Modern family farmhouse with pool 'La Garenterie'

La Garenterie is situated in rural Calvados, France. Surrounded by fields it feels a world away from anywhere even though a ten-minute drive will take you to the best local patisserie, boulangerie and boucherie! The rich landscape is ever changing from the Spring apple blossom and summer corn fields to the deep fluffy snow of winter. We have an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep including red squirrels, Hare, Rabbits, Badgers, Deer, Owls, Hawks, Buzzard and Bats. It is incredibly calm and peaceful so ideal for families, couples or friends. The house is well situated for many of Normandies historical places of interest, towns and beautiful coast line. There’s so much to do here that most families return over and over again.

The Gite is bright and airy with lots of space for a large family, friends and kids to explore. We have 3 large double bedrooms and there are 2 small singles for younger children. We can cater for babies, toddlers and teens with everything from travel cots and black out blinds to Netflix and Wifi! The private above ground pool is available for all bookings between June and 1st September.

We live in the barn adjoining the house but will only be seen if you need us! Your space is private and we respect that, however we are always on hand if you need anything.

There are so many places to visit it’s impossible to name them all!
The pretty market town of Vire is only a 15 minute drive away where you will find the closest supermarkets, boulangerie, patisserie, bars and cafes, all surrounding the beautiful castle remains.

The D day landing beaches and coastal resorts such as Granville and Carrolles (amazing rock pooling for kids) are just over an hour away.

Bayeux, Mont Saint Michael, Caen and Bagnoles de L’Orne are also within an hour’s drive.

If you want to explore beautiful scenery then the area of Suisse Normand is only 40 minutes away. Hire a Kayak on the river or climb the rock face in Clécy following a stroll along the river.

Locally we have beautiful Mont Cerissy Belle Etoille, Fosse Arthour and the waterfalls of Mortain. The Viaduc de Souleuvre is only half an hour away offering beautiful scenery, walking, climbing in the trees and sensory park for children along with adrenaline activities like bungy and forest swings!

The Zoo de Jurques is amazing set within a huge forest and is a great family day out.
