Anchors Aweigh -Pet Friendly Cottage In Historic Seaside Beaufort, NC

Anchors Aweigh is a historic home built in 1869 that is located in the heart of Beaufort's Historic District and has been renovated to provide a comfortable vacation get away. Guests will find themselves near all the coastal amenities of the NC Crystal Coast while staying in a comfortable fully accessorized home just a short walk to Beaufort's Front Street.
Enjoy specialty shops, restaurants, Maritime Museum, the Beaufort Board walk as well as beautiful panoramic views of the southern outer banks all are a two block walk from the cottage.

Beaufort has been named the 'Coolest, Friendliest Small Town ' in the USA and its a vacation destination by visitors from all over country.

Anchors Aweigh is decorated in a "coastal theme" that is both roomy and comfortable. Accommodations include living room area and a downstairs bedroom, fully stocked kitchen has stove, microwave, full size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and dining area that seats 9. An upstairs loft easily sleeps 4 with a queen bed and a separate area that has a trundle with two twin beds (Note cottage has one bathroom that is located on first floor). A second shower/bath facility is located in the back yard next to the shed. Wi-Fi services , 2 TV's and DVD included. A private fenced covered patio area has outdoor benches (that convert to a picnic table), gas grill. and an outdoor sink for fish cleaning. The cottage is pet friendly for a small pet fee. Backyard shed has washer/ dryer / folding table. Adult and youth bikes are available for your use. There is ample onsite parking for 2 cars and/or trailered boat.

Owners operate a 'seafood' business so fresh seasonal shellfish is readily available. There are also many nearby attractions which are just a short drive away which include Atlantic Beach, Fort Macon, NC State Aquarium, water park , public fishing pier, boat ramps, plus so much more make this a "must do' for beach lovers and family vacationers.

This was an ideal location for our family for my sister’s wedding. The hosts were sweet and we were lucky enough to get some of their delicious shrimp! Our family enjoyed the stay and we even brought the cat!

Owners were amazing, house was perfect for us and fur baby. Clean and well stocked. Easy walking to brewery, food trucks and turner street market (amazing breakfast sandwiches and burritos!) This was our first visit of many more to Beaufort!

Lovely Historic Home

We enjoyed the location of this home! Love all the history of this town, which we found was linked to our hometown in WNC. The owners were wonderful and have the best fresh shrimp! They supplied many essentials that I usually have to purchase when staying in VRBO. Highly recommend!

Lovely time near the beach

Nice cozy cottage near the downtown fort and beaches. Went to see fort Macon and Atlantic beach for a nice weekend getaway.

May 2025 Beaufort

The owners Joe and Sue were friendly and welcoming even giving us delicious fresh shrimp cocktail! The house is clean, and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and the location is perfect walking distance to downtown. We had a wonderful week kayaking around the creeks and eating and drinking downtown. We will definitely stay here again.

Comfortable house, great location, gracious hosts.

My wife, daughter, two grandchildren and I spent five days at Anchors Aweigh while visiting Beaufort for a wedding of another daughter. The house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location where we could walk just about everywhere. The husband of the host is a commercial fisherman and prepared a plate of fresh caught shrimp with homemade cocktail sauce for us. Nice people.

Adorable Cottage

You will want for nothing at this cottage! Sue and Joe have thought of everything including emergency lights, books, games and even a basket of snacks. Location is great for walking into town but on a busy street. Nice that they are next door if you need anything!

Perfect Place

We loved staying at Anchors Aweigh in Beaufort! The house was spacious and comfortable and the hosts were so kind. We enjoyed meeting them upon arrival! The location was ideal for walking everywhere. It was the perfect place to stay with our dog. Our favorite part was sitting on the front porch enjoying the breeze! We hope to come back again soon!

Great find!

Everything as advertised and then some! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We loved having our two dogs with us and it's an easy short walk Front St. We will definitely stay again!

My favorite vacation rental

We've stayed in a few rentals. This one tops the list. It is not run by property management, and the owners live nearby. The owners added several extras not found in other rentals such as many condiments and a bowl of packaged snacks. Pet friendly. Outdoor area to enjoy with the dogs. Location is great. It's close to a coffee shop. The town is super cute. A short drive to the ferry. Plenty of activities.

Amazing Host

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here at Anchors Away! Sue was amazing host. She stopped by to ensure our check in process went well and to see if there was anything she could do for us. They even brought us a healthy amount of steamed shrimp from their market! It was delicious too!! The house is a very short 6 minute walk to the waterfront where all the stores and restaurants are which is great. We will definitely put this house on our first look any time we come back to Beaufort.

Darling little cottage

We love this little cottage only a few blocks from Front St. Stocked with all the amenities and supplies you need. Hosts were very friendly and responsive. Pet friendly with a cute little fenced in back yard. Highly recommend.

Beautiful cottage and great hosts!

Loved our trip to Beaufort. We came for the Beaufort Ghost Walk. From this cute cottage we could walk to our destination. The hosts, Joe and Sue are wonderful. They brought us shrimp cocktail and were a joy to talk to. Will definitely be back.

Excellent place to stay with a pet.

Beautiful quiet cottage and a lovely place to stay especially for those traveling with a pet. The kitchen was very well supplied with both cooking necessities as well as bowls for pets, doggy cleanup bags, doggy treats, etc. I think my dog had a great time just looking out the window and watching people go by up and down the street. And of course being on Turner Street, access to the waterfront and historic area is excellent being literally just down the street and within walking distance from the cottage. Sue was so kind and hospitable and checked on me to see if there was anything I needed. I look forward to returning someday.

Scuba Diving Trip

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and all expectations were met or exceeded. The property was perfect for our stay scuba diving in the area. Situated near Moorehead City, area resturants, and Waterfront/Dive Shops. Property was clean with every ammenity we could have needed and the hosts went above and beyond and were gracious hosts. Outside area with sink,shower, and bathroom were perfect after a day of diving and scuba gear rinsing/drying. Highly recommend and looking forward to a return visit.

Avid lover of the sea and a longtime registered nurse, my husband Joe (a Beaufort native and local oysterman and shrimper) and we also run Darden's Seafood, a source for the freshest seasonal shellfish.

Purchased property because of it's proximity to our homestead. The property has been used as law offices for the past two decades and we have restored it to a single family residence for family, friends and guest that come to visit our beautiful crystal coast. Beaufort is a small town with lots of available activities, attractions and nearby beaches. It is a perfect destination for couples and families wanting to relax and enjoy and is Pet friendly.

Close to downtown Beaufort you can easily walk two short blocks to restaurants, pubs, and unique shopping, stroll along the boardwalk and enjoy the sun setting on Taylors Creek . Ample off street parking can accommodate boat & trailer with several nearby public boat ramps, Nearby public beaches , a must do vacation for fishing enthusiasts and beach lovers. Cottage is pet friendly , must notify owner and pay non-refundable pet fee and abide by Owner Pet Policy.
