Charming, Family-Friendly La Jolla Shores Getaway

NEWLY REMODELED HOME WITH AC. Just remodeled the majority of the home and added AC, new washer/dryer as of June 2022. This charming home is a short and lovely walk to the beautiful La Jolla Shores beach, the Award-winning Marine Room restaurant, Scripps Pier, and La Jolla Shores village with all kinds of restaurants - Italian, Mexican, Sushi - as well as beach rental and retail shops, markets and coffee shops. Vacationers can snorkel and see incredible sea life, learn to surf, boogie board, sea kayak in the caves, swim, sun bath, bbq, play frisbee just minutes from the house.

There are three bedrooms, two baths, a living room, dining room, sitting room, outdoor kitchen and shower. Two bedrooms have queen size beds and the third bedroom has two extra long twin beds and loft that could sleep one person and a sleeper sofa in the family room. There is a wonderful backyard with an outside kitchen and sitting area - perfect for those who like to BBQ or sit outdoors with a glass of wine.

The house has everything you might need - wireless Internet, DVD player, boogie boards, beach chairs & towels, toys, high chair, pack n' play for small children, and so much more.

Nearby are the world famous La Jolla Playhouse, Scripps Aquarium, UCSD, Torrey Pines Golf course, Del Mar Horse Racing Track, San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Lego land, Balboa Park, 'Petco Park' baseball field, San Diego Airport, Coronado Island and Mexico and a number of beaches to choose from. Also close-by is shopping and more restaurants in downtown La Jolla (less than a mile from the house).

Great place to stay. Very convenient to La Jolla restaurants and regional destinations.

Very comfortable accommodations for our family of 6 adults, one toddler and one infant. Late check-out was especially helpful!

Best host, best rental home ever

My family and I always use Vrbo for our rental vacation but this time the host Renee was so nice and responsive that make our stay even better. The house is comfortable and it’s close to the beach walking. They have everything you could need and even more. We really enjoyed our stay at La Jolla in this magnificent home.

Comfortable Stay - Great Hosts

Overall everything was great. AC worked great. Comfortable beds, excellent grill, back yard, spacious living room. The location of the turn-off of Torre Pines can be loud with police sirens and traffic in general. However, with the timing of the traffic lights, is NOT difficult to get out of the driveway. I would rent this house again.

La Jolla was amazing

Great location of property( even though it is a busy street) House itself is super dated, and needs better cleanliness ( cobwebs in dining room), many switches do not work, Television and furniture is really old), yet this house has a lot of old world charm and yard has a lot of character with amazing trees. Also thoughtful stocking of beach towels, chairs. Kitchen has adequate but minimal utensils etc. Overall a decent stay in a wonderful city ..

Home away from home

Great location, great backyard, lots of space for kids to play, short walk to the beach and shops, restaurants. Even though the house is on a busy crossroads it was very quiet. Outside shower worked well after a long day on the beach, also had plenty of beach amenities to use. We will definitely come back

Nice Location

While a quick dusting and vacuuming for spiders and cobwebs would have made my daughters' and wife's first impression much better, we enjoyed our stay. I suggested perhaps this is just the nature of the area with year-round warm weather lots of mature vegetation nearby. A little initial work and clean-up took care of the problem. The property appeared aged compared to what I could see in the photos but was still completely functional. The tiny loft was difficult to access and had the most spiders and webs, so nobody stayed up there. The property location is very nice, with a beautiful backyard and large BBQ grill, which worked well. The driveway is steep, exits onto a busy road, and is only accessible from one direction but was not a problem once we learned how to handle it and local drivers were polite when traffic was heavy and needed in or out of the driveway. The nearest walking access to the beach just south of the Marine Room restaurant was around 10 minutes away but inaccessible around high tide. The other beach access to the north was a bit further since it requires going all the way around the private beach and tennis club down Avenida De La Playa. Both walks were very nice. The outdoor shower is an awesome feature and the shed full of beach accessories is a terrific amenity. This property met the needs of our large family very well with the multiple bathrooms, spacious living area, large dining table and great back patio. Overall, this property was very good for our visit to La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores and surrounding area.

Perfect Vacation House.

My family and I really enjoyed staying at this property. The location was convenient to either walk to the beach or the shops in La Jolla Shores, and getting on and off the freeway. The house was perfect - it had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Even though it is close to the main road - the property dips down low and is very quiet at night. We were sad to leave. The owner was very accessible and extremely accommodating. We hope to be back soon.

Perfect getaway

We recently returned from a week long stay at La Jolla Shores. It was the perfect getaway and escape from the Arizona heat. The house was very comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. We even ate most meals at the house and found everything we needed to prepare and cook everything. The back yard was perfect to enjoy the cool weather, BBQ, and we ate most of our dinners outside. The location of the house was also great for us. We walked everywhere. We walked to the beach, to restaurants, to the farmers market on Sunday, the Coast Trail, etc. In fact we parked the car in the driveway when we arrived and did not use it again until we left a week later! The owner(and her daughter) were great. They were so easy to deal with and provided some great information about the area and things to do. I would definitely recommend this property and will stay here again when I return to San Diego.

Loved every minute

We took our children and grandchildren. The house was perfect for all of us and a very short walk to the beach. We even extended our stay a couple of days. We will do this again. Thank you to the owners for being so easy to work with.

Nice home and backyard...steep short driveway!

Was not told renovations were going on, picture of driveway on website appears to be long and level...very steep and not easy to access with wheelchairs or walkers! Backing out of driveway into traffic proved to be challenging also! Nice home overall, but for those with elderly or mobile challenged, was a little difficult!

Vacation at 7928 LaJolla Shores

This property accommodated my family of 5 adults and 2 toddlers very nicely. The private back yard was very nice to relax in and let the children run in. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and pots and pans. There were plenty of towels for all of us. The beach is only a very short 10 minute walk. We were able to bring beach toys from the house to the beach. The sunsets were so beautiful.

Great location! Perfect for family gathering!

We came here for thanksgiving with the family - 5 adults and one toddler. While the house is a bit older, The location is great - close to the beach and downtown La Jolla. Had large dining room and family room along with great outdoor area. One of the bathrooms was on the smaller side so we only used it as a half bath. Perfect for a family gathering.

great family house!

Everything at this place was great the location, the yard and the owners had everthing you needed as far as amenities go! even stocked shampoo and soap! the beds were very comfy as well! I just wish we knew about all of the remodeling going in next door...lots if noise first thing in the am. but overall a great find!

Perfect home for our beach vacation

The home had all of the essentials for our week beach vacation. The backyard was perfect for grilling and relaxing after long days at the beach. We enjoyed everything about it this stay. Easy 15 minute walk to the beach, playground and many restaurants. The owners were very responsive if we had questions!!! No complaints

Comfortable Beds, Great Patio, Central Location

We stayed two weeks at this house while recovering from a procedure at UCSD. The house is a short walk to La Jolla Beach. The walk to the beach has a number of shops and local restaurants. If you are up for a little more shopping and excitement, La Jolla Cove is a picturesque walk via Coast Walk Trail, or a 5-minute Lyft ride away. It was only two of us, but we could easily have had 6 people in the house with plenty of room to spare.

The house is beautiful, great location and the owner is kind and gracious!

The house is very big, nicely decorated and well stocked with all the essentials. The location is great with only a 10 minute walk to La Jolla Shores beach and many dining options. The owner is great to work with: timely, kind and friendly. She even left a bowl of fruit for us to enjoy during our stay (this is the first time, we've gotten this special treat in four years of VRBO vacation rentals!). I would highly recommend this house and we look forward to going back again next year!

Family Spring Break 2016

We had a great experience at this home. As others have mentioned, it's a great spot for families of young children. The back yard was a nice, safe place for our two year old to play. The wagon got us to and from the beach 2-3 times each day (10 minute walk). We prepared food in the kitchen and the backyard grill. The house is stocked with bath towels, beach towels, sand toys, wake boards. We just showed up with our clothes and were set for the week!

Lovely La Jolla Home

We enjoyed this lovely home, and the proximity to the beach was great. The yard is gorgeous and you could hear the ocean very late at night when traffic noise quieted down. (There is traffic noise that could bother you if you had to have the windows open.) There were a few lags in communication with the owner, but it all worked out. Our family of 5 plus a guest had plenty of room and privacy. The neighborhood is nice to walk through on your way to the beach or the shops.
