At the end of your day's adventures, there is no better way to unwind than sitting around a campfire relaxing and listening to the waves hit the beach while watching the sun go down. Amazing location. Amazing house. Get ready for your amazing vacation!

You won't find a better place to vacation than Northern Wisconsin! Spend the day walking the areas many beaches searching for agates. Go hiking to nearby waterfalls. Charter a fishing trip on the big lake or wade out into the lake and cast for bass and panfish. Take a ferry to Madeline Island and rent bikes to explore the beautiful parks and beaches. Vineyards. Apple orchards. Kayak adventures through the sea caves. Candy shops, coffee shops, quaint restaurants. You may have to stay an extra day to fit it all in!

-The house has a ramped entry, but bathroom has regular toilet with no grab bars, non accessible shower.

***Please note that this rental is located at Mission Springs Resort in Ashland, Wisconsin. It is a 3.5 acre property with two 1 bedroom cottages, three 2 bedroom cottages, and one 4 bedroom house— all nicely spaced out from one another. The property has two private beaches on-site. Each rental has it’s own private outdoor sitting area with a picnic table, fire pit (firewood provided) and charcoal grill. You will be able to see the other cottages from yours and you will be sharing the beaches with the other guests, but you will not be sharing a picnic table, fire pit, or grill with other guests.

This was by far one of the best places we’ve stayed at! Communication was excellent. Cleanliness was top rated, kitchen included everything you need for large groups and plenty of dishes, pots and pans to accommodate. Also clean linens, towels and a large selection of beach towels. We appreciated everything about this VRBO.

Lake house

We really enjoyed our stay. The home was beautiful and very clean. All of our needs were met. It was well-stocked. We loved the fire pit and local ice cream! We would stay again! Convenient location and very nice property.

Wonderful! Highly recommended

The house was clean, bright and updated. Perfect location for exploring the Ashland / Washburn / Bayfield area. Property manager very easy to get a hold of. Kids loved the swimming area. We have already booked our return trip.

Bright, Clean, Spacious

Excellent location, close to many quaint towns, shops, activities. Super clean and appointed with guests in mind, free of clutter. Lots of room and would easily accommodate a group of 10. The price is right and we will definitely come back next winter. Deb

Perfect Getaway

This home was better than advertised from the cleanliness of the home, to the beautiful, well stocked kitchen, great space for 13 family members to enjoy, and a backyard that we enjoyed each night with a bonfire and s’mores. The location was ideal with no more than a 15-20 min drive to Bayfield and Washburn. The only suggestion I have would be to bring your own stakes for the bonfire. We would love to return to see this place in the fall!

Lovely property right on beautiful Lake Superior

This was an annual trip to visit with my brother and family in Ashland. My family has grown to a number where we no longer are able to stay with my brother. I saw this property on line and it looked ideal. It was perfect! The lake home is beautiful and spacious right on Lake Superior. We loved the property! The house was clean, a well equipped kitchen, roomy bedrooms and living space. It really has everything you might need for an ideal vacation getaway. We will definitely be back!

Huge beautifully renovated home!

This home was the perfect size for our group of 10. The kitchen was open and roomy for all our cooking needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The only negative if you could call it that is we didn’t realize it was part of a resort. We believed we were renting a private lake home, not a shared beach and other common areas. That being said the owners are amazing and responsive to your every need. The location worked well for our fishing and island exploring. We made some great memories there!!

House was in great condition - very clean. Bedrooms and bathrooms fit our needs. Everything worked in kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry. AC kept house temp comfortable. We found plenty of wood for our outdoor needs. Beaches were a minor disappointment. I visualized them being bigger from the online pictures. Luckily no one else was using them when my grandkids were down there on Fri & Sat or it would have been crowded. All in all, everyone in our party enjoyed our stay.

My entire family loved the time we spent at Mission Springs, a clean and lovely vacation property.

This house easily accommodated all our needs. There was nothing negative about it, since it was clean, very well appointed, with an open, spacious interior design. We particularly enjoyed the two beaches where our grandchildren climbed, swam, wadded in the water, played in the sand and skipped rocks. We also enjoyed gathering around the fire cauldron in the evenings for marshmallow roasting and family conversation and banter. Frisbee and ball playing took place in the ample grassy area around the property. We are very appreciative of the opportunity to stay at such a wonderful place. In addition, the sightseeing in Bayfield and Ashland were a real treat. I enjoyed the space so much that I was reluctant to leave when it was time to go

Immaculate house, charming site and attentive hosts

The Lake House was wonderful. We celebrated our parents 40th wedding anniversary. There were three couples, one adult, and two children. This house was spacious and well laid out so that and everyone was comfortable. The house is immaculate. Beautifully decorated yet comfortable and the kitchen was fun to cook in. What is not shown in the pictures was is a hidden gem, an upstairs playroom which our two-year-old twins loved! The Nohls were so responsive and helpful in planning and throughout our stay. We had some crazy weather and they were available to answer questions and ensured we were comfortable.

Enjoying the Apple season

This is the perfect spot to use as a base for enjoying the fall colours and activities of Bayfield/Ashland area. During our girls getaway we toured the county, hiked, visited orchards, sampled local fish and simply embraced the beauty of the Bay area. We enjoyed cooking dinner together in the spacious and well-stocked kitchen; windows across the living room walls allowed us to enjoy the beauty outside from dawn til late night. The house is charmingly decorated for the season. 4 bedrooms and 2 up-to-date baths were perfect for the 7 of us. Katie is the perfect host- she made check-in super easy and quickly responded to all our questions. I would visit again!

Great winter vacation

The house is very nice, with a large kitchen, and lots of cookware and appliances. The view across Chequamegon Bay at sunrise is quite pretty. The owner is very responsive. We had someone in a wheelchair, which just fit into one of the downstairs bedrooms.

Family Vacation

This property is perfect for a great family vacation. We had 13 total people and the house was more than adequate. Everything was clean and well maintained. The property is near several great attractions, boat rides, kayaking, waterfalls (Copper falls, Big and little Manitou falls, Amnicon falls and many more), swimming and fishing. A perfect vacation location.

Enjoyable Experience!

My family stayed at the property in order to visit the area, especially the Apostle Islands. The property does look good in the photos but the experience was better than I expected. The house is spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated as well as practical. It was a very enjoyable experience, we are looking forward to going back!

Love love this property!!!

Omg this is the perfect home for gathering with Family. My Daughter's wedding brought me to WI and the house was the perfect place to host the in-laws. Everything in the house is thoughtfully laid out with the family in mind. The fire pit was awesome for making Smores. My granddaughter had everything she needed, including a cute play area. I can't say enough about this wonderful home away from home. I'd definitely recommend as well as visit again.

The Nohl family loves their lakeside home and it shows! The house was just lovely and comfortable. Historical but modernized to be very livable. Tastefully decorated with soothing colors and tasteful touches like soft blue and gray throw blankets, and a vintage dresser for an efficient coffee center. The beds, pillows, and linens were excellent quality. The view from the beach is charming when Ashland’s lights are twinkling. We had a fine time relaxing with a group of colleagues for two nights.

It's a funny story about our "coffee bar" Barbara--the decorators could not find a piece of furniture to fit in that space and we decided to wander over to one of the cottage and found a that gorgeous antique dresser. They painted it white and it seems as if it was made for that space! It works perfectly storing extra coffee cups, k-cups, tea, and everything hot beverage related. Beautiful Lake House. Katie was very helpful. Lovely gift basket for the family.

We had two families in the house and having the upstairs where the children and their parents could have their own space was wonderful. We also have three cooks in the family and the kitchen was perfect, large, open and well stocked with equipment. Best place we've ever stayed.

We had large extended families in mind when we added on the kids playroom upstairs. It is so nice to be able to enjoy some peaceful adult time while the kids are drawing on the chalk wall and playing with horses and legos games upstairs isn't it! Beautiful home for a family get together!

This home is gorgeous. They have done a fabulous job keeping the original cabin feel with completely modern updates. Beautiful views in a wooded area with lake access and small area for swimming and playing in the sand. Close to Ashland and Bayfield as well as many other amenities in the area. They are very accommodating and had a wonderful welcome basket for our family and included some gifts for the grandkids and special treats from local establishments. Katie even arranged a birthday cake for my husband's 50th birthday celebration! There are other properties on the parcel, but they are not too close and everyone had a great time meeting the guests and playing with the kids. Perfect for families with 4 comfy bedrooms and a great play area just for kids upstairs (they had the cartoon network on the t.v. upstairs with two little bean bag chairs - adorable!) Check out Cascade Waterfall Park and Bayfield/Madeline Island while you are in the area and make sure to check out Sparky's bar and grill about two miles down the road very family friendly with a lot of games for everyone. Overall a great place to stay - very cozy and kitchen and laundry were an added bonus! The property is managed very well and was meticulously clean and organized. We would definitely stay again.

Truely peaceful and relaxing

We shared a girl's weekend in late April at this wonderful, relaxing and very welcoming home. Let's just say, none of us wanted to leave. The owner was very accommodating. She had fresh flowers and homemade chocolates from a small German pastry and candy store in Ashland. Yum. The house was beautiful. We enjoyed using the well stocked kitchen and grilled rib eye steaks on the weber charcoal grill outside. There were no children in our group but the upstairs is charmingly set up for kids. We hope to return again. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Home!

We enjoyed a March weekend at the Lake Home and were so impressed with this beautiful offering! Everything about the home is inviting and comfortable. This would be such a wonderful place for a couple of families to gather and spend time together. The upstairs is perfect for children/teens to hang out and there is room for a crowd to cook/eat or play games together. We would love to return in the warmer weather so we can spend time by the water.

Nice facility!

I'm sorry, I did not see the check out instructions while we were still there. We got most of the items but missed starting the load of towels. Oops!

Mission Springs Resort has been in the Nohl family for over 75 years. Jay and Cheryl took over ownership in 2011, which was only natural since they have lived on the property all of their married years (and Jay, his entire life) and passed it onto their son and daughter in law, Jayson and Katie, in 2015. Jay loves to work outside taking care of the property and fishes and hunts in his spare time. You can usually find Cheryl buried in a pile of yarn knitting blankets and sweaters for her grandchildren.
Jay and Cheryl will be there to welcome you when you check in. They take care of the day to day running of the property-check-in in guests, making sure the cottages and house are kept exceptionally clean, mowing the lawn and general upkeep around the place.
Jayson and Katie are currently living in the St. Louis area and are dreaming of the day they can move home to Ashland and Mission Springs Resort. They homeschool their 6 children and love spending the fall in northern Wisconsin hunting and fishing. They take care of most of the "behind the scenes" management of the business and love interacting with renters over the phone and via email. If you emailing inquiries, Katie is usually the one answering them.
This is a family business and we are involving our children in preparation for them to take it over one day. They help with yard work when we are in Ashland and we bounce business ideas off one another when we aren't. Mission Springs Resort is everything you would expect from a true family business. We know you will love this little piece of heaven as much as we do.

Our property has been in the family since the early 1930's. Started by Great, Great, Grandpa Ted to be a summertime getaway for families and fishermen and passed down through the generations. In 1950 Grandpa Billy purchased it and kept on treating his guests like family. We have people making reservations who vacationed at Mission Springs when they were children. Reliving their fond childhood memories of playing on the beach and enjoying each others company around a campfire in the evenings. In 2011 Jay and Cheryl took ownership and were more than happy to pass it on to their son Jayson and his wife Katie in 2015 who run day-to-day operations from their home in Edwardsville, Illinois. We are working together to manage the property and always find ways to make your stay at Mission Springs memorable!
