charme. Nous ne pouvons que recommander.

Normandie authentique

Authentische Ferien in der Normandie? Natürlich im «La Mare aux Loups»! Das wunderschön romantische Häuschen in typischer Fachwerk Bauweise. Geschmackvoll, mit allen notwendigen Möbeln und Accessoires für einen gemütlichen Aufenthalt ausgestattet (inclusive Besucher Kater Caramel, welcher für die charmanten Streicheleinheiten sorgt). Gelegen in der sanft zum Meer abfallenden Parklandschaft, bevölkert von weissen Kühen, welche die feine Milch für die wunderbaren Käse liefern und besungen von vielen Vögeln (Amsel, Drossel, Fink und Star…). Zum Meer: Ein kurzer Spaziergang, gesäumt von Brombeersträuchern, …mhhh... umgaukelt von vielen, bunten Schmetterlingen, wie Tagpfauenauge und Admiral. Die sehr charmanten und hilfsbereiten Vermieter Monika und Erick eilen sogar am Samstagmorgen um 8 Uhr zu Hilfe, wenn das vollbeladene Auto nicht nach Hause will. Erick hat uns gar zu seinem Garagisten begleitet und auf charmante Art den Mann der Wahl im nächsten Dorf zur superschnellen Hilfe angespornt. Wunderbar, was man alles in kurzer Distanz besuchen kann: Die Steilküste von Étretat, die faszinierenden «Jardins suspendus» in Le Havre, gebildet aus einem verlassenen Fort im Vauban Stil mit wunderbarer Aussicht auf die Seinemündung, der wunderbare Garten des Pays d’Auge (Noppe), Deauville, Trouville mit der Möglichkeit die frischesten Meeresfrüchte direkt an der Markthalle zu degustieren oder wunderbare Seezungen von einer Fischerin an der Pier zu kaufen und sich von der charmanten Lehrerin aus Paris, die beste Zubereitung erklären zu lassen. Das Vogelschutzgebiet Baie de Sallenelles ist auch eine Wanderung wert. Mit etwas Glück kann man sogar Seehunde sehen. Bereits die Fahrt dorthin, durch die schmucken Ortschaften, ist eine Augenweide. Wenn man Lust hat auf ein bisschen verrückte Kunst, ist das Musée Satie in Honfleur der richtige Ort. In einem Nachbarhaus ist auch das sehenswerte Musée Boudin untergebracht. Keine Lust zu kochen? Direkt in der Fischhandlung in Honfleur gibt es frischest gekochte Hummer, in der La Chaumière kann man herrlich über dem Meer brunchen, die La Ferme Saint Simeon bietet Sterneküche in stilvoller Umgebung, dazu unzählige kleine Restaurants, welche wunderbares Essen servieren. Shopping: Die Dame, die noch nicht genügend Schuhe besitzt, wird vielleicht im neuen Outlet in Honfleur fündig? Haben wir Lust gemacht, bitte schnell reservieren, sonst ist es wieder besetzt!

Erholung pur!

Wir hatten einen traumhaftem und sehr erholsamen Aufenthalt in diesem wunderschönen Häuschen. Erick und Monika sind sehr herzliche Gastgeber und es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Das Grundstück, der einsame Strand, der schöne Wald und die Gegend sind ein Traum. Wir können diesen Ort sofort weiter empfehlen und wir kommen gerne wieder. Merci beaucoup à Erick et Monika

Leuk onderdeel van een huis vlakbij het strand

De woning was heel anders dan de foto's en de tekst beschreven. Het is géén vrijstaand huis en de prachtige tuin die getoond wordt is niet toegankelijk voor de huurders. Het privé tuintje bij de woning is omgeven door een hoge haag die het uitzicht beneemt en ligt grotendeels in de schaduw. Het strand is wel dichtbij maar niet zichtbaar vanuit de woning en het is een kleine 5 minuten lopen. De woning is schoon en ruim en prettig ingericht. Goede grote bedden. Er is geen bedlinnen beschikbaar en er zijn ook geen handdoeken in de badkamer. De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding viel ons wat tegen vergeleken met andere gebieden in Frankrijk.

First of all I’m wondering how you can say that the house is very different from the pictures and the description. - The last guests just before you said, that « it is exactly like the photos on the web side », when they entered into the house. The only difference the hedge from the terrace has grown in the meanwhile. This hedge is for you privacy on your private terrace and as I mentioned upon your arrival you could use the upper garden, so once again I cannot understand how you can say that the garden is not accessible for the guests. - In the ad is mentioned that the garden is to share, this means already that it is not an individual house, you can also see on the pictures that it is not and individual house. Linen and towels are not included is also mentioned in the ad. The beach is at 3 minutes walk an it is mentioned nowhere in the ad that there is a sea view from the house. Before booking somewhere, read well the ad, instead of leaving unjustified appreciation.

Liebevoll eingerichtetes, gut ausgestattetes und sehr schön gelegenes Ferienhaus mit lauschiger Terrasse. Der einsame Strand ist fußläufig in zwei Minuten erreichbar, drumherum tolle Natur und top Lage für Ausflüge, um die Gegend zu erkunden. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und freundlich. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Romantisches Domizil auf traumhaftem Grund

Wunderschönes idyllisches Anwesen auf parkähnlichem Grundstück, jeglicher Komfort, reizende Vermieter. Ein perfektes Hydeaway in malerischer Umgebung, zum endlosen Strand ein Katzensprung, tolle Lage nahe Honfleur und Deauville/ Trouville. Vielen Dank für einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt!

Lovely gite in a wonderful location.

This lovely gite is situated just a few minutes drive along the Normandie coast from Honfleur. Surrounded by woodland and an abundance of wildlife, but just a short walk from a secluded beach, we loved its tranquillity but were also able to enjoy all that the famous port of Honfleur has to offer. Close to all local amenities it is impossible to find one single negative about the accommodation on offer. No hesitation to recommend and we cannot wait to return. Ann and Richard September 2019

Wunderschönes Haus an einsamem Strand

Die deutsch- englisch und französisch sprachigen sehr freundliche Vermieterin hat uns empfangen und unkompliziert ins Haus eingewiesen. Das Haus ist wunderschön gelegen und ruhig. Zum Strand nur ein paar 100 m, dieser ist einsam und natürlich unberührt. In der Umgebung tolle Ausflugsmöglichkeiten. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden wiederkommen!

Wonderful peaceful house, well located for sandy beach and sightseeing

The owners were quick, efficient and friendly in their communications. The house is in very pretty grounds, surrounded by trees, grass and flowers. It is a few minutes walk from a beach (no facilities but it’s near home) where you can swim at high tide and play on the sand. There were never more than a couple of other people on the beach as it is only accessible to locals or walkers. It is a few mins drive to a supermarket and boulangerie (Equemauville) and Honfleur. We also visited Livarot, Pont L’Eveque, Camembert (see a theme?), Bayeux and Trouville beach (recommended if you prefer a busier beach with facilities). All these were within easy reach. The house was spotlessly clean and well furnished with indoor and outdoor furniture. We had all the kitchen equipment we needed. The beds can be made up as a double and a twin or two doubles.
